True Friends are the BEST

While not completely necessary, I highly recommend reading Wait for the Rain prior to Bridges. Daphne, KC and Skylar are all reunited in NYC, just a little bit older than last time, but a whole lot wiser. Not a one of their personalities are the same, but together they mesh really well. My biggest critique, and I am really stretching here, is that I found their dialogue to be written almost too formally, instead of how people actually speak. Perhaps that could be because I compared it to when my girlfriends and I get together, we don't typically refer to ourselves as "gal pals". While their phrases and speech were not always relatable, their struggles absolutely were. Throughout their trip, the various struggles that each one faces is revealed. There is a strong message that is relayed to the reader and that is the power of true friendship. True friends know all your secrets and still love you all the same. True friends cast no judgement. True friends are your strength when you are feeling weak. True friends are your biggest cheerleaders. True Friendship has no limitations. These three ladies and this story embodies what true friendship and girl power should be about. I cannot imagine life without mine and I hope that is something everyone finds in their lifetime.

Once you find those true friends, hold on to them. It was a fun read and I pictured myself exploring NYC right along with these ladies. I really enjoyed Krissa and hearing about her dating woes, she seems like my spirit animal. Halfway through this book, I found myself googling lokai bracelets and where to find them. What they represent could not be more fitting for this story and for life in general. I am looking forward to reading more of Maria's books!

Bridges, a lovely story

Absolutely loved it. The kinship ,love and and mojo between these women came from the heart. How their feelings came out, frustrations, were so true to life. You let their insecurities come through,and made this story real. You knocked it out of the ball park. This love story between friends was awesome. Great writing,great novel!(and I liked the reference to the Waverly Inn)

Maybe a follow-up on the Waverly Bryson group,would be lovely too.

Another winner by Maria Murname!

I've read most of Maria's books and was glad to find more entertainment in this one.

I've read Monica McInerney books so many times and they're so lively but the narrator sounds like she's reading an encyclopaedia. I'm struggling to finish this book it is so dull. The Irish accent is rubbish too.

A Waste Of Time

This book had such unbelievable characters that it was impossible for me to stay interested and engaged. The dialogue and strange behavior exhibited by the characters boggled the mind. The "mystery" wasn't enough to hold my attention. I liked the idea of a story about five lives that intersect over a year at Kew Gardens but the follow through needed much more thought and planning. For me, the writing was so poorly done I was mystified by how this was even published. Juvenile, unlikable and ridiculous. I hate wasting my time on unedited rough drafts.

Not What I Expected, but It Had It's Positive Poin

I can't quite explain why I downloaded this audiobook as it's just not the kind of thing I usually enjoy. Maybe it was the fact that it interweaves the stories of five different characters (a frame to which I'm partial), or maybe it was because it's set mainly in Kew Gardens, a place that I loved visiting. Had I paid more attention to comparisons to Audrey Nifffenegger and Curtis Sittenfield, I probably would have passed on it. Tor Udall's first novel focuses on the interrelated stories of five people, each of them drawn to Kew, and each of them suffering from some kind of loss.

Different, but entertaining

Really enjoyed this series. Stephen Mangan and Claire Skinner are old friends who get back in touch and decide to meet once a month for lunch and we get to listen to the travails of their lives. The episodes are in 15 minute chunks so are easy to listen to. As you would expect from two great actors like Mangan and Skinner the characters are interesting and you can't help but want to learn more about the two characters. Overall if you like well written character comedy then this is definitely worth your time.

A pleasant listen, but felt it lacked something. Maybe it was because the scenario, having lunch, was all the same. And having just two characters made it sound like a verbal tennis match.

If you havent already listened to it, I would recommend getting BBC Radio 4s Love in Recovery which really does grow on you with each episode

It's always nice to revisit old friends like the Brigadier (sorry, Colonel). The return of Chorley was well done with some nice character moments I wouldn't have expected. Good job ramping up the menace of the Dominators and the Quarks.

DO NOT BUY the audiobook until they add the final chapters!!

This is a review of the Audible Audiobook version. I have been an Audible member since 2001, and never returned a title...until now. The story is interesting and enjoyable, BUT incomplete in the Audible version. The Kindle and print book has 20 chapters and an epilogue. The Audible version ends abruptly at (what I think is) the end of chapter 19, in the middle of a climactic battle. I plan on purchasing the Kindle edition to find out how it ends.

Great spinoff of Doctor Who

Always have enjoyed this series, makes the characters even more interesting then just their appearances on the Doctor Who episodes.

Another unputdownable book by Anuja Chauhan. She brings her exculusive style of humor and writing into a world of indian politics which could be other wise dull. Cant wait for her next already!!!
