Wonderful

I was hooked straight away with the story of Rose and her daughter Maddie who have run away to escape their old life to a place Rose has dreamt about since before the birth Maddie .. to find a special person who, many years ago showed her warmth and kindness. She finds him and so much more and I just loved reading how everything unfolds .. not always to plan.

Dearest Rose is a wonderful, wonderful book. It was an effortlessly listen and I was completely swept up in Roses story. I just couldnt put it down

My first audible. A great book ....

.... and my first book by Rowan Coleman. I started out just listening in the car when driving and then got hooked so listened when cooking and even when getting dressed in the morning. A lovely story.

Great book, excellent performance

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

This book is intelligent and enjoyable. It deals with a delicate subject (domestic abuse) but it is not a heavy read. The character are well developed and the reader gets a real insight of the situation and the reactions (sometimes difficult to understand from an outsider point of view) of how domestic violence can settled itself in a couple. But it is first and foremost the story of a person who gets herself out of this vicious cycle and rebuild herself without never be cheesy. It is an excellent read and a good balance between serious matters and good reading material. The performance by Anne Dover is perfect, as usual.

Not my Favorite Blake book

I normally Love LOVE Jennifer Blake, but this book just didn't make the cut for me. I loved the idea, but the plot never developed as I expect her books to develop. Perhaps it was the length the threw me off, as her books over the years have generally been longer. I have been a huge fan for decades, and I loved the setting, New Orleans is my second home, I just wanted more development This would have been a 3 for almost any other author, I am going to assume this is a prelude to a series. It was free, so for free I can't complain too much, I always love reading anything about the area.

Paranormal mystery

Interesting and twisty tale set in the South. A who did it that will keep you guessing right to the end. Some romance and and a little action.

Gothic at it's best.

I can only say that this is one of the best southern gothic romances I have read in a long time. So much so, that I have gone and looked for more of Jennifer Blake's books. You will not be disappointed.

but I like the author she is one of that I will ...

I haven't had to time to read this book, but I like the author she is one of that I will keep.

A Great Plains Woman Who's Been Through the Mill

Randolphs protagonist, Mary Rasmussen, is that woman. She was born and raised on a ranch in the middle of Nowhere, Nebraskaaka The Sandhills. The story opens with Mary in the hospital, waking up to discover that shes missing a leg, and her husband is dead. Her isolation and despair drive her to marry a preacher who makes her life unbearable.

I was wondering the whole time if she was going to murder him in his sleep but I wont spoil what actually happens

Hard to rate ... Good Story, BAD Information

Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?

No, I would be afraid they would take the story as truth about how ADD is evaluated and treated. I have seen so many reviews that focus on the ADD treatment and not the actual story.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Made the information about how the evaluations, medication and doctor interaction more accurate.

Any additional comments?

So I want to rate this higher, but I have two kids that suffer from a form of ADD some of the things written are untrue and it takes too long to hear about the pro side of medication. It took us a very long time to decide on using medication,but we made sure we were educated and all our questions were answered first. The story is a good story, not an accurate portrayal of how the evaluation process works. Or how the medication is handled. There is so much more Doctor intervention than the story shows. It's an interesting point of view ...wish it was more accurate.

Roald Dahl never disappoints

Beautiful short story. Very inspiring, written with the usual Dahl simple, elegant and effective style. The reader has an irish accent, which i personally enjoyed. A must listen/read.

A disappointment from a fine writer

This is supposedly a love/loss type of story with a bit of ghostliness thrown in but it doesn't really work. I have to empathise with characters and in this I find them thinly written and unconvincing. The idea might work with a short story but this one is stretched far too thinly. Not seeing why anyone would fall in love with them! O'farrel is better than this. Well narrated thought to be fair.

Much Ado About Nothing

Maggie O'Farrell can write and I loved her book 'After You'd Gone. But this was a drama too far. Filled with detail that became endless and totally unnecessary. The story so over-blown with the Ghost-like appearances of Sinead and the expectant story of what exactly Marcus had done to her - I really wanted to slap them all. One has to like the characters and I thought they were all tiresome. The story teller trying to rush with breathy overtones didn't help either. Sorry - very disappointed.

She could have set up a relationship between Marcus and Lilly. Why did she love him??

I don't know why I kept listening to it. I think because other Maggie O'Farrell's books have been good.
