Excellent Environmental Fiction
The story, set in Florida, alternates between the lives of Locka and Mali in the distant past, and Emily Booth, Rob Zodiac, and Barbara Evans in the present.
In the mid-eighteenth century, Locka feels pain. His wife and son disappeared five years ago in a Spanish raid. He notices Mali. The beautiful woman is the only one who doesn't flirt with Locka.
Emily is a business owner, wife, and mother of a challenging teen. Her husband Daniel demonstrates his skill in Machiavellian techniques when he sets the foundation for his run for public office before he tells her.
Barbara is a former reporter, working now as a columnist. She's making her mark writing about environmental issues.
A real estate developer believes economic powers rule the world. He is determined create urban living zones in Florida. How far will he and his associates go to make his dreams a reality?
P. C. Zick presents readers with an excellent book. She captures the sights, sounds, and smells of tribal living in the 1760s. At the same time, she demonstrates political savvy with her insight into Florida politics. Ms. Zick also deftly and sensitively addresses social issues, including the environment and homelessness, without ever hopping up on a soapbox and preaching at the readers.
Zick is a great read about the battle of money power and nature
âNative Landsâ by P.C. Zick is a great read about the battle of money power and nature. Zick is a journalist who writes about nature and her love for nature. This book is one of the books you would like to read if you like nature and historical fictions. The story is based in Florida, and is jumping in time (I truly love these kind of books..), Present and the late 18th Century, the Spanish invasion, British too, which took a toll of native people lives and nature. Zick captures the momentum and makes you feel like you are actually touring the places, meeting the fascinating people of the past, and also the presents. What is happening in the Glades, Past and present? The tension is there in every step: Love, life, murder and, compassion verses personal needs and selfishness. Everything that has to do with nature and human nature you will find in the touching story. I highly recommend!

I felt is was a bit less credible than her other books. It's a good story but the "evil corporation planning to take over the world" theme was a bit over the top.
PC Zick does it again - another great read!
If you haven't read PC Zick's Florida trilogy, what are you waiting for? Florida is a wacky place with amazing nature that is constantly under attack. She captures it in Hiaasen-like fashion but with her own wonderful twist and with romance to boot.
