Read again and again

Well, if my four-year-old's demands for a repeat are anything to go by, this book is a winner. It reminds me of the Stella books somehow (Marie-Louise Gay). Zoe is the kind of girl you want to hang out with and her concerns match those of my four-year-old (I want to go and explore so I need pockets for my magnifying glass and a small jar, but I also want to do pirouettes on the grass so I need my tutu).

Cute book - my 3 year old loves it

We got this as a gift and my daughter loved it so much, she has it memorized cover to cover now. The pictures are so cute and colorful, and also fits my adult taste. it has glitter which she loves. It also has just the right amount of text so she doesn't get bored. We got this with a pair of butterfly wings and it was a huge hit for her. I did the same thing for my niece and she loved it too. Can't go wrong for a 3 year old girl (girly or tomboy).

Bought this for my daughter Zoe and she has enjoyed it.

This is such a sweet book - a lovely simple story with a very powerful message. Love the illustrations too. It is one of my son's favorites!

Teachers: take note

This book is a wonderful tool for teachers to use with young children. It has all the elements a teacher looks for when choosing a book for circle time: characters that appeal to children, a story line that makes kids want you to turn the page, beautiful illustrations. It also meets many of the literacy components: the right number of pages, words that children know but others to help with vocabulary building, a story line that children will be able to recall. It is a great book to promote kindness, self-awareness and acceptance of the gifts that we are given. Plus it is just a warm, wonderful story.

Beautiful book with a beautiful message!

My children were given this book as a gift a few weeks ago and have insisted up having it read to them (they are three years old) every day since then, multiple times a day. The story is wonderful and the illustrations are adorable, but the best part is the message -- that we are all unique and should cherish that, even when it can sometimes be hard. What a wonderful idea for a children's book!

That's it? One Chapter?

I was excited when I stubbled across this story as the preview sounded like something similar to my current situation with my HFA son, however, 12 minutes after pushing play I was extremely disappointed to find out this 'book' is only One Chapter long. I paid to hear 12 minutes of Preface and Acknowledgments. This has the potential to be something great, if the Author ever cares to elaborate.

This book verges on the disturbing for me. But that is because of the times we live in. Rabbit makes suggestions for mom's present. Some of his suggestions raised my eyebrow. That said, this is a much loved story book around the world.

beautiful illustrations

I bought this book for my preschool granddaughter who lives in Japan and did not know what a thunderstorm was (who knew that Japan doesn't have thunder storms). While there is a lot of text for her age, it has satisfied her curiousity about thunder and lightning, and she will grow into the more advanced text. The illustrations alone are worth purchasing this book.

A classic

Some people find this story slow. There is a lot of repetition, but because of that, my two year old listener loves it. She adores the pictures which, having been done by Maurice Sendak, are fabulous. It's just a little girl who is trying to figure out what to give her mother. Mr. Rabbit tries very hard to be helpful. What do you think they come up with?

Great book!!!

My daughter received this book in her Easter basket and she absolutely loves it! It is a very cute story that keeps my five year old's attention and has her begging me to read it again. My cousin recommended this book, remembering it from her childhood 20+ years ago. This book would also be a great story to incorporate into an art teachers lesson. It talks about colors and could have endless possibilities in the classroom.

When she heard Manka gave her father a handful of millet and told him to take the millet to the judge and tell him that if he could sow and harvest the millet overnight, she would bring the chicks to eat it. The judge was delighted and offered another challenge. Have Manka come to court the next day, but not during the day or night and that she should come neither walking or riding and neither dressed nor undressed.

They were left there by two sisters who were in the lagoon and the mothers had set up a net around the tree so if a baby slipped it would still be safe and land in the net.

The next day the chief came in, and the singer was still awake. The chief told him that was the best song of all time, and he wanted to give him a chunk of gold. The chief left.

The snorer woke up and asked what had happened. The singer told him. They began walking toward the next village. The snorer said to the singer that he felt he should have the gold because his snoring had made it possible for the song to exist. The singer said they would be dead if he had not made up the song, so he should keep the gold. The snorer argued that the song would not exist except for him. They kept arguing. Who do you think should get the gold?
