Excellent find.

I bought this for my best friend (who happens to be named Claude). It's well illustrated, wonderfully written and the book is much slicker than you can tell from just a cover shot. Children especially will enjoy it immensely I imagine.

Children of America! Get ready for Claude!

My father bought two books from the Claude series as a holiday present for my daughter. He had to order them directly from the UK and while initially, I thought that was a bit much for a children's book, I now believe that it was money very well spent - and have ordered the remaining books myself!

Claude is a short, plump dog who wears a beret and a red jumper. Together with his best pal, Sir Bobblysock, they go on adventures when Claude's masters, Mr. & Mrs. Shinyshoes, are away at work. Claude is a clever and resourceful dog and he's never in a pickle for long - often utilizing a juicy bone treat at the right moment.

The books are wonderfully illustrated and hilariously written. My soon to be kindergarten age daughter finds the books a crack up - and so do I. Well worth a read.

In this installment, Claude heads to the big city to see the sites (modern art anyone?) and save the day!

From what I've read, the Claude books will be released in the USA soon. Children of America, get ready for Claude!

Great book

I am a fan.

Two Stars

it was ok

Funny!

What a funny little book! I read this with my daughter and she laughed out loud several times throughout the story. She loves Sir Bobblysock, and the way Claude takes people's temperatures with a banana.

This is a super cute book that children will enjoy. It is an early chapter book with color illustrations on almost every page. It has 96 pages, but can easily be read within 10 minutes (by an adult).

I did have a concern with the crude jokes that are in the book. One is a sculpture of a person's nude bottom (which is completely inappropriate for a children's book, in my opinion), and the other is the name of the doctor at the hospital. Every time his name was mentioned, I changed it to "the doctor" instead.

Title: Claude on the Slopes

Length: 18 mins

Release date: 10-05-17

Publisher's Summary:

In this latest adventure, on a winter's day, Claude goes from throwing snowballs and making snowmen to causing an all-out avalanche!

Claude & Sir Bobbysock escape to adventure on the slopes

We're visiting Claude again. Claude is from the United Kingdom (England) or France or somewhere thereabout. Claude is a dog and lives with his people and Sir Bobbysock. Claude and his friend and companion, Sir Bobbysock, like to gad about when his people are not present and this time the slopes have a covering of snow and that is where Claudel goes - The Slopes.

As an early reader "chapter book," the Claude series brings delightfully simple line drawings, sparingly colored with bright red and blues and a storyline complete with innuendoes that the adults will relish that is both elementary and sophisticated.

Elementary children will identify with a visit to the library and reminder to use their"indoor voice." And then the delight one feels when they encounter first snow! Discovery of snow and the fun it brings to life was a joy to Claude.

Claude wears a magical beret and it provides lots of goodies and helpful items along the way. Again, Alex T. Smith has brought a delightful book for young readers. Parents (and kiddies) who build home libraries will want to get the entire series. I encourage school and public libraries to add these to their shelves for young readers to enjoy.

I received a complimental

Claude and Sir Bobbysock Are Winners

Claude On The Slopes by Alex T. Smith was a very cute book. Claude and his best friend, Sir Bobbysock, are looking for adventure and Claude finds it on the snowy slopes. Sir Bobbysock found his adventure entering a snowman building contest. Claude and Sir Bobbysock also learn about an avalanche the hard way.

I liked that this book used words that children might not know, because this offers a teaching experience. I also liked the fact that the "inside voice" theme had an important part in the book. Who hasn't told their child to use an "inside voice". There were lessons to be learned. There was also humor and adventure found within the book. My four year old granddaughter was giggling throughout the story. The illustrations were simple but adorable.

I'm happy to see there are other Claude books to read. I'll have to get these for my granddaughter. If you're looking for a cute book to read to the children in your life, this is a great choice.

Let's Hit the Slopes

Claude has a certain wide-eyed innocent appeal without being foolish or simple. He is adventurous and alert. He is brave and resourceful. There is a touch of "the innocent abroad", but he is not a bumbling character. He usually starts each new adventure as an inexperienced amateur, but then he always learns a lot before heading home for a bit of a rest.

In this volume Claude is feeling "boisterous", even after his previous day's noisy adventure at the library, so he and his best friend Sir Bobblysock are off to the ski slopes. They have a number of gentle, amusing adventures that involve snowball fights, sledding on tea trays, building a snow man, learning to ski, and being introduced to avalanches and mountain rescue . Between the drawings, (which are charming and expressive), and the narration, (which is clear but not patronizing), you get a story that is engaging and fun.
