I found this book really easy to read and motivating! The personal writing style is refreshing and gives the reader a sense of acceptance. Love the Mantra "A happy life is the best revenge", which the author points out is not about ones ego or indeed negativity. This book are a great reminder that it is up to us to initiate positive thoughts, words and actions in making happiness a reality for us and those around us.

Must read as you grieve!

This book will help you deal with the loss of a loved one. Grief is a journey and cannot be negotiated alone. Alan Wolfelt takes us along this journey, sharing the feelings we may have. One important fact he shares, we need others to walk with us in this journey. I recommend this book to everyone who has lost a loved one!

I would recommend âThe wilderness of Griefâ to anyone

I bought this book to help me with my English 101 class. The theme of the class was âgrieving, on death and dyingâ. At first I thought âThe Wilderness of Griefâ would of been so depressing but as I read through it, Alan Wolfelt made me understand what grief really means and how to overcome all the different phases. Itâs a powerful book with a very strong message to everyone who are suffering from some type of loss. I would recommend âThe wilderness of Griefâ to anyone.

A must read for everyone

Dr. Wolfelt is great to read and listen to as well. He's philosophy of companioning your journey through grief is the gold standard for grief and mourning. Recommended for everyone and especially anyone struggling to find their way through the wilderness of grief.

Opening the door to healing

I held off reaching out for something to read, but the grief became so fierce that I had to find help. Dr. Wolfelt's words opened a door of compassion that I feel will help me make this journey just a little less painful. My hope - to come through this whole - but in a new way of wholeness. A Great Resource In A Small Package

The Wilderness of Grief: Finding Your Way" was highly recommended to me a little over 2 months ago when my Mom died. It is perfect for someone going through the loss of a close loved one. It is written by Alan D. Wolfelt, Ph.D. who has been a grief counselor for many years. This is a concise, well written book that starts by telling you that no two people grieve the same way. The grief is something that cannot be ignored, it is like a wilderness that we must find our way through. Yes, it is painful but it is much worsel to avoid proceeding through the process.

Dr. Wolfelt points out that even though it sounds crazy, "your pain is the key that opens your heart and ushers you on your way to healing". The chapters deal with the process by using ten touchstones. These touchstones have you first being open to the presence of your loss, dispel the misconceptions about grief. He does an excellent job of explaining that you are not crazy, you're grieving.

I already started implementing some of the suggestions in the book and I can really see the potential in it. I think everyone is in need of some extra happiness nowadays, especially given the fast lives we all need. If only they taught some of these methods in schools. The world would be a happier place.

An o.k self-help book

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

I had this playing in the car and it covers some interesting areas, although I wouldn't say I am any wiser as to what to DO differently in my life to get what I am after.

What was the most interesting aspect of this story? The least interesting?

Neil gives lots of examples from his own life. Some of these are o.k, but I thought some came across as bragging along with self-promotion of his website.

I didn't like that towards the end he instructs the listener to ignore advice from everyone, but fails to realise that he himself is giving advice!

What three words best describe Neil Pasrichas performance?

He is almost giving a video performance rather than an audio performance. There are sections where he is drawing on a pad and you can hear it, but obviously not see it.

Game changer

It is easy to allow frustration to settle in and think it the new normal. Everyone gets frustrated but fail to see they have the ability to shift gears and not allow it to drive them to anger and apathy. Derek Deprey is a fresh new voice with a wonderful writing style. I particularly liked Shift because it did not gloss over the reality of the challenges in life or simply try to sprinkle "pixy dust" on them. Derek offers real-world examples and solutions to what holds most of us back from realizing more of our potential.

If you had to pick a book today, pick this book.

Derek is a leader who comes from humble beginnings. It is often difficult for one to realize their true potential until they reach a certain stage in their lives. For Derek, when it came time for him to have that spotlight and realize his true potential, he took the baton and the torch that was passed onto him and raised the bar even higher, for himself and for his peers.
