Two weeks after its launch, Concord, Sony’s supposed answer to Blizzard’s Overwatch franchise, was taken offline due to the extremely low player count and poor sales. The signs were there early on, but the publisher’s failure to recognise and do something about it led to the game’s extremely short lifespan. We unpack what went wrong for this 5v5 live service hero shooter and reflect on what Sony and developer Firewalk Studios could have done to fix, or even mitigate this.

Trish Lim, Nahar Johari and Philip Tang picked up gaming to try something new and different in their lives, and have now been bitten by the gaming bug. They play Counter Strike and Valorant together and connect with other gamers, young and old alike. They join us on the show to share the stories of how they got into it and why they advocate for their peers to join them as well.

CtrlD Studio, an indie game development studio based in Sarawak, started their voyage in the gaming industry in an unconventional way. Their final year project at university, Ano: Journeys Through Tattoos, blew up and was celebrated in the indie gaming circuit. However, upon graduation, they initially strayed away from the industry, before realising that making video games is indeed their true calling. So, they've returned and are now in the midst of creating a new tower defense shooter called Overhours. We speak to its co-founder and studio head, Suan Goh, to hear what it’s like developing video games away from the capital city, as well as the vibrancy of the game developers community in Sarawak.

Kakuchopurei.com’s content director, Jonathan Leo gives us a lowdown of what happened in July, and also speaks about the games that were released this month, including Hoyoverse’s next hit, Zenless Zone Zero, Dungeons of Hinterburg, Kunitsu-Gami and others.
