I struggled with the acceptance of being ok with being a nerd from the hood. Understanding that wanting to learn and be something other than what was put in front of me was ok. We have to change the mentality in the hood that people who seek out knowledge and books are lame, and educate the hood and spectators that black people, and people of color is more than athletes and entertainers.
WE must take the idea of having a Hood Mentality and apply in to everyday life. Creating and finding representation, in order to change our own image of a person from the hood, and the perception that the outside worlds has.
I don't ask for the same for that was placed on black lives matter to be placed on the terroist that attacked the capital building, but i am asking for the same restraint and leisure given to my BLM people. I see a huge gap with the treatment of people of color vs white "protesters" let all lives truly matter and live as one fair complete country.
I want to re-introduce My podcast to you all, Coming with a stronger focus and vision. I want to focus on "Ghetto" Portion of my podcast, going deeper on topics that can uplift my community, but also enlighten those who watch from the outside. Come and explore the hoop politics, and learn about black male stigmas.
This year has been hard and full of unpredictable moments, but through it all, we have rough it. It's time to close off 2020, taking all the lessons and eye-opening things it shown us and building off of that. Life is ongoing, so we must not let this keep us stuck. We will have relapse and PTSD, but we must lean on the lessons and wins that we did have.
The moral of this podcast is that we must learn from our paths that we walk on. Never get complacent with just doing enough. Set your goals, meet them, and set more, and keep doing that forever.
As a black man, I sometimes feel that I have to switch up my personality to be seen as professional or to be taken serious. Code Switching is either a way to get by or is i something that people of color have to use to flourish.
Our one voice need to become a choir and make noise. Your vote is important, but what will make it matter is when you spread the word and get those around you to vote as well. Do your homework as well, know who and what you are voting for. No I will ask the question, should there be a Democratic and Republican party, listen to this episode to hear what I have to say about this.
My senior year was a bitter sweet time for me, leaving an environment that i just learned to master and is now comfortable in. I had to learn that all my experiences in life will lead me to be in a state of discomfort and unfamiliar places if I chose to continue to strive for more. I was re-entering my old life as a new person with new goals and motives, but still was unsure on what to do next. I have no real guidance when it comes to college and life after. So I had to learn to accept my place in the world, and actively choose to want better for myself everyday; stepping out on faith into an unsure and unpredictable world. I hope you learn and take from my journey to make yours just a little bit smoother.
