Ghost Cult's Chris Elliott (C.ell Arts Media / Black-Angeles) chatted with Viktor Veisgarsson, a.k.a. "V" of Kópavogur, Iceland's modern Black Metal act Forsmán. Their debut full-length album "Brenndar Rústir & Fuðrandi Fjörur" was released June 26th, 2026 through Vesperian and Metal Blade Records. 

With a firm hand on the genre's storied roots and eyes and ears on the future, "Brenndar Rústir & Fuðrandi Fjörur" is a leap forward for Black Metal in 2026! In addition to a killer album, the cover artwork was created by Paolo Girardi (Power Trip, Revocation, Sulphur Aeon), and with Metal Blade Records distributing "Brenndar Rústir & Fuðrandi Fjörur" worldwide, the album is available as a limited CD Digipak with 16-page booklet + extensive artwork and gatefold LP with an LP booklet ft. extensive artwork and OBI strip on Clear/Black Splatter vinyl.

Ghost Cult's Chris Elliott caught up with Dave Buschemeyer of Canadian blackened hardcore progenitors Spread the Disease for a conversation about the band's first new full-length in twenty-seven years, The Darkness. The Dread. The Suffering, released July 10, 2026, through Hypaethral Records. Dave breaks down how the band reignited after decades away, the collaborative songwriting process with guitarist Trevor Dykstra, and what brought vocalist Shane Post, formerly of Bird of Ill Omen and current member of Fistula, into the fold.

Emerging from Southern Ontario, Canada in 1997 and long regarded as early trailblazers of blackened hardcore before the genre had a name, Spread the Disease return with the same uncompromising spirit that defined their earliest recordings. Mark breaks down the making of the record, what it meant to track with Kurt Ballou at GodCity Studio, and how The Ringing Bell delivers a devastating return to form built on massive death metal riffs, frantic chugging, and direct themes of resilience, death, and rebirth.

The Ringing Bell features an explosive drumming performance from Jay Weinberg, formerly of Slipknot, bringing one of the most talked-about collaborative moments in death metal and hardcore punk this year.

Chris Elliott of Cell Arts and  Black-Angeles Media chatted with Matt Harvey (Exhumed, Gruesome) of the Death tribute band, Left To Die! After extensive touring celebrating some of Death's classic albums, the band recently released their debut album Initium Mortis, from Relapse Records! The album is a modern re-recording of the pre-Death demos under the moniker Mantas. Matt is joined in Left To Die by Gus Rios (Gruesome, Cold Slither), original Death members Terry Butler (Obituary) and Rick Rozz (Massacre)! The album even features artwork by Dan Goldsworthy!

As always, Matt gives a great interview and is not only a student of old-school brutal Death Metal, but is also doing a great job carrying the musical legacy of Chuck Schuldiner (RIP) forward.
