For this episode, Alexz got to choose what movie to watch for this week’s conjuring, and she picked one of her favorites: GINGER SNAPS! Everyone reminisces about their awkward years as a high school emo/goth/punk kid, PMS, and teenage sisterhood. But before we get into discussing Ginger Snaps; Jeanette and Will finished KINGDOM and Alexz watched its first episode, Will is still rewatching GAME OF THRONES, and Ashley watched GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY 2 and THE DISAPPEARANCE OF MADELINE MCCANN. Jeanette has also been reading Katie Alender's BAD GIRLS DON’T DIE and previews Colour Pop’s Disney Villains makeup collection!

March 27, 2019 Episode 016: Jordan Peele is Punk AF (US 2019)
The Ghouls are all back together again! Will is back from the dead, and we all saw Jordan’s Peele’s sophomore horror feature US. There is a very brief spoiler free review before we get into a deep discussion about the socio political themes that are subliminally in the message of the movie and its exploration of how trauma can change a person. It’s not all serious; we talk about the fun Easter eggs Peele sprinkled throughout and our favorite kills! Before we get into that, Alexz basically spent her weekend at the cinema watching French genre films; Yann Gonzalez’s highly stylized slasher KNIFE AND HEART, Gaspar Noe’s psychedelic horror CLIMAX, and a midnight screening of 70s sci-fi movie FANTASTIC PLANET. Jeanette and Will were festive for St Patrick's Day and saw the new LEPRECHAUN. Will is rewatching all of GAME OF THRONES to prepare for the final season. Jeanette wants to go see BEETLEJUICE on Broadway. She also saw THE GIRL WITH ALL THE GIFTS and mentions its similarity to acclaimed video game LAST OF US, which reminds Ashley that its sequel is coming out soon. Will and Ashley were intrigued by the trailer for THE WIND, and Ashley is excited by the official trailer for MIDSOMMAR. Also, Ashley and Will spent their Saturday night watching various horror TV shows and movies, including THE GRUDGE and PARANORMAL ACTIVITY, and are horrifying enraptured by HBO’s new crime doc THE CASE AGAINST ADNAN SYED.

March 13, 2019 Episode 015: I Want To Play A Game
Will is still trapped in another spiritual plane, but the rest of the Ghouls still got together for a quick conjuring. In this minisode they talk about spooky themed games of all kinds; Jeanette wants to get Sims 4: Vampires, Alexz has been playing Lairs of Fear, and Ashley wants to get Kingdom Hearts 3 and Resident Evil 2 Remake even though she’s still too scared to play Until Dawn by herself. They also reminisce about board games like Life: Disney Haunted Mansion edition, Goosebumps, and make plans for a live episode playing Horror Trivial Pursuit. At the end they play a couple quick horror themed quizzes: “How Long Would You Last in a Horror Movie?” “What’s this Horror Movie Tagline” and “Which Horror Villain Are You?” Thanks for tuning into this minisode!

March 06, 2019 Episode 014: The (Plot) Hole in the Ground ( THE HOLE IN THE GROUND 2019)
Will isn’t present for this episode, but he was definitely there in spirit. For the main discussion, the Ghouls weigh in on Lee Cronin's debut feature THE HOLE IN THE GROUND. Is the title a misdirect? Are there enough scares? Were they left with more questions than answers? But before they get into that...Jeanette walked in on Will watching the THE DESCENT. Alexz binged on genre all day and watched THE MUMMY, THE MUMMY RETURNS, HOUSE ON HAUNTED HILL and THIRTEEN GHOSTS. Ashley has nothing but praise for season 3 of TRUE DETECTIVE. Ari Aster’s upcoming horror film MIDSOMMAR finally gets a summer release date and A24 shared some creepy promotional images to go along with it. Alexz and Ashley were impressed by Eli Roth’s HISTORY OF HORROR, plus there's a random tangent about how horrible some of the Oscar wins were this year.

The Ghouls are back with special guest, Simon, just in time for Black History Month! The gang screened HORROR NOIRE: A HISTORY OF BLACK HORROR directed by Xavier Neal-Burgin on Shudder. On this episode, Ghoul Chat discusses the uncomfortable racial undertones, stereotypes and tropes that permeated black history in horror cinema from the early years of BIRTH OF A NATION to the recent GET OUT directed by Jordan Peele. The team reviews what’s new in the genre world before diving into the main topic; Alexz, Jeanette and Simon give a quick, spoiler free review of GLASS. No one really cared for the artsy horror show that is VELVET BUZZSAW. Will and Jeanette started watching Netflix’s new zombie horror series KINGDOM. Lastly, everyone discusses their latest binges in true crime docs: the appalling ABDUCTED IN PLAIN SIGHT and transfixing and f**ked up TED BUNDY TAPES, along with the backlash of the corresponding trailer for EXTREMELY WICKED, SHOCKINGLY EVIL AND VILE (why is the title this long?)

December 12, 2018 Episode 011: Kramp*ssy Meets St. D*ckolas ( KRAMPUS 2015)
This week, the ghouls recap and review one of the most notable Christmas horror films in recent times: Michael Dougherty's KRAMPUS (2015). Before they dive in to discuss killer toys, gingerbread-men and rednecks, the gang recaps the holiday horrors of their weekend. Jeanette, Will and Ashley were scammed on Saturday by a Christmas themed mini amusement park in Long Island, NY. Alexz attended two white elephant parties and walked away with an advent calendar containing only cardboard and plastic, which prompted her to spend the rest of the weekend binge watching holiday movies, including SILENT NIGHT DEADLY NIGHT (1984). Will and Ashley were enamored with Yorgos Lanthimos’ THE FAVOURITE (2018). Jeanette reviews the trailer for Jame's Gunn's BRIGHTBURN (2019) and everyone dissects the resurgence of Karyn Kusama/ Diablo Cody's JENNIFER'S BODY (2009) as an unsung hero when it comes to feminist horror.

December 06, 2018 Episode 010: I Think I'm Pensive Over This
This week, Jeanette is M.I.A. while the rest of Ghoul Chat has a roundtable on conspiracy theories. Coincidence or not? Before they take a deep dive into the Illuminati, MK Ultra, and the Men In Black, everyone is excited about the confirmation of the CANDYMAN remake with Jordan Peele at the helm, A24 has put their entire film catalogue online streaming for free, and Ashley tentatively wants to watch THE HOUSE THAT JACK BUILT. Also, Will and Ashley beat a couple more chapters in video game UNTIL DAWN, Alexz went to go see the horror musical ANNA AND THE APOCALYPSE, and everyone watched the Blumhouse thriller CAM, which spurned a tangent about the real-life horrors of body dysmorphia, plastic surgery, facetuning and Instagram influencer culture.

November 28, 2018 Episode 009: I'm Afraid Of This Conversation
The Ghouls are back from their week long break. Some of us were spiraling, but we made it out alive on the other side! Jeanette saw OVERLORD and she gives a quick review, Ashley and Alexz saw FANTASTIC BEASTS: CRIMES OF GRINDELWALD and both had a lukewarm reaction, and Will convinces Ashley to watch LOVE ACTUALLY and get into the Christmas spirit. Also, Alexz saw Goblin perform Dario Argento’s SUSPIRIA soundtrack live and Ashley started playing the video game UNTIL DAWN but won’t continue until the rest of the gang sits with her as she plays.
In this week’s discussion, we go down Vice’s list of 50 Scariest Moments in horror movies and what about them makes our skin crawl. Find out who prefers jump scares or slow burns and what movies can be considered as “sneaky genre”. Beware, lots of movie spoilers in this episode!
