  • Gilbert House Fellowship #219: Zechariah 8-11
GOD PROMISED that the tears and fasting of the Jews who’d returned to Jerusalem would be turned to joyous feasting. Then we turn to prophecies of God’s judgment against the unrepentant nations on the Day of Yahweh.
We analyze Zechariah’s references to specific places, such as Tyre, Sidon, Greece, Damascus, Lebanon, and Bashan, a clear prophecy of Judas Iscariot, and a mysterious “worthless shepherd” who is almost certainly the Antichrist.

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #218: Zechariah 5-7
A FLYING SCROLL, a woman named Wickedness, other women with wings like storks, and four chariots pulled by red, black white, and dappled horses continue the fascinating vision of the prophet Zechariah.
Picking up from his vision of the “two anointed ones” last week, we discuss the link between the flying scroll and the one unsealed by the Lamb in Revelation 6. We speculate on the significance of the directions in which the chariots were sent (two to the north, one to the south, and another to patrol the whole earth), and the symbolic and spiritual connections between Zechariah’s vision and the land of Shinar (Sumer).
We also talk a bit about the biblical references Petra, called Sela in the Bible, its connections to Moses, and the importance of the Jordan Rift Valley in the long supernatural war of the gods.

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #217: Zechariah 3-4
WE OPEN 2019 with a study of two of the shorter prophetic chapters of the Old Testament, but they are rich with multiple layers of meaning — messages that point forward to the end times, but also back to Babel and the spirits behind it.
We discuss the Angel of Yahweh, another appearance in scripture of the Second Power of Heaven; the symbolism of Joshua, the first high priest of the remnant that returned from exile in Babylon; the role of “the satan” (and whether that job has been held by more than one entity); the parallels between the golden lampstand and the lampstands of the first chapter of Revelation; and the stone with seven eyes.
Then we turn to the significance of the “great mountain” in Zechariah 4:7. Commentators who interpret the mountain as a challenge or difficult task, Dominionists who see it representing one of the seven mountains of societal influence that must be conquered in Jesus’ name, and those who take it as a literal reference to the rubble from Solomon’s temple completely miss a historical reference that would have been familiar to the Jews of Zechariah’s day.
Remember, the Jews had just returned from seventy years in the heart of Babylonia. It’s not a coincidence that the chief god of the ancient Sumerians was Enlil, “the Great Mountain.”
In the city, the holy settlement of Enlil, in Nibru (Nippur, a city in ancient Sumer), the beloved shrine of father Great Mountain, he has made the dais of abundance, the E-kur (“House of the Mountain”), the shining temple, rise from the soil; he has made it grow on pure land as high as a towering mountain. Its prince, the Great Mountain, father Enlil, has taken his seat on the dais of the E-kur, the lofty shrine. No god can cause harm to the temple’s divine powers. Its holy hand-washing rites are everlasting like the earth. Its divine powers are the divine powers of the abzu: no one can look upon them. (Enlil in the E-kur. Translation from the Electronic Text Corpus of Sumerian Literature).
Note that the abzu (“abyss”) was the home of the god Enki, which Derek argues in his book The Great Inception was the site of the real Tower of Babel.
And who led the Jews to rebuild the Temple on Zion? Zerubbabel, whose name meant something like “sown in Babel.”
We also talk about the importance of sacred stones in the ancient world and explain the connections between Bethel (Hebrew ḇêṯ’êl), Petra in Jordan, and the Ka’ba in Mecca, the bayt allah.

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #216: Haggai; Zechariah 1-2
NOT SURPRISINGLY, the exiles who returned to Jerusalem in 538 B.C. got discouraged pretty quickly and left off rebuilding the Temple.
About eighteen years later, in 520 B.C., God sent the prophets Haggai and Zechariah to encourage the people to get busy. Somewhat surprisingly, the people listened! We discuss the prophetic aspects of the messages given to Haggai and Zechariah, and compare them to the actions of the nascent Sanhedrin today.
Here is the link to the 3-D video walkthrough of the Temple Institute’s planned Third Temple.

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #215: Ezra 1-6; Psalm 137
THE PROPHESIED return of the exiles from Babylon is the focus of our study today.
Under the leadership of Zerbbabel, who led the first group back to Jerusalem in 538 B.C., and with the encouragement of the prophets Haggai and Zechariah, the temple was rebuilt in 515 B.C. We discuss the return of the people and the overwhelming emotions of the elders who wept when they saw the foundation of the new temple — something they probably didn’t think they would live to see.

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #214: Daniel 12
PHYSICAL RESURRECTION is an aspect of Bible prophecy that’s not often discussed.
Today, we link Daniel 12:2-3 to Isaiah 26:13-19, Ezekiel 39:11, Matthew 27:52-53, and 1 Corinthians 15:51-52 to show how the prophets and apostles understood not only that we will be physically resurrected someday, but that the Rephaim — i.e., the spirits of the Nephilim (yes, them again) — will be “blocked” from this resurrection.

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #213: Daniel 11

THE END of the 11th chapter of Daniel reads like a prophecy of the wars of Antichrist. Since the first 35 verses of that chapter are a prophecy of wars that were over the Holy Land in the two centuries before the birth of Jesus, concluding with Antiochus IV and his abomination of desolation, this analysis makes some sense.

We revisit last week's study of Daniel 11:1-35, and then spend the rest of the study on the last ten verses of the chapter. We revisit last week's study of Daniel 11:1-35, and then spend the rest of the study on the last ten verses of the chapter. In a nutshell, they appear to foretell a war that brings the Antichrist to power in Israel, where he will be welcomed as a savior.

We also speculate on the identity of the Antichrist figure called the "king of the north," the "gods of his fathers," the "one beloved by women," the "god of fortresses" he serves, and even on the role of Islam in Daniel's vision of the end times.

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #212: Daniel 10:1-11:35
THIS WEEK, we dig into one of the most historically dense sections of scripture. It’s especially fascinating because the history recorded here was written in advance.
Daniel was shown a vision of the wars that would rage across the land formerly held by Israel during the 3rd and 2nd centuries B.C. following the death of Alexander the Great in 323 B.C. Kingdoms established by two of Alexander’s generals, Ptolemy I Soter and Seleucus I Nicator fought back and forth over the Levant for more than a century, and Daniel recorded the prophecy of those wars so precisely that skeptics insist it must have been written after the fact.
Except that Daniel was part of the Septuagint translation of the Hebrew scriptures, which was completed before the events described in Daniel 11.
We also discuss territorial spirits again, based on Daniel 10’s reference to the princes of Persia and Greece, and the fascinating reference in Daniel 11:1, where the angelic messenger mentions in passing that he “stood up to confirm and strengthen” the king, Darius the Mede.
We note with sadness the passing of Doc Marquis on November 20, 2018 at the age of 62. Donations are being accepted at Doc’s website to help with funeral expenses.

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #211: Daniel 8-9
IT’S NO WONDER Daniel was so distressed by the visions we discuss this week that he “lay sick for some days.”
Our study this week focuses on the vision of the coming of Alexander the Great and Antiochus Epiphanes, a precursor and type of the Antichrist, and the famous “seventy weeks” prophecy of Daniel 9:24-27 which includes the prophecy to the “abomination of desolation” (Daniel 9:27) used by Jesus in the Olivet Discourse (Matt. 24:15-16, Mark 13:14, and Luke 21:20-21).
We discuss the meaning and timing of the seventy weeks, why it points to a pre-tribulation rapture, and possible interpretations of “the people of the prince who is to come.” (Yes, it’s Rome, but “Rome” had a much broader meaning throughout most of history than we think.)
Click here for the article by Chuck Missler that Derek mentioned which explains how Jesus fulfilled the prophecy of the seventy weeks to the day, or click here for a video presentation by Chuck Missler summarizing the information in the article (link opens YouTube video).

  • Gilbert House Fellowship #210: Daniel 6-7
WHILE POLITICS hasn’t changed much in the last 2,500 years, we’re thankful that today being “thrown to the lions” is just a figure of speech. In Daniel’s day, it was apparently an effective method for disposing of political enemies.
Unless, of course, God has other plans.
This week, we discuss the famous story of Daniel in the lion’s den, and then we move on to the prophetic section of the book to analyze the four terrifying beasts of Daniel’s vision, various interpretations of what they represent, and why scholars can’t agree on their meaning after more than two thousand years of study and debate.
