It's the last Legal Brief of the month, so you know what that means!
Justine and Amanda tell you about all the people added to The National Exoneration Registry.
"The National Registry of Exonerations is a project of the Newkirk Center for Science & Society at University of California Irvine, the University of Michigan Law School and Michigan State University College of Law. It was founded in 2012 in conjunction with the Center on Wrongful Convictions at Northwestern University School of Law. The Registry provides detailed information about every known exoneration in the United States since 1989—cases in which a person was wrongly convicted of a crime and later cleared of all the charges based on new evidence of innocence. The Registry also maintains a more limited database of known exonerations prior to 1989."

This week on Gin & Justice, Justine and Amanda interview a complete SUPERSTAR in her field. Kristin Henning, a Youth Advocate, Juvenile Defender, Law Professor at Georgetown, and Author of newly released book, Rage of Innocence: How America Criminalizes Black Youth, talks to the girls about the criminalization of Black youth. She bases this on empirical and qualitative data and in her book, she weaves this data into the stories of her clients who face generation and situational trauma due to policing in Black communities. Kristin shares how the very trauma responses that Black youth experience and exert during police encounters, are the very "signs" of suspicion police tend to zero in on and how this has impacted Black youth across America for centuries. Kristin also shares her suggestions of hope and her optimism that if we can share these stories, people would not be okay with the way Black and Brown children are treated for simply being children. As Kristin states, "We need to radically reduce the footprints of police in the lives of our children."

This week on Gin & Justice, Justine and Amanda talk with Author and Trainer, Brandon Lee, about his training program, Training for Transformation and his book, Community Conscious Policing. Brandon is a Community Policing Reform Strategist and he shares his ideas surrounding reforming the policing in our communities. Brandon talks about how he has built upon the ideas of his ancestors and why it is so important to gain that lens in order to move forward as a society. He shares how he has been shaped by his own experience growing up in Oakland and his encounter with police brutality. Brandon talks about the miracle of being able to facilitate an open and honest conversation between law enforcement and victims of police brutality and how this holds the key to reform and the beginning of change.

On this weeks episode of Gin & Justice, Justine and Amanda chat with Lisa, from We H.E.A.R.T Florida.
"We H.E.A.R.T. Florida" is an organization to promote public awareness of our broken criminal justice system. To education citizens who would otherwise be unaware of the failure of our system. How prisons have become human warehouses and rehabilitation has been forgotten. How archaic laws are still used today to unfairly lock away a large segment of humanity, some for crimes they did not commit. To push our legislators, judges, and prosecutors to find a better way. To gather a larger voice to bring common sense back to the criminal justice system. "
