It is October! The leaves are falling of the trees, the air is getting cooler, and the smell of Pumpkin Latte from Starbucks is assailing everyone’s nostrils! It is also close to my favorite holiday-Halloween! In today’s episode, I discuss the history behind the iconic holiday and how out Halloween traditions came to be. Join my for a spooktacular evening!

The Ancient City was founded over 450 years ago when Spanish conquistadors established a colony. Known as America's oldest city, St Augustine is rich in history and hauntings. St. Augustine has so many spirits that it is fondly called America's Most Haunted City and is one of the favorite vacation spots for paranormal investigators. In today's episode, I investigate some famous haunted locations including Castillo de San Marcos,  Huguenot Cemetery, and the Old Spanish Hospital. Venture with me to Pine Hills, Florida, and the mysterious Sunland Hospital. Known as the most haunted place in all of Orlando, and top haunted asylums in Florida,  Sunland Hospital has quite the reputation. Built-in the 1960s, this facility catered to TB patients and was later converted to a hospital for the physically and mentally disabled.   Welcome back to the Girl and a Flamingo podcast! Today, we are exploring some of Downtown Orlando’s most haunted sites and the stories of the supernatural spirits that lurk there. Orlando is known for its theme parks and tourist attractions, but there are mysteries apart from the world of the living that haunt the streets of the downtown to this day. We journey through key places in Orlando that are known for their haunted happenings. First, we travel through one of the most haunted cemeteries in Florida, Greenwood Cemetery. Greenwood Cemetery is known for the celebrity of spirits that reside there and the experiences that surrounding residents have reported. I recount stories, share interesting facts, and haunting history of the cemetery. We then make our way down to Pine Street to explore another haunting hotspot, The Rogers Building. With a fascinating history, we learn why the halls of The Rogers Building are haunted today. We learn what the building is used for today and how its ghostly residents make their appearances to spook visitors. After making a couple more stops along the way, we end our journey through Downtown Orlando’s haunting history at the Carey Hand Building. Here, a creepy carpenter turned undertaker did his work. After the building was torn down and rebuilt, presences began to haunt the building.
