  • Episode 34: Atticus Poetry
When I am searching for words that encompass how I’m feeling, I often look to two sources…one of them being Atticus Poetry.
This week, KW and I cover Atticus Poetry, the anonymous bestselling author/poet. We specifically look at his two poetry books: The Truth About Magic and Love Her Wild.
To find more about Atticus, you can look him up on his website atticuspoetry.com, on his Instagram at “atticusxo,” and on Facebook at “AtticusPoetry.”

  • Hillbilly Elegy
In this week's episode, Aleta and I discuss the poignant and piercing memoir, Hillbilly Elegy, written by J.D. Vance.
In his novel, J.D. draws so many parallels in communities across America, compared to his own upbringing in a small Ohio town and the hills of Eastern Kentucky. He discusses his tumultuous childhood, his one constant throughout his upbringing (his spitfire grandmother who he always referred to as "Mammaw"), and how he ultimately made his way through the instabilities and trauma of his young life and achieved success as an adult.
The novel highlights themes of rural American life: the strong bond of family, intergenerational poverty, and the changing structure of community, family, and stability. His novel gives us a glimpse into what many of those around us are struggling with currently.
We talk about similarities to our small town life and the things that JD experienced/witnessed from his upbringing. As well as going off on a tangent...or two.
So settle in, get comfy, and check it out.

  • Unsolved Mysteries: Tsunami Spirits
This week KW and I hash out the recent release of Unsolved Mysteries: Tsunami Spirits, which is featured on Netflix. This episode was in Netflix’s second drop of unsolved cases, which were released on October 19, 2020.
We discuss the earthquake that hit the Tohoku region of Japan on March 11, 2011, and the deadly tsunami that followed soon after. This tsunami killed thousands of people and displaced so many in that region. However, it is the phenomenon that took place after that is the subject of our final installment of Spooky Season 2020.
    We hope you’ll enjoy!

Know your truth and burn everything else.
On this week's episode, we discuss the amazing, life changing, revolutionary new book Untamed, by bestselling author, Glennon Doyle. The book reveals hard truths, drops poetic, inspiring metaphors, and explains why we sometimes think, feel, and react in certain ways, when we ourselves don't even know why.
This book has definitely revealed some truths to us, stepped on our toes, and made us take a hard, long look at why things are the way they are. Of course, there are laughs along the way.
