Hi fellow Glampers. We’ve been gone for most of the last month as we prepared for, endured, and began recovering from Hurricane Laura. As many of you may know, Hurricane Laura was the strongest storm to make landfall in Louisiana in over 150 years and the 10th strongest storm to hit the US of all time. While it may have faded from the news it’s impact on the Southwest Louisiana (SWLA) area is certainly still affecting lives of many of our neighbors, co-workers, friends, and family members. John Guidroz at the Lake Charles American Press captures the immediate aftermath well in his article from August 28th (LINK).
GirlDad HQ is okay after the storm, probably better than most homes in our area. The GirlDad crew evacuated safely and has been home for a few weeks and we are grateful to be home. They worked long hours picking up limbs, debris, and making school work with difficult circumstances. All four ladies have been amazing with their attitude and dedication. Meanwhile, GirlDad has been hard at work making sure his co-workers and workplace get back on its feet.
For all those reasons we just haven’t been able to pull a regular podcast together for you. We’ll be back soon with tips and tricks for you but this week we’re asking you to consider doing something to help SWLA residents put their lives back together. In our episode we touch on them but you can find the full list of needed items as well as places to donate in our blog post “After Hurricane Luara“
