Dr. Egleevelyn Nunez- Sancristobal is the Founder and Principal at S.T.A.R.S. Autism
School in Miami, Florida. Dr. Nunez is best described as an inspirational leader. She has a way of motivating
teachers and students alike to work hard, keep the right attitude, and be socially responsible. Dr.
Nunez utilizes a community school model of education where ;We are all in this together; And by
this she means more than just the student body, faculty, and staff. To Dr. Nunez; includes
partnerships with local businesses, charitable organizations, and various forms of community
involvement. The community school model has done just that. Dr. Nunez has fostered hard-fought
unity by modeling a total commitment to every student. The effect has improved parent
involvement, stronger community awareness, greater social responsibility -- and of course --
measurable gains in grades and attendance.
With success like this, this school is more than a school. Under Dr. Nunez influence, S.T.A.R.S.
Autism School has become a professional development academy for teachers, a family support
system, and a safe place where students can learn. As a result, Dr. Nunez has expanded her vision to
create a new school; STARS Global Preparatory where students of all backgrounds will be integrated
as one student body, and engage in service learning, civic responsibility, and global awareness
initiatives.
Dr. Nunez actively promotes a passion for learning by collaborating in state and national
workshops, speaking at conferences, and serving committees to innovate strategic educational
awareness. Dr. Nunez academic credentials testify to this philosophy: B.A. in Special Needs from
Nova Southeastern University, MS in Autism from Florida International University and a Doctoral
from Nova Southeastern University in Education Leadership.
