The European Union is pressuring Apple to enhance the interoperability of its iOS features with Android and other platforms. Specifically, the EU demands Apple open its AirDrop file-sharing and AirPlay streaming protocols to third-party devices. Apple counters that this could compromise user privacy, citing concerns about data access by companies like Meta. The EU’s mandate includes other iOS modifications, like allowing background app functionality similar to Apple's own apps and enabling third-party smartwatch notifications. Failure to comply could result in substantial fines for Apple.

A PhoneArena article speculates that Samsung's decision to use the Exynos 2500 processor in the Galaxy Z Flip 7, instead of a Snapdragon processor, could negatively impact sales. The author argues this choice, viewed as inferior by many, could alienate consumers accustomed to high-performance Qualcomm chips in previous Samsung foldables. Success hinges on Samsung exceeding expectations in other areas like screen size, camera quality, battery life, and pricing to compensate for the processor. The potential release of a Galaxy Z Flip FE with the same processor further complicates the situation. Ultimately, the article expresses concern that Samsung is setting itself up for failure with this strategic decision.

The price is expected to increase slightly from the current model. The article highlights this as a significant step for Apple, utilizing its own modem technology for improved integration and power efficiency.

iPhone 16e: Rebranding the iPhone SE 4

A recent rumor suggests Apple may release its next budget iPhone, currently speculated to be the iPhone SE 4, under a new name: the iPhone 16e. This follows the naming conventions of previous lower-cost iPhones like the 5c and XR. The rumored release date is spring 2025, and the device is expected to utilize components from various recent flagship models. The "e" in iPhone 16e currently lacks an official explanation, though its purpose is thought to be a signal of a more affordable price. The information originates from a Weibo leaker, Fixed Focus Digital.
