“I have learned something along the way. If we offer faithfully to God what we have, somehow it will be used in magnificent ways. We must never underestimate what God will do with what we give.” These words of Dr. Landis Hugh Litchfield are a marvelous summary of the miracle of the feeing of the 5,000. With obedient disciples and a little lad’s lunch, Jesus fed the multitude and completed His fourth sign in John’s Gospel. In part four of the series,“That You May Believe," we learn about God’s resources compared to ours, His wisdom and His power, and the nature of the Kingdom He desires to bring. 

The narrative of the man healed by Jesus at the Pool of Bethesda highlights the peril of spiritual blindness—first the man healed who did not know the reason for his blessing and then the blindness of the religious leaders who saw the works of Jesus but failed to understand His heart. In part three of That You May Believe we consider this miracle and address the issue of Godly Restlessness.

Though our culture shuns hardship, we would do well to remember that God uses it "for our good, that we may share in his holiness" (Hebrews 12:10). In Pastor Kevin’s second message in the series “That You May Believe,"  we learn about Jesus’ second sign in John’s gospel, the healing of the nobleman’s son and how through adversity, God shapes, matures, and perfect our faith.

Pastor Kevin begins his new series from the Gospel of John, “That You May Believe,” this Sunday and he will help us explore the seven “signs” of the fourth gospel and show us how each of these miraculous wonders points us to Jesus as the Son of God.

Pastor Kevin will complete his series, Fear Factor, and will discuss the power of fear to snuff out our hope and remind us that suffering and the cross are the means to glory and resurrection. 

Author Dallas Willard said, “For those who love God, nothing irredeemable can happen to to you.” God always has a redemptive purpose for everything that happens in our lives. Through struggle, disappointment, failure, and heartaches, God is still working His redemptive plan in us. Sadly, too often fear paralyzes us from knowing that purpose.
