Walter Wangerin Jr., an inner-city pastor and author who died in August of 2021, penned these powerful words. “This is a mystery—that Christ can be the obedient, glorious love of God and the full measure of our disobedience, both at once.” In part two of his series from Psalm 18, The Lord is our Strength, Pastor Kevin will explore this powerful mystery as we learn that the Lord as our strength EQUIPS US is by rewarding our righteousness, transforming our brokenness, and perfecting our weakness.

The Christian journey is marked by spiritual enemies and real spiritual battles. As Jill Briscoe, the widow of the great pastor Stuart Briscoe wrote, “ We can worry or we can worship. Strangely enough, busy people find it a whole lot easier to worry than to worship.” The psalmist worshiped and in Psalm 18 we see the reason why. He knew that the Lord was his strength. Here, Pastor Kevin begins his three-part series from Psalm 18, “The Lord is My Strength” and we will learn that His delight is toward us and as our strength He PROTECTS us!

New research indicates that most people keep the promise they put at the TOP of their New Year’s resolution list. Pastor Kevin will take a close look at what ought to be at the top of our list and how when we “commit our works to the Lord,” our thoughts and plans “will be established” (Proverbs 16:3).

Thomas did not ask Jesus how he could live the good life. He did not ask Him how he could better follow His example. In part two of our Advent Series, He Shall Be Called, Pastor Kevin will explore the significance of Jesus as the Lamb of God, tracing this language through the Old and New Testaments and unveiling the full revelation that comes with John’s vision on the island of Patmos. Here we will discover that Jesus, the Lamb of God is not only worthy of our worship but as we truly worship Him, He gives us worth as well. We will learn the eternal value of worship and come to understand the words of Timothy Christensen who said, “If worship is just one thing we do, everything becomes mundane. If worship is the one thing we do, everything takes on eternal significance.” 

Thomas Merton, an American monk who died in 1968 said this of Christ—“It is He alone who holds our world together and keeps us all from being poured headlong and immediately into the pit of our eternal destruction.” This is the essence of Christ’s personal witness to John when He said, “I am the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.”  Alpha & Omega is an in-depth look at this great name ascribed to Jesus and how it reveals His glorious deity, His ultimate centrality, and His unending trustworthiness.

Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. Matthew 28:19
