In part two of the four-part series Detached-The Way to a Deeper Walk with Jesus, Pastor Kevin will address the issue of detaching from a stagnant or dormant faith. The ancient inspired sage wrote, “Let your eyes look directly ahead and let your gaze be fixed straight in front of you” (Proverbs 4:25). One of the great keys to accomplishment in the Kingdom of God is the ability to focus on God’s calling and press toward that goal without distraction. D.L. Moody once said, “I suppose they say of me, ‘He is radical; he is fanatic; he only has ONE idea.’ Well, it is a glorious idea. I would rather have that said of me than be a man of ten thousand ideas and do nothing with them.” This weekend Pastor Kevin will clearly lay out the focus of our pursuit in the coming decade (our glorious idea), and share crucial and life giving principles essential to accomplishing this vision. 

In Mark chapter 5 we find a very interesting encounter between Jesus and a man possessed by many demons. We find a man that was gripped with darkness, his story stained by brokenness, but when he met Jesus everything changed! This was an encounter that would change his life forever, and reveal to each of us God’s ability to use our life and our story for his kingdom. The title of this message is “Called to Go” and we will discover that what Christ did for this man, he has done for us, and that God has also uniquely called each of us to GO and tell the story of what God has done in our lives.

As Christians living in a world that is increasingly hostile to people of faith, we walk in the tension of trusting fully the sovereignty of God and desiring to fight back. What are we as Christ-followers to do? In the final message of this series from 1 Peter, Pastor Kevin will delve into this very issue and provide some clarity to help navigate this tension. The church that experiences trial, hardship, and suffering as they live as exiles in a world to which they do not belong, can find themselves rife with division and conflict. This need not be the case if healthy parameters are in place. Godly and accountable leaders who join with a holy congregation committed to service, will ensure a healthy church that can effectively reach their community for Christ. 

It is becoming increasingly apparent that suffering and persecution may be the lot for the Christian in America. What exactly is the New Testament understanding of suffering and what is the believer’s response supposed to be when it happens?
