Pastor Isaac Miller starts a new series this past week on our identity, what we think of ourselves, and what God has specifically engrained in us as His creation. Scriptural references include Ephesians 1: 3-14. 

As the world becomes more and more godless and the pressure to cave to the influences of our culture becomes more intense, the people of God are called upon to stand with greater conviction and shine more brightly with a message of hope and holiness. In order to do that and to navigate the land mines of a truth-denying society, we must have a North Star, a guiding principle that shows us the way. This week Pastor Kevin will address that very issue from 1 Peter 4:1-11 and together we will learn what is the guiding motto of the exile. 

New Testament scholar N.T. Wright wrote, "To embrace the Ascension is to heave a sigh of relief, to give up the struggle to be God (and with it the inevitable despair at our constant failure), and to enjoy our status as creatures: image-bearing creatures, but creatures nonetheless." Pastor Kevin continues his series from 1 Peter, discussing this week, the topic of suffering for those who identify with Christ. In this message he will address the very real possibility of Christian suffering, what we can expect when we suffer, and the assurance we can have as we face the inevitability of suffering for the cause of Christ.

In the final sermon of our four-part series on Goals, Pastor Isaac Miller discusses how we can celebrate the work God has done in our lives, and how to accomplish what God wants, we must have God-sized gratitude. Scriptural references include Nehemiah 6: 15-16, 8: 9-12, 9: 26-33, and 10: 28-39. 

In John chapter one we read the story of how Andrew, after hearing Jesus, went quickly to his brother Simon Peter and brought him to meet the Master. When Peter encountered Jesus his life was forever transformed and he became hugely instrumental in carrying the Gospel to the world. Had Andrew not brought Peter to Jesus he wouldn’t have known Jesus or made the impact on the world that he did. Paul said in Romans 10:14, “And how can they hear about Him unless someone tells them?”

Pastor Isaac Miller gives part 3 of a 4-part series on goals this week, based out of the book of Nehemiah, and discusses how God gives us the strength to overcome adverse situations and complete the task God has given us. Scriptural references include all of Nehemiah chapter 4.

At Glad Tidings our theme for 2020 has been “Bring them to Jesus!” As followers of Christ we are mandated to take the gospel into all the world, and to make disciples (Matthew 28). This week we start a new 3-part sermon series that will lead us into our annual missions emphasis. In the opening message we will be looking at a story from the gospel of Mark, chapter two, about four friends who, as the NLT puts it, “couldn’t bring him to Jesus.” The title of the message is "Canceling The Couldn’t", and in it we will see how these four friends were willing to do whatever possible to see their friend brought to Jesus!
