Hey, listeners. I know this is extremely unplanned and out-of-the-blue, but I've spent a lot of time reflecting in the past few months and wanted to share some thoughts with you. This short reflection episode was prompted by Taylor Swift's Disney+ documentary, Folklore. As we get closer to the end of this year, I want to encourage you to do the same uncomfortable self-reflection that we all need.
On this super special episode, we discuss the past seven months as first-time podcast hosts. We talk about what we've learned about each other, ourselves, the process, and what we wish we would've known before we started. Then, we get into what the future of the pod might look like. This episode is so helpful for anyone who's thinking about starting a podcast-- or any creative project in general! Don't wait-- just do. We want to thank all of you, the listeners, for joining us on this journey and for always supporting us through the ups and downs. We can't wait for you to see what we have planned for season 2 of Glass Bridges Podcast. We love you and hope you enjoy the most vulnerable episode we've put out yet.
Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD), also known as Seasonal Depression, can affect anyone. In this episode of GBP, we talk about what the difference is between Winter Blues, Depression, and Seasonal Affective Disorder. Then, we talk about the healthy ways you can cope this season as the sun starts to set sooner and sooner. But let's be clear about one thing: Daylight Savings Time is stupid and we should abolish it. Alright, enjoy!
Adrian Gooden of inHD Photography and Kelton Malone of Underline Performance join us to speak about our experiences handling the hard conversations that we try to avoid. What starts off as calling each other children over our taco preferences turns into a super productive conversation surrounding hot current issues in today's high-friction environment. We speak about the way Faith is being perceived by non-believers, empathize with the far right, and challenge ourselves to reflect on the times we've "canceled" our own friends. This episode also covers controversial situations of high profile celebrities such as Michael Jackson, Mac Miller, R. Kelly, Chris Brown, Mark Wahlberg, and more. We can't stress this enough - you don't want to miss this conversation.
Before you press play, think about who you were when you were twelve. What were you into? What were you good at? Who did you want to be? In the week's episode of GBP, we're taking the Magic School Bus back to our teenage years to talk about how 12-year old us would feel about the people we are now. And honestly, aside from participating in sin, we're kinda killin' it. Towards the end, we talk about the expectations we've set for ourselves for another twelve years into the future and find out that math really is Kalie's enemy. Oh, and neither of us do cocaine (so don't freak out, parents). This episode is an hour and 18 minutes of laughter and reminiscence, but ultimate gratitude that we're not pimple-faced teens anymore. Enjoy ~
So your career is going great, but then you realize... you're hella underpaid. You want more from your job, but you don't want to put yourself on the chopping block by bringing up a raise or a promotion. At the same time, you can't be like this for much longer. If you've ever had trouble asking for what you want in a professional environment, this episode is just for you. In talking through some of our personal experiences, we walk through what it takes to not only have the guts to demand your worth but how you should approach the conversation while keeping the turmoil low.
The past few months have been crazy. Layoffs, more black people being killed by cops, an obvious military cover-up, a Coronavirus surge, and more. We took a break to elevate the right voices in the creative community. Now, we're back. And it feels so good - as good as it can feel, all things considered.
You know those people on LinkedIn that you just can't stand? You know who we're talking about. The ones who have 3,000 ingenuine connections, are always trying to sell you something, or just wanna get in your pants. Well, on this episode of Glass Bridges we cover all the great ways that LinkedIn can help your career and all the little do's and don'ts that you should follow when you use the platform. So pull up your LinkedIn profile and see if the shoe fits! And if it does, please fix it?
