  • Episode 63: Cooper the skateboarder
Frances Cooper Darquea is a downhill skateboarder. Sounds like a simple 'uh huh people do that' statement, but no, not this. He's going down hill on some of the most gorgeous roads in the world, long drops, lots of switchbacks and interacting with cars at the same time. He goes from speeds of 20-55 mph generally (yes, highway speeds) and sometimes even faster when it's a straight clear road...because... why not?
This conversation was both entertaining, educational and exceptionally enlightening. Look at four adjectives beginning with 'e' in one sentence. Cooper's professors would be impressed :)
    Where to find Cooper:

On YouTube - all over with his sponsors & this one, I can't even fathom how he does it.

They are an enthusiastic & utterly endearing couple from Argentina who had come to the United States, living in an RV with a quest to see all the national parks. This summer, due to visa challenges, they set on a new path. You'll find them in New Zealand, this time in a van rather than a camper, exploring this gorgeous country. • Episode 56: Eric the aerobatic glider pilot
Eric Lentz Gauthier is an intriguing aviator, engineer and inventor. We talked about how one becomes an aerobatic glider competitor, a niche sport seen around the world and it seems to have happened with a degree of serendipity, likely because aviation was always on his mind. Funny how when you focus on something, the doors keep opening!
Our conversation went from gliders to Tesla to solar powered planes and a detailed description of G's.
Here's a more detailed description from his website bio:
Eric is an American competition aerobatic pilot in Powered and Glider categories. He was the 2015 and 2016 U.S. National Glider Aerobatic Champion and is a member of the United States Glider Aerobatic Team, which represents the U.S.A. in FAI sanctioned international competitions including the World Glider Aerobatic Championships held every year.
Eric began working on projects with Solar Flight's founder Eric Scott Raymond in 2007. At the time, Solar Flight's Sunseeker solar powered airplane was the only airworthy electric airplane in the world. Today Solar Flight continues to lead the electric airplane movement with the most advanced aircraft in the world.
