We wrap up our Asian Heritage Month 2022 Global Frequencies Series by welcoming Negin Fini, originally from Iran, located in western Asia. Our guest host Barb Walsh chatted with Negin Fini about her newly opened Persian restaurant, Persepolis Persian Restaurant.

With most ingredients imported directly from Iran, Persepolis Persian Restaurant brings authenticity. She is hoping for more international cuisine in NL.

This week we continue our Asian Heritage Month 2022 special Global Frequencies podcast series. In our third episode in the series, we spoke with Koshik and Payal from India to learn more about their business in Corner Brook. They opened an upscale eyebrow sculpting bar in Corner Brook, Apsara Brow Bar, in 2019. Located in the Corner Brook Plaza,  Apsara Brow has become a staple in the spa and wellness industry on the West Coast of the island. We are excited to celebrate the success of Asian Canadian Business owners in our province. 

We'll also have the opportunity to listen to multi-talented Filipino musician Ritchie Perez.

Host Renata Lang, explores how this organization helps the Filipino community in Labrador navigate integrating into their new home. With over 500 Filipinos living in HVGB, Erwin and his organization are busy!

Welcome to Asian Heritage Month 2022, the Global Frequencies series. This month we highlight several Asians who are doing great work in our province.

Asian Heritage Month offers all Canadians an opportunity to learn more about the history of Canadians of Asian descent and to celebrate their contributions to the growth and prosperity of Canada.

In the first episode of our Asian Heritage Month series, we connected with Sulagna Sanyal, a South Asian from Calcutta, India. She shares her journey of finding a home in Newfoundland and Labrador, which included opening a restaurant in her community of Dildo during the pandemic.

In the final week of our Multiculturalism Month celebrations, we host the inaugural Global Frequencies Community Brainstorm. In this session, community partners share thoughts, develop new ideas and discuss how we can all work together to bring inclusion, anti-racism and diversity to the forefront of all we do.

The third week of our Global Frequencies Multiculturalism Month edition features The Rooms, Newfoundland, and Labrador’s largest public cultural space. The Rooms showcases the province's history, culture, and arts and also provides educational resources for schools.  The Rooms, MusicNL, and The ANC formed a partnership in 2021 to host the Global Music series, which celebrated immigrant musicians. 

- In this episode, Kate Wolforth, Director of Museums and Galleries, talks with us about multicultural programming and events at The Rooms.

-  Eshan Mohammadi, photographer, and filmmaker, shares his experience curating the upcoming  Room's exhibit exploring the concept of home through the stories of immigrants to the province.

-  Zay Nova, musician and Global Music performer, shares his new song, "The Lighthouse", which reflects on the idea of finding a home.

This week in our Global Frequencies special Multiculturalism Month edition, we focus on our community partner: The St. John’s Farmers’ Market. The St. John’s Farmers’ Market is a true community space that showcases local vendors, provides space for people to gather, and organizes events and programs to reflect the needs of the community.  The St. John’s Farmers’ Market aims to create a safe and inclusive space for diversity to flourish, which extends from its mandate to celebrate the City's history, uniqueness, cultural diversity, charm, and potential.

- In this episode, Gareth Lloyd and Mario Cañas chat about Newfound Attachments and other ways the ST. John's Farmers' Market is celebrating multiculturalism in the province.

- Eldin Husic, a singer/songwriter originally from Bosnia and Herzegovina, shares stories from his life journey, experiences in the music industry, and examples of how Newfound Attachments help him grow.

Welcome to Season 2 of our Global Frequencies Podcast!  In 2020 the Government of Newfoundland and Labrador announced that multiculturalism would be celebrated in the province throughout the month of March. To contribute to this celebration, we begin this season of Global Frequencies with a special series to honour Multiculturalism Month 2022. Our first episode in this series highlighting our community partners who are promoting multiculturalism in the province features Mariana Castro from MusicNL and Andrew Kagumba, a MusicNL member.
