Global NYIAC Programs

Building on a NYIAC Program held in 2023, this session brings together perspectives from an eminent arbitrator, seasoned practitioners in the national security, sanctions and international arbitration fields, and representatives from the LCIA and ICC. It offers a panoramic overview of major economic sanctions policy-related developments since 2023, canvassing the expansion of secondary sanctions regimes, the defensive use of counter sanctions, export controls, anti-arbitration injunctions, and the increasing friction between certain national policies vis-à-vis arbitral award enforcement policies. 

A session exploring the role of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC) in relation to 2026’s Vis Moot. Shashi K. Dholandas and Gretta L. Walters in conversation with Adriana Uson will discuss distinguishing features of SIAC and its Arbitration Rules, highlighting publicly available Singapore court decisions that inform SIAC practice. 

As arbitration evolves, specialized tribunals have emerged to meet the distinct needs of industries ranging from sports and art to maritime commerce, competitive video gaming, and intellectual property. These forums combine subject-matter expertise with tailored procedures, raising questions about efficiency and the future architecture of dispute resolution.
