The low status Watal people are landless, illiterate, poor, and without political or social power. Watal tanners only number about 5,300, which in Indian terms is small, but they are known and loved by God. Someone needs to reach them! May the Watal people be eternally grateful to the God who gives them dignity because of their relationship with Jesus Christ. May they learn His ways and teach them to others.

The Purig Pa people today live underneath the majestic Himalayan Mountains that divide India and China. Some of the tallest peaks in the world give testimony to what Paul told the Roman believers nearly 2,000 years ago: "For since the creation of the world His invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead (divine nature, deity), so that they are without excuse." Romans 1:20. Pray that the beauty of the mountains will help the Purig Pas to see the awesomeness of the king of Kings. Pray that missionaries from all parts of India may reach out to the Purig Pa.

The Namdagur people make felt. They have low literacy and low self-esteem and are looked down on by other communities. Pray that they will find their worth in Jesus, and that through the gospel others will esteem them better. 

What happens if a people leave their traditional trade? As India has become increasingly urban, this is not a hypothetical question. Traditionally the 1,500 Ganz people have been taxidermists, meaning that they stuff dead animals for museums and such. Today they are becoming skilled laborers and businessmen, leaving India without taxidermists. Pray that the Ganz's openness to change will extend to spiritual change. Pray that they become open to Jesus as savior, and that entire families will embrace Him as Lord. Pray for many to be discipled, and to be used by the Holy Spirit to disciple other people groups.

There are 8,900 Dormal people living in India and almost all of them are Muslims. A complete Bible, the JESUS Film, and gospel recordings are already available in the Dogri language. Pray that God would lead workers to reach out to the Dormal people group with the message of salvation.

If you want to get your clothes cleaned in India, you take your laundry to the Dhobis. Most are Hindus, but some are Muslim. Few if any of them have given Jesus a chance to change their lives. At this time there are no efforts to reach Muslim Dhobis for the Lord. Ask God to lead a mission agency to work with Muslim Dhobis.

India's Muslim Bomba people speak the Dogr language, a language that has complete Bible and radio gospel broadcasts. Few members of this people group have become followers of Jesus Christ.

The Kashmiri Bhats had been bards and entertainers in India since 1295 AD. This people group is 90 percent Hindu and 10 percent Muslim. There are few, if any, followers of Jesus Christ among them.Pray that Kashmiri Bhats would be drawn to music that will lead them to the one who is the truth.

There are no believers or workers among them. Pray for a strong interest in Christ-centered resources among the Bandukkhar. Pray for dreams, visions, and powerful encounters to lead their leaders to the Light of the World. Pray for God-sent witnesses.

The Pangan people live in India's northeastern state of Manipur, where for centuries the women raised silkworms. In recent years Manipur has developed plans to revive its silk industry. There are 120,000 Pangans in India, all of whom are Muslim. Please pray that God will put His word into the hands of the Pangans.
