July 19, 2020Another Bad Day - Lessons in Better CommunicationsI had a really bad day recently. Another one. My Bad Day was filled with valuable lessons on how to be a better communicator. A loved one had medical problems, we had to call 911. And then a number of things went wrong after that; and once again I found myself circling the hospital searching for a place to park and not finding one. As always, bad times are made worse with bad communication. If you stay calm and talk to each other and explain the situation the disaster can turn out okay. Not great but okay. People are grumpy these days, these are stressful times. We can all make it a little easier for each other by talking to each other and loving each other. I made some communication mistakes on my recent bad day, but I also did some things right. Let me know what you think. Please share and subscribe to my podcast. The music I use is from YouTube. June 16, 2020Keeping the Faith! The number of people who will begin practicing a RELIGION is expected to increase in the coming years, according to a recent study. There is no study on the number of people who have FAITH. Faith is defined as having complete Trust and Confidence in someone or something. Now is a great time to have one or the other or both. Billions of people in the world practice one of the six religions listed below. It is amazing how beautiful the beliefs of these religions are. Buddhism: "Live in the Present and Practice acceptance of others." Judaism: "Emphasis Moral Behavior and Action in this World." Islam: "Means Pease and submission, say a daily prayer, help those in poverty." Christianity: "Practice Charity, treat others as you would like to be treated yourself." Think about how great the world would be if we did these things every day. Now is a good time to begin. Christianity: 2.1 billion.Islam: 1.3 billion.Hinduism: 900 million.Buddhism: 376 million.Sikhism: 23 million.Judaism: 14 millionThere are the articles I quote in this episode of One-On-Onehttps://www.pewresearch.org/fact-tank/2014/04/04/u-s-doesnt-rank-high-in-religious-diversity/ https://courses.lumenlearning.com/sociology/chapter/world-religions/Thanks to YouTube for the great royalty-free MusicRoyalty-Free Music for YouTubers! June 11, 2020Political Women Vote!I'm a Political Woman & I Vote! What I mean is, I like Democracy, I like watching the political process, I like voting. So this should be one of my favorite years. 2020 is a Presidential Election year, and it is also the 100th Anniversary of the passage of the 19th Amendment which gives women the right to vote. And we DO Vote! Women vote in higher numbers than men and have done so in every election since 1964. In 2016, 9.9 million more women than men voted. This information is from the "Center for American Women in Politics."Not only will Americans vote on for a new or old president this year, but we will also decide which US Congressmembers get to keep their jobs. That includes all the members of the US House of Representatives and One-Third of the Senate. If you are thrilled with the way the country is being run, then you can ignore my new series called “Political Woman.” If you are hoping for a change, then watch, listen, subscribe, and VOTE!For more information on the "Internet for All" Bill or the California Emerging Technology Fund, go to CETF.Org. June 02, 2020Racism, Riots and VOTING!It's been a difficult year. It began with COVID. Then the highest unemployment rate in history. 20 Percent. Businesses and Jobs are lost forever. And at the end of the Month of May: Race Riots. Riots! Looting! Fires!Another white cop killed a black man on May 25. It is horrific that I use the word "Another." Because this has happened before. And before and Before! We are sick of this. We wonder what we can do. We feel bad because we are not black, we don't know what it's like and there is guilt that comes with that. We wonder what we can do. We watch our leaders. At this point, anything they say seems like it's too little too late. Our country burns. Our president is clueless. There will be no "leadership moment" from him. There is only one thing to do, pick ourselves up, try to get back to work, get through the long, hot summer, and vote Trump out in November. You know damn well his supporters will come out and vote for him again. We need to hold Congress and all elected officials accountable. Vote them out. I complete this episode with two pieces of information, first a quote:"I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent." -Mahatma GandhiAnd second, here is the link to the quote I used from Switch Code. June 01, 2020Three Stinkers - Movie MondayKinda grumpy this weekend. Maybe it's the horrible news that's got me down. The rioting, the COVID, the jobless rate are all sad and depressing. Or maybe it's just bad films. One of those films that I review is "Lucy in the Sky." It is loosely based on the real-life story of that "Staker-Female Astronaut." Remember real-life astronaut Lisa Nowak's. She was the alleged stalker of fellow astronaut William Oefelein. I remembered the story because the press reports focused on the fact that she wore diapers so she could quickly drive across the US. She was following the boyfriend who had dumped her. Sounds like a must-watch, movie right? No. It's boring and way too long. Or maybe, I'm just grumpy. ...more15minPlay
