DELIVERANCE FROM THE ENEMY AND EXPECTATION Acts 12:1-25

    Acts 12:1 NKJV

Now about that time Herod the king stretched out [his] hand to harass some from the church.

    Herod-bloodline of wickedness

Herod the great murdered the boys in Bethlehem. Looking for Jesus

Herod Antipas-Jesus trial and John the Baptist execution His sister asked for John

    This Herod killed James

His son became one of Paul’s judges.

    Generational wickedness.

    What are you passing down?

    Acts 12:2 NKJV

Then he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

    Acts 12:3 NKJV

And because he saw that it pleased the Jews, he proceeded further to seize Peter also. Now it was [during] the Days of Unleavened Bread.

He was pleasing the people with killing of James so he wanted to up his score

    Like when Jesus was taken.

    Pilate pleased the people.

    Acts 12:4 NKJV

So when he had arrested him, he put [him] in prison, and delivered [him] to four squads of soldiers to keep him, intending to bring him before the people after Passover.

    Herod had Peter arrested.

    Put in prison

Deliver to four squads of soldiers to keep him until they bring him in before the people after passover

    Acts 12:5 NKJV

Peter was therefore kept in prison, but constant prayer was offered to God for him by the church.

    Peter was in prison.

Constant prayer was offered to God from him by the church.

    Constant prayer is earnest,fervent prayer.

    Prayer changes outcomes

    Acts 12:6 NKJV

And when Herod was about to bring him out, that night Peter was sleeping, bound with two chains between two soldiers; and the guards before the door were keeping the prison.

Peter was asleep and about to be brought out.

He was chained between two soldiers.

The guards were at the door.

Peter was in bondage but GOD!

    Acts 12:7 NKJV

Now behold, an angel of the Lord stood by [him], and a light shone in the prison; and he struck Peter on the side and raised him up, saying, “Arise quickly!” And his chains fell off [his] hands.

    Behold…

Angel of the Lord…..stood by him

    A light in the darkness

He struck Peter on the side

    Raised him up

    Spoke to him “Arise quickly!

    The chains fell off

    Just like the Angel

    Jesus stands beside us

Jesus is the light in the midst of a lost dark world

    Jesus still speaks

Jesus still makes chains fall off.

    Angels are God’s messengers.

    Acts 12:8 NKJV

Then the angel said to him, “Gird yourself and tie on your sandals”; and so he did. And he said to him, “Put on your garment and follow me.”

    Acts 12:9 NKJV

So he went out and followed him, and did not know that what was done by the angel was real, but thought he was seeing a vision.

Peter thinks he is seeing a vision like what he saw on the roof.

    Acts 12:10 NKJV

When they were past the first and the second guard posts, they came to the iron gate that leads to the city, which opened to them of its own accord; and they went out and went down one street, and immediately the angel departed from him.

They made it through guard posts

    The iron gate…it was fortified.

    Acts 12:11 NKJV

And when Peter had come to himself, he said, “Now I know for certain that the Lord has sent His angel, and has delivered me from the hand of Herod and [from] all the expectation of the Jewish people.”

Peter said that he was certain that The Lord sent protection and deliverance

He was delivered from two things:

The hand of Herod (the enemy )

The expectation of the Jewish people.

    Acts 12:12 NKJV

So, when he had considered [this], he came to the house of Mary, the mother of John whose surname was Mark, where many were gathered together praying.

Then he gets himself together and goes to Mary house and they were gathered praying.

    Acts 12:13 NKJV

And as Peter knocked at the door of the gate, a girl named Rhoda came to answer.

    Acts 12:14 NKJV

When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of [her] gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate.

She was so excited that she left Peter outside.

    Acts 12:15 NKJV

But they said to her, “You are beside yourself!” Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, “It is his angel.”

    Basically you are going crazy.

    Acts 12:16 NKJV

Now Peter continued knocking; and when they opened [the door] and saw him, they were astonished.

They were praying and the answer was at the door.

What answer could be knocking at your door

but doubt is blocking your belief to open and see?

    Acts 12:17 NKJV

But motioning to them with his hand to keep silent, he declared to them how the Lord had brought him out of the prison. And he said, “Go, tell these things to James and to the brethren.” And he departed and went to another place.

    Acts 12:18 NKJV

Then, as soon as it was day, there was no small stir among the soldiers about what had become of Peter.

    Acts 12:19 NKJV

But when Herod had searched for him and not found him, he examined the guards and commanded that [they] should be put to death. And he went down from Judea to Caesarea, and stayed [there].

    16 guards put to death

    Acts 12:20 NKJV

Now Herod had been very angry with the people of Tyre and Sidon; but they came to him with one accord, and having made Blastus the king’s personal aide their friend, they asked for peace, because their country was supplied with food by the king’s [country].

    Acts 12:21 NKJV

So on a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat on his throne and gave an oration to them.

    Acts 12:22 NKJV

And the people kept shouting, “The voice of a god and not of a man!”

The people were putting honor on as a god.

And he didnt correct the people and give God the praise. He accepted the praise.

    And he was immediately killed.

    Acts 12:23 NKJV

Then immediately an angel of the Lord struck him, because he did not give glory to God. And he was eaten by worms and died.

    Acts 12:24 NKJV

But the word of God grew and multiplied.

When you remove the Herod you can freely grow in the Word.

    Acts 12:25 NKJV

And Barnabas and Saul returned from Jerusalem when they had fulfilled [their] ministry, and they also took with them John whose surname was Mark.

Thank you for coming to the table. I hope that you have been fed and encouraged by today’s message. It is my prayer that you have encountered the presence of God through His Word.

Thank you to everyone who tuned into my live video! Join me for my next live video in the app.

THE HOLY SPIRIT FALLS UPON ALL Acts 10:34-48

    Acts 10:34 NKJV

Then Peter opened [his] mouth and said: “In truth I perceive that God shows no partiality.

Truth shows no partiality. The gospel is open to all.

    Deuteronomy 10:17 NKJV

“For the LORD your God [is] God of gods and Lord of lords, the great God, mighty and awesome, who shows no partiality nor takes a bribe.

    Acts 10:35 NKJV

“But in every nation whoever fears Him and works righteousness is accepted by Him.

    Fear of God

    Work of righteousness- right living

    Romans 3:22 NKJV

    even the righteousness of God, through faith in Jesus Christ, to all and on all who believe. For there is no difference;

    Romans 3:30 NKJV

since [there is] one God who will justify the circumcised by faith and the uncircumcised through faith.

    Romans 10:12 NKJV

For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord over all is rich to all who call upon Him.

    Romans 10:13 NKJV

For “whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved.”

    Galatians 3:28 NKJV

There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

    Ephesians 2:13 NKJV

But now in Christ Jesus you who once were far off have been brought near by the blood of Christ.

    Acts 10:36 NKJV

“The word which [God] sent to the children of Israel, preaching peace through Jesus Christ--He is Lord of all--

    Peace only comes through Jesus.

    Isaiah 9:6 NKJV

For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

    Isaiah 32:17 NKJV

The work of righteousness will be peace, And the effect of righteousness, quietness and assurance forever.

    Acts 10:37 NKJV

“that word you know, which was proclaimed throughout all Judea, and began from Galilee after the baptism which John preached:

The word was proclaimed throughout all Judea.

    Acts 10:38 NKJV

“how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him

    John preached:

God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and with power.

    Jesus did good.

Jesus healed those who were oppressed by the devil.

    Acts 10:39 NKJV

“And we are witnesses of all things which He did both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem, whom they killed by hanging on a tree.

They witnessed all things Jesus did.

    Then they killed him

    Acts 10:40 NKJV

“Him God raised up on the third day, and showed Him openly,

God raised Jesus on the third day.

    Revealed Him openly

    Acts 10:41 NKJV

“not to all the people, but to witnesses chosen before by God, [even] to us who ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.

Everyone was not able to see the resurrected Savior.

    Witness that God chosen beforehand

They ate and drank with Him after He arose from the dead.

Can break bread with the dead? So he was living !

    Acts 10:42 NKJV

“And He commanded us to preach to the people, and to testify that it is He who was ordained by God [to be] Judge of the living and the dead.

He commanded the disciples to preach to the people

Testify that God ordained him to be Judge of both living and dead.

    Acts 10:43 NKJV

“To Him all the prophets witness that, through His name, whoever believes in Him will receive remission of sins.”

    His name

    Your faith- believe in Him

    Receive remission

    Acts 10:44 NKJV

While Peter was still speaking these words, the Holy Spirit fell upon all those who heard the word.

Peter couldn’t even get the word out completely. But the Holy Spirit fell upon ALL who heard the word.

Faith comes by hearing. Hearing the word of God.

    Acts 10:45 NKJV

And those of the circumcision who believed were astonished, as many came with Peter, because the gift of the Holy Spirit had been poured out on the Gentiles also.

The Holy Spirit has no bounds to where He can work.

    Ephesians 3:5 NKJV

which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it has now been revealed by the Spirit to His holy apostles and prophets:

    Ephesians 3:6 NKJV

that the Gentiles should be fellow heirs, of the same body, and partakers of His promise in Christ through the gospel,

    Ephesians 3:7 NKJV

of which I became a minister according to the gift of the grace of God given to me by the effective working of His power.

    Ephesians 3:8 NKJV

To me, who am less than the least of all the saints, this grace was given, that I should preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ,

    Acts 10:46 NKJV

For they heard them speak with tongues and magnify God. Then Peter answered,

This time they are speaking with tongues and magnifying God.

to deem or declare great, i. e. to esteem highly, to extol, laud, celebrate:

2For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands him; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.

    Acts 10:47 NKJV

“Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we [have]?”

Now they had the baptism of the Holy Spirit

    Acts 10:48 NKJV

And he commanded them to be baptized in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to stay a few days.

So here they go water baptized after they got baptized in the Holy Ghost

32“And I, if I am lifted up from the earth, will draw all peoples to Myself.” john 12:32

    Acts 11:1 NKJV

Now the apostles and brethren who were in Judea heard that the Gentiles had also received the word of God.

    Acts 11:2 NKJV

And when Peter came up to Jerusalem, those of the circumcision contended with him,

    Acts 11:3 NKJV

saying, “You went in to uncircumcised men and ate with them!”

They wanted to know what is going on. The Gentiles receiving the word and peter you breaking bread.

    Acts 11:4 NKJV

But Peter explained [it] to them in order from the beginning, saying:

    Acts 11:5 NKJV

“I was in the city of Joppa praying; and in a trance I saw a vision, an object descending like a great sheet, let down from heaven by four corners; and it came to me.

    Acts 11:6 NKJV

“When I observed it intently and considered, I saw four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.

    Acts 11:7 NKJV

“And I heard a voice saying to me, ‘Rise, Peter; kill and eat.’

    Acts 11:8 NKJV

“But I said, ‘Not so, Lord! For nothing common or unclean has at any time entered my mouth.’

    Acts 11:9 NKJV

“But the voice answered me again from heaven, ‘What God has cleansed you must not call common.’

    Acts 11:10 NKJV

“Now this was done three times, and all were drawn up again into heaven.

    Acts 11:11 NKJV

“At that very moment, three men stood before the house where I was, having been sent to me from Caesarea.

    Acts 11:12 NKJV

“Then the Spirit told me to go with them, doubting nothing. Moreover these six brethren accompanied me, and we entered the man’s house.

    Acts 11:13 NKJV

“And he told us how he had seen an angel standing in his house, who said to him, ‘Send men to Joppa, and call for Simon whose surname is Peter,

    Acts 11:14 NKJV

‘who will tell you words by which you and all your household will be saved.’

    Acts 11:15 NKJV

“And as I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them, as upon us at the beginning.

    Acts 11:16 NKJV

“Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, ‘John indeed baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit.’

    Acts 11:17 NKJV

“If therefore God gave them the same gift as [He gave] us when we believed on the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I that I could withstand God?”

    The gift is Universal.

    Acts 11:18 NKJV

When they heard these things they became silent; and they glorified God, saying, “Then God has also granted to the Gentiles repentance to life.”

They couldn’t speak against this testimony. They had to shut up and give Glory to God. for granting this repentance

    Acts 11:19 NKJV

Now those who were scattered after the persecution that arose over Stephen traveled as far as Phoenicia, Cyprus, and Antioch, preaching the word to no one but the Jews only.

They were only taking to Jews.

    Acts 11:20 NKJV

But some of them were men from Cyprus and Cyrene, who, when they had come to Antioch, spoke to the Hellenists, preaching the Lord Jesus.

    Acts 11:21 NKJV

And the hand of the Lord was with them, and a great number believed and turned to the Lord.

When the Lord is in it, multiplication happens.

    Acts 11:22 NKJV

Then news of these things came to the ears of the church in Jerusalem, and they sent out Barnabas to go as far as Antioch.

They sent Barnabas to go out as far as Antioch.

    Acts 11:23 NKJV

When he came and had seen the grace of God, he was glad, and encouraged them all that with purpose of heart they should continue with the Lord.

Barnabas comes and sees the grace of God.

    He is glad.

    He encouraged them all

Told the have purpose of heart

They should continue with the Lord

    Acts 11:24 NKJV

For he was a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith. And a great many people were added to the Lord.

    Barnabas was a good man

    Full of the Holy Spirit

    Faith.

Great many people added to the Lord.

    So they are populating Heaven

    Acts 11:25 NKJV

Then Barnabas departed for Tarsus to seek Saul.

Barnabas sets out to Tarsus to find Saul.

    Acts 11:26 NKJV

And when he had found him, he brought him to Antioch. So it was that for a whole year they assembled with the church and taught a great many people. And the disciples were first called Christians in Antioch.

Found him and they worked for a whole year assembling the church.

    Teaching many

First time being called Christians in Antioch.

    Acts 11:27 NKJV

And in these days prophets came from Jerusalem to Antioch.

    Acts 11:28 NKJV

Then one of them, named Agabus, stood up and showed by the Spirit that there was going to be a great famine throughout all the world, which also happened in the days of Claudius Caesar.

A prophet Agabus comes and shows by the Spirit

    Great famine throughout the world.

Happened in the days of Claudius Caesar

God warns his prophets when there is famine coming.

    Acts 11:29 NKJV

Then the disciples, each according to his ability, determined to send relief to the brethren dwelling in Judea.

The disciples helped as they were able send relief to brethren dwelling in Judea.

    Acts 11:30 NKJV

This they also did, and sent it to the elders by the hands of Barnabas and Saul.

Thank you for coming to the table. I hope that you have been fed and encouraged by today’s message. It is my prayer that you have encountered the presence of God through His Word.

  • FIRE Challenge Day 19 "Your Prayers Have Been Heard" Live with Alnesha Wilson

    Hey Sis,

I have been battling the rapid change of seasons, and my lungs needed to heal. Here is Friday’s episode, and I will drop today’s replay later today.

Join me for my next live video in the app.

    Acts 10:1 NKJV

There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment,

Cornelius was a centurion which meant he would have had over 100 soldiers.

    Acts 10:2 NKJV

a devout [man] and one who feared God with all his household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always.

He was devout. Are you devoted to the Lord?

    Fear God

As well as his whole household, his faith is producing fruit

    He was a giver.

    He gave to the poor.

    Acts 10:3 NKJV

About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!”

Around 3 pm He has a vision and clear vision of angel of God coming to Him

    God calls him by name.

    Acts 10:4 NKJV

And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

He was afraid. But obediently ask what it is lord?

The angel tells him your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

God hears our prayers and sees what our hands are doing?

Are we tight lipped and tight gripped?

    Psalm 141:2 NKJV

Let my prayer be set before You [as] incense, The lifting up of my hands [as] the evening sacrifice.

    Philippians 4:6 NKJV

    Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God;

    Hebrews 13:16 NKJV

But do not forget to do good and to share, for with such sacrifices God is well pleased.

    Acts 10:5 NKJV

“Now send men to Joppa, and send for Simon whose surname is Peter.

The angel instructed him to send for Simon Peter.

    Acts 10:6 NKJV

“He is lodging with Simon, a tanner, whose house is by the sea. He will tell you what you must do.”

Remember Simon Peter was saying with the tanner breaking the bound yesterday.

Again we see that walking out each step.

You do this first then you will hear what to do next.

Walking by faith not by sight

    Acts 10:7 NKJV

And when the angel who spoke to him had departed, Cornelius called two of his household servants and a devout soldier from among those who waited on him continually.

He called his best godly soldiers and had to go to Joppa.

    Acts 10:8 NKJV

So when he had explained all [these] things to them, he sent them to Joppa.

    Acts 10:9 NKJV

The next day, as they went on their journey and drew near the city, Peter went up on the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.

Its around lunchtime and Peter went up on the house to pray

    Acts 10:10 NKJV

Then he became very hungry and wanted to eat; but while they made ready, he fell into a trance

Peter’s physical body was very hungary and his food getting ready he fell into a trance

The physical flesh began to want the action when you doing the spiritual work

“Trance man who by some sudden emotion is transported as it were out of himself, so that in this rapt condition, although he is awake, his mind is so drawn off from all surrounding objects and wholly fixed on things divine that he sees nothing but the forms and images lying within, and thinks that he perceives with his bodily eyes and ears realities shown him by God”-Blue Letter Bible”

    Acts 10:11 NKJV

and saw heaven opened and an object like a great sheet bound at the four corners, descending to him and let down to the earth.

This sheet drops from heaven with all kinds for four footed animals

    Acts 10:12 NKJV

In it were all kinds of four-footed animals of the earth, wild beasts, creeping things, and birds of the air.

    Acts 10:13 NKJV

And a voice came to him, “Rise, Peter; kill and eat.”

The Voice tells him to eat.

    Acts 10:14 NKJV

But Peter said, “Not so, Lord! For I have never eaten anything common or unclean.”

He says I cant eat that

    Acts 10:15 NKJV

And a voice [spoke] to him again the second time, “What God has cleansed you must not call common.”

    Acts 10:16 NKJV

This was done three times. And the object was taken up into heaven again.

Three times. Sometimes God repeats the confirmations.

    John 21:17 NKJV

He said to him the third time, “Simon, [son] of Jonah, do you love Me?” Peter was grieved because He said to him the third time, “Do you love Me?” And he said to Him, “Lord, You know all things; You know that I love You.” Jesus said to him, “Feed My sheep.

    Acts 10:17 NKJV

Now while Peter wondered within himself what this vision which he had seen meant, behold, the men who had been sent from Cornelius had made inquiry for Simon’s house, and stood before the gate.

By this time the men have arrived that were sent my Cornelius

    Acts 10:18 NKJV

And they called and asked whether Simon, whose surname was Peter, was lodging there.

    Acts 10:19 NKJV

While Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, “Behold, three men are seeking you.

Here we see the Holy Spirit said…. Holy Spirit speaks

    Acts 10:20 NKJV

“Arise therefore, go down and go with them, doubting nothing; for I have sent them.”

The Spirit gives instructions, and comforts any fears

    Go with them.

    Don’t doubt.

    I have sent them.

    Acts 10:21 NKJV

Then Peter went down to the men who had been sent to him from Cornelius, and said, “Yes, I am he whom you seek. For what reason have you come?”

    Acts 10:22 NKJV

And they said, “Cornelius [the] centurion, a just man, one who fears God and has a good reputation among all the nation of the Jews, was divinely instructed by a holy angel to summon you to his house, and to hear words from you.”

The men told Peter. You have been summon by God to go speak to Cornelius

    Acts 10:23 NKJV

Then he invited them in and lodged [them]. On the next day Peter went away with them, and some brethren from Joppa accompanied him.

They stay and the next today Peter and some brethren go to Casearea

    Acts 10:24 NKJV

And the following day they entered Caesarea. Now Cornelius was waiting for them, and had called together his relatives and close friends.

Cornelius has this gathering of family and friends awaiting them.

    Acts 10:25 NKJV

As Peter was coming in, Cornelius met him and fell down at his feet and worshiped [him].

Cornelis falls to worship Peter and Peter lets him know I am not God

God continues to make what was unlawful in culture lawful in Kingdom. God showed peter no longer call any man common or uncle

    Acts 10:29 NKJV

“Therefore I came without objection as soon as I was sent for. I ask, then, for what reason have you sent for me?”

God led the way. There was no objection when its God speaking.

But why have you sent for me.

    Acts 10:30 NKJV

Cornelius I was fasting and praying and a man appear in bright clothing.

    Acts 10:31 NKJV

“and said, ‘Cornelius, your prayer has been heard, and your alms are remembered in the sight of God.

Fasting and praying gets God’s attention. Giving gets his attention. What we do for God is noticed by God. Don’t let your right hand know what the left hand is doing

    When you fast:

    Matthew 6:16 NKJV

“Moreover, when you fast, do not be like the hypocrites, with a sad countenance. For they disfigure their faces that they may appear to men to be fasting. Assuredly, I say to you, they have their reward.

    Daniel 10:12 NKJV

Then he said to me, “Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.

    Luke 1:13 NKJV

But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zacharias, for your prayer is heard; and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John.

“But when you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing,

    Acts 10:33 NKJV

“So I sent to you immediately, and you have done well to come. Now therefore, we are all present before God, to hear all the things commanded you by God.”

    Acts 9:27 NKJV

But Barnabas took him and brought [him] to the apostles. And he declared to them how he had seen the Lord on the road, and that He had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus.

    Acts 9:32 NKJV

Now it came to pass, as Peter went through all [parts of the country], that he also came down to the saints who dwelt in Lydda.

    Acts 9:33 NKJV

There he found a certain man named Aeneas, who had been bedridden eight years and was paralyzed.

    Acts 9:34 NKJV

    This man’s faith was immediate.

    2 Corinthians 3:16 NKJV

Nevertheless when one turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away.

    Acts 9:36 NKJV

At Joppa there was a certain disciple named Tabitha, which is translated Dorcas. This woman was full of good works and charitable deeds which she did.

    First woman disciple named

Full of good works and charitable deeds

    Acts 9:37 NKJV

But it happened in those days that she became sick and died. When they had washed her, they laid [her] in an upper room.

    Prepared for burial

    Acts 9:38 NKJV

And since Lydda was near Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent two men to him, imploring [him] not to delay in coming to them.

    Acts 9:39 NKJV

Then Peter arose and went with them. When he had come, they brought [him] to the upper room. And all the widows stood by him weeping, showing the tunics and garments which Dorcas had made while she was with them.

    1 Thessalonians 4:13 NKJV

But I do not want you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning those who have fallen asleep, lest you sorrow as others who have no hope.

    Acts 9:40 NKJV

But Peter put them all out, and knelt down and prayed. And turning to the body he said, “Tabitha, arise.” And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter she sat up.

    Peter clears the room

    Seeks the Lord in prayer

    Commands the body to rise

    Acts 9:41 NKJV

Then he gave her [his] hand and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, he presented her alive.

SURRENDER ON A STREET CALLED STRAIGHT Acts 9:1-19

    Acts 9:1 NKJV

Then Saul, still breathing threats and murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest

So while Philip is on tour sharing the gospel. We have Saul who is threatening and plotting for the murders of the disciples.

    Acts 9:2 NKJV

and asked letters from him to the synagogues of Damascus, so that if he found any who were of the Way, whether men or women, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem.

Paul is on his way to bind some more of the Lord’s people.

    Acts 9:3 NKJV

As he journeyed he came near Damascus, and suddenly a light shone around him from heaven.

Before he even came near Damascus, God does a Suddenly!

    A light from heaven

God can shift things suddenly for his purposes.

    Acts 9:4 NKJV

Then he fell to the ground, and heard a voice saying to him, “Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting Me?”

He was knocked down to the ground

Hears the voice of the Lord

Jesus Calls his name twice, like yea I am talking to you.

    Acts 9:5 NKJV

And he said, “Who are You, Lord?” Then the Lord said, “I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. It [is] hard for you to kick against the goads.”

Jesus lets him to know while you are binding my people, you are persecuting me.

    Acts 9:6 NKJV

So he, trembling and astonished, said, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Then the Lord [said] to him, “Arise and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do.“

Now he is scared. Holy fear.

So he has to response: What do you want me to do

This is a great prayer point. Lord what do you want me to do

The Lord like Philip from yesterday said Arise and go then you will receive further instruction.

    One step at a time.

Walk by faith and not by sight.

    Acts 9:7 NKJV

And the men who journeyed with him stood speechless, hearing a voice but seeing no one.

    His crew was speechless.

They heard the voice of the Lord.

    No human form.

Maybe they had their own damascus road.

    Acts 9:8 NKJV

Then Saul arose from the ground, and when his eyes were opened he saw no one. But they led him by the hand and brought [him] into Damascus.

He made it to Damascus, by the hands of others. Not how his plan started out.

The Lord’s plan is higher than ours.

    Acts 9:9 NKJV

And he was three days without sight, and neither ate nor drank.

Saul is no blind and fasting and praying for three days.

    Acts 9:10 NKJV

Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus named Ananias; and to him the Lord said in a vision, “Ananias.” And he said, “Here I am, Lord.”

Certain -God had who he wanted.

Ananis responded like Isaiah “Here I am Lord”

    Acts 9:11 NKJV

So the Lord [said] to him, “Arise and go to the street called Straight, and inquire at the house of Judas for [one] called Saul of Tarsus, for behold, he is praying.

We see the call of the Lord again just like yesterday “Arise and Go”

Saul was praying and the Lord was getting ready to answer him

    God can redeem anyone

    Job 33:28 NKJV

He will redeem his soul from going down to the Pit, And his life shall see the light.

God can heal and restore anyone and the people they have hurt

    Isaiah 57:18 NKJV

I have seen his ways, and will heal him; I will also lead him, And restore comforts to him And to his mourners.

    Acts 9:12 NKJV

“And in a vision he has seen a man named Ananias coming in and putting [his] hand on him, so that he might receive his sight.”

Saul has seen in a vision that Ananais was coming and was going to lay hands on him and his sight was going to be restored.

    Acts 9:13 NKJV

Then Ananias answered, “Lord, I have heard from many about this man, how much harm he has done to Your saints in Jerusalem.

Ananais was afraid bc he knew that Saul had a reputation for hurting God’s people

    Acts 9:14 NKJV

“And here he has authority from the chief priests to bind all who call on Your name.”

He is reminding God of the the power give to Saul

    Acts 9:15 NKJV

But the Lord said to him, “Go, for he is a chosen vessel of Mine to bear My name before Gentiles, kings, and the children of Israel.

    BUT the LORD Said “GO

I have chosen this vessel to bear My name.

    Romans 1:1 NKJV

Paul, a bondservant of Jesus Christ, called [to be] an apostle, separated to the gospel of God

    Acts 9:16 NKJV

“For I will show him how many things he must suffer for My name’s sake.”

    Acts 9:17 NKJV

And Ananias went his way and entered the house; and laying his hands on him he said, “Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road as you came, has sent me that you may receive your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit.”

Ananais went and obeyed and laid hands on Saul

He received spirit eyesight and physical eyesight

    Acts 9:18 NKJV

Immediately there fell from his eyes [something] like scales, and he received his sight at once; and he arose and was baptized.

    Lepis -to peel

    Immediately

    Scales were off

The Lord peeled back the scaly flake layer of pride and wickedness

    2 Corinthians 3:14 NKJV

But their minds were blinded. For until this day the same veil remains unlifted in the reading of the Old Testament, because the [veil] is taken away in Christ.

    2 Corinthians 4:6 NKJV

For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to [give] the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

    Acts 9:19 NKJV

So when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then Saul spent some days with the disciples at Damascus.

He need physical strength for the mission to come.

The people he initially was going to bind. He is now spending time with.

Thank you for coming to the table. I hope that you have been fed and encouraged by today’s message. It is my prayer that you have encountered the presence of God through His Word.

  • FIRE Challenge Day 16 “Arise and GO” Live with Alnesha Wilson

Sorry for the delay! Today has been a day! I’m congested and trying to keep my life together.

Thank you to everyone who tuned into my live video! Join me for my next live video in the app.

    Acts 8:26 NKJV

Now an angel of the Lord spoke to Philip, saying, “Arise and go toward the south along the road which goes down from Jerusalem to Gaza.” This is desert.

Philip is told to arise and go to a desert.

Philip has to leave his mission field to detour to a mission God was sending him on.

Samaia to Jerusalem to Gaza 100 miles.

Philip was going the extra mile

    Acts 8:27 NKJV

So he arose and went. And behold, a man of Ethiopia, a eunuch of great authority under Candace the queen of the Ethiopians, who had charge of all her treasury, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,

In his obedience he got up and left.

There was someone waiting to grow in the Lord on the other side of his obedience.

This man of influence traveled to Jerusalem for Worship

How far are you willing to go to worship God?

He really wanted to go receive the word of the Lord.

    Isaiah 56:3 NLT

“Don’t let foreigners who commit themselves to the LORD say, ‘The LORD will never let me be part of his people.’ And don’t let the eunuchs say, ‘I’m a dried-up tree with no children and no future.’

    Isaiah 56:4 NLT

For this is what the LORD says: I will bless those eunuchs who keep my Sabbath days holy and who choose to do what pleases me and commit their lives to me.

    Isaiah 56:5 NLT

I will give them--within the walls of my house--a memorial and a name far greater than sons and daughters could give. For the name I give them is an everlasting one. It will never disappear!

Imagine the impact of the gospel when he returned back to his position of authority.

    Acts 8:28 NKJV

was returning. And sitting in his chariot, he was reading Isaiah the prophet.

He would have had to purchase a scroll.

    Acts 8:29 NKJV

Then the Spirit said to Philip, “Go near and overtake this chariot.”

The Holy Spirit spoke. He still spoke to us.

    John 16:13 NKJV

“However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own [authority], but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come.

    Are we listening?

    Acts 8:30 NKJV

So Philip ran to him, and heard him reading the prophet Isaiah, and said, “Do you understand what you are reading?”

He was reading out loud and Philip asked him do you understand what you’re reading?

    Luke 24:32 NKJV

And they said to one another, “Did not our heart burn within us while He talked with us on the road, and while He opened the Scriptures to us?”

    Luke 24:45 NKJV

And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

    Acts 8:31 NKJV

And he said, “How can I, unless someone guides me?“ And he asked Philip to come up and sit with him.

He sought out the guidance of Philip. He asked for help. If you dont understand something ask for help from another believer who is further along than you

We must be willing to have someone sit with us to learn from our table if we know how to explain the Scriptures.

    Romans 10:15 NKJV

And how shall they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who preach the gospel of peace, Who bring glad tidings of good things!”

    Acts 8:32 NKJV

The place in the Scripture which he read was this: “He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; And as a lamb before its shearer is silent, So He opened not His mouth.

Jesus was led to the slaughter in silence.

    Acts 8:33 NKJV

In His humiliation His justice was taken away, And who will declare His generation? For His life is taken from the earth.”

He was humiliated for our sins

    Justice removed.

His life taken to our life

    Philippians 2:8 NKJV

And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to [the point of] death, even the death of the cross.

    Philippians 2:9 NKJV

Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,

    Acts 8:34 NKJV

So the eunuch answered Philip and said, “I ask you, of whom does the prophet say this, of himself or of some other man?”

He asked was this Isaiah talking about himself or someone else

    Isaiah was prophesying about Jesus.

    Acts 8:35 NKJV

Then Philip opened his mouth, and beginning at this Scripture, preached Jesus to him.

Philip used the text that he was already in as a starting point to preach Jesus to the Enuch

Philip started where he was. We have to meet people where they are.

    Acts 8:36 NKJV

Now as they went down the road, they came to some water. And the eunuch said, “See, [here is] water. What hinders me from being baptized?”

They found water in the desert

The eunuch was ready to be obedient.

He didn’t let anything hinder his obedience.

What is hindering your obedience to Christ?

    Acts 8:37 NKJV

Then Philip said, “If you believe with all your heart, you may.“ And he answered and said, “I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.”

Philip is letting him know that belief is before baptism.

    Encuh confessed his faith

    Acts 8:38 NKJV

So he commanded the chariot to stand still. And both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water, and he baptized him.

Baptism is your wedding ceremony to show the world im in covenant with God.

You are presence of many witnesses.

Sometimes I think of it as the funeral of yourself.

You died buried with christ rose to walk into newness of life.

    Acts 8:39 NKJV

Now when they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught Philip away, so that the eunuch saw him no more; and he went on his way rejoicing.

    Supernatural

    About 60 miles

    God took Enoch

    Hebrews 11:5 NLT

It was by faith that Enoch was taken up to heaven without dying--”he disappeared, because God took him.” For before he was taken up, he was known as a person who pleased God.

    Elijah in a whirlwind

    2 Kings 2:1 NLT

When the LORD was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were traveling from Gilgal.

    Acts 8:40 NKJV

But Philip was found at Azotus. And passing through, he preached in all the cities till he came to Caesarea.

    Azotus to Casarea

    53 miles of preaching

SAUL, SAMARIA, AND SORCERY Acts 8:1-25

    Acts 8:1 NKJV

Now Saul was consenting to his death. At that time a great persecution arose against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered throughout the regions of Judea and Samaria, except the apostles.

    * Saul had consented to the death of Stephen.

    * Now persecution is great and rising against the church in Jerusalem

    * They were scattered in Judea and Samaria

    Acts 8:2 NKJV

And devout men carried Stephen [to his burial], and made great lamentation over him.

    * Devout men made sure Stephen had a proper burial and lamented over him.

    * They were grieving, while being persecuted. There is a shift taking place.

    * They were going from seeing miracles to martyrs.

    Acts 8:3 NKJV

As for Saul, he made havoc of the church, entering every house, and dragging off men and women, committing [them] to prison.

    * Saul is tearing the church up at this point.

    * He is running up in everyone’s house.

    * He didn’t care if you were a man or a woman you were going to prison for being a believer.

    * 1 Corinthians 15:9 NKJV For I am the least of the apostles, who am not worthy to be called an apostle, because I persecuted the church of God.

    * Galatians 1:13 NKJV For you have heard of my former conduct in Judaism, how I persecuted the church of God beyond measure and [tried to] destroy it.

    * 1 Timothy 1:13 NKJV although I was formerly a blasphemer, a persecutor, and an insolent man; but I obtained mercy because I did [it] ignorantly in unbelief.

    Acts 8:4 NKJV

Therefore those who were scattered went everywhere preaching the word.

    * Therefore as a result of this the scattered ones went preaching the word.

    * If Paul was going in every house persecuting, they were going everywhere preaching.

    * Matthew 10:23 NKJV “When they persecute you in this city, flee to another. For assuredly, I say to you, you will not have gone through the cities of Israel before the Son of Man comes.

    Acts 8:5 NKJV

Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria and preached Christ to them.

    * Philip takes the gospel to Samaria fulfilling the Scripture.

    * Acts 1:8 NKJV “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.”

    * Matthew 10:5 NKJV These twelve Jesus sent out and commanded them, saying: “Do not go into the way of the Gentiles, and do not enter a city of the Samaritans.

    Acts 8:6 NKJV

And the multitudes with one accord heeded the things spoken by Philip, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.

    * The multitudes were unified and listening to what Philip was saying.

    * They heard the Word and saw the miracles.

    Acts 8:7 NKJV

For unclean spirits, crying with a loud voice, came out of many who were possessed; and many who were paralyzed and lame were healed.

    * Matthew 10:1 NKJV And when He had called His twelve disciples to [Him],

    * He gave them power [over] unclean spirits,

    * to cast them out, and

    * to heal all kinds of sickness and all kinds of disease.

    * Mark 9:26 NKJV Then [the spirit] cried out, convulsed him greatly, and came out of him. And he became as one dead, so that many said, “He is dead.”

    * Mark 16:17 NKJV “And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;

    * Mark 16:18 NKJV “they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”

    * Luke 10:17 NKJV Then the seventy returned with joy, saying, “Lord, even the demons are subject to us in Your name.”

    * John 14:12 NKJV “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater [works] than these he will do, because I go to My Father.

    Acts 8:8 NKJV

And there was great joy in that city.

    * There was great joy because there was truth

    * There was great joy because there was healing

    * There was great joy because there was deliverance

    * Psalm 98:3 NKJV He has remembered His mercy and His faithfulness to the house of Israel; All the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

    * Psalm 98:4 NKJV Shout joyfully to the LORD, all the earth; Break forth in song, rejoice, and sing praises.

    * Isaiah 35:1 NKJV The wilderness and the wasteland shall be glad for them, And the desert shall rejoice and blossom as the rose;

    * Isaiah 35:2 NKJV It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice, Even with joy and singing. The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it, The excellence of Carmel and Sharon. They shall see the glory of the LORD, The excellency of our God.

    * Luke 2:10 NKJV Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people.

    Acts 8:9 NKJV

But there was a certain man called Simon, who previously practiced sorcery in the city and astonished the people of Samaria, claiming that he was someone great,

    * Simon had previously practiced.

    * He had the people astonished claiming to be someone great.

    * He had the people bewitched.

    * Bewitched : to throw out of position, displace, to amaze, to astonish, throw into wonderment, to be amazed, astounded, to be out of one’s mind, besides one’s self, insane

    * Exodus 7:11 NKJV But Pharaoh also called the wise men and the sorcerers; so the magicians of Egypt, they also did in like manner with their enchantments.

    * Leviticus 20:6 NKJV ‘And the person who turns to mediums and familiar spirits, to prostitute himself with them, I will set My face against that person and cut him off from his people.

    * Deuteronomy 18:10 NKJV “There shall not be found among you [anyone] who makes his son or his daughter pass through the fire, [or one] who practices witchcraft, [or] a soothsayer, or one who interprets omens, or a sorcerer,

    * Deuteronomy 18:11 NKJV “or one who conjures spells, or a medium, or a spiritist, or one who calls up the dead.

    * Deuteronomy 18:12 NKJV”For all who do these things [are] an abomination to the LORD, and because of these abominations the LORD your God drives them out from before you.

The Beast from the Earth will astonish people .

    * Revelation 13:13 NKJV He performs great signs, so that he even makes fire come down from heaven on the earth in the sight of men.

    * Revelation 13:14 NKJV And he deceives those who dwell on the earth by those signs which he was granted to do in the sight of the beast, telling those who dwell on the earth to make an image to the beast who was wounded by the sword and lived.

    * Revelation 22:15 NKJV But outside [are] dogs and sorcerers and sexually immoral and murderers and idolaters, and whoever loves and practices a lie.

    Acts 8:10 NKJV

to whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, “This man is the great power of God.”

    * They attributed his power to God

    * Don’t be tricked by “power”

    * Test every spirit

    * Ephesians 4:14 NKJV that we should no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in the cunning craftiness of deceitful plotting,

    * 2 Peter 2:2 NKJV And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.

The World will Marvel and follow.

    Revelation 13:3 NKJV

And I saw one of his heads as if it had been mortally wounded, and his deadly wound was healed. And all the world marveled and followed the beast.

From the least to greatest can be forgiven.

    Jeremiah 31:34 NKJV

“No more shall every man teach his neighbor, and every man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD,’ for they all shall know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them, says the LORD. For I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

    The only Power is CHRIST

    1 Corinthians 1:24 NKJV

but to those who are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

    Acts 8:11 NKJV

And they heeded him because he had astonished them with his sorceries for a long time.

    * They listened to him because they were astonished with the sorcery.

    * Isaiah 8:19 NKJV And when they say to you, “Seek those who are mediums and wizards, who whisper and mutter,” should not a people seek their God? [Should they seek] the dead on behalf of the living?

    * Galatians 3:1 NKJV O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you that you should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed among you as crucified?

    Acts 8:12 NKJV

But when they believed Philip as he preached the things concerning the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were baptized.

    * But, now there is a transition.

    * They were bewitched now they were getting baptized.

    * Philip preaches the Kingdom of God and the name and people are baptized.

    Acts 8:13 NKJV

Then Simon himself also believed; and when he was baptized he continued with Philip, and was amazed, seeing the miracles and signs which were done.

    * Philip has now led the people that were originally astonished with Simon’s sorcery to Christ.

    * So now Simon believes and gets baptized

    * And he stays around with Philip watching him to these signs and wonders.

    * Simon was marveled at the work more than the Word.

    Acts 8:14 NKJV

Now when the apostles who were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent Peter and John to them,

Peter and John are sent to Samaria to pray for the new believers to receive the Holy Spirit.

    Acts 8:15 NKJV

who, when they had come down, prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit.

    Acts 8:16 NKJV

For as yet He had fallen upon none of them. They had only been baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.

    * Here we have more biblical proof that the baptism of the Holy Spirit is a separate experience.

    * They had responded to the gospel when Philip preached.

    * They had been baptized with water

    * Now they need to be baptized with the Holy Spirit for Him to fall UPON them.

    Acts 8:17 NKJV

Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.

    * When they laid hands on them they received the Holy Spirit upon them.

    * The text doesn’t state that they spoke in tongues as all the other verse in the book of acts

    * But whatever power that Simon saw he wanted to purchase it.

    Acts 8:18 NKJV

And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money,

There had to be something manifesting in his sight that he thought it was worth paying money for.

    Acts 8:19 NKJV

saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.”

    * Thinking from a former sorcerer, people would have been moved by what act they saw.

    * Him seeing the laying hands and them receiving the Holy Spirit.

    * There had to be a tangible sign that he felt he could use to give people this same experience.

    * He wanted a new trick in his bag.

    Acts 8:20 NKJV

But Peter said to him, “Your money perish with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!

The Baptism of the Holy Spirit is a gift of God.

    Peter rebuked him.

    Acts 8:21 NKJV

“You have neither part nor portion in this matter, for your heart is not right in the sight of God.

    * Your heart is not right if you think you can use God’s gift to gain.

    * He hadn’t really converted

    * He liked the preaching and the miracles more than he wanted Jesus

    * The experience more than the relationship.

    * Parable of the sower

    Acts 8:22 NKJV

“Repent therefore of this your wickedness, and pray God if perhaps the thought of your heart may be forgiven you.

    Peter told him to:

    Repent for his wickedness

Pray God will forgive him for the thought of you heart

It’s the heart that’s the issue.

    Acts 8:23 NKJV

“For I see that you are poisoned by bitterness and bound by iniquity.”

Peter said that he was poisoned and bound

    Acts 8:24 NKJV

Then Simon answered and said, “Pray to the Lord for me, that none of the things which you have spoken may come upon me.”

Maybe Simon realized that this battle needed intercession.

Or maybe he was just unwilling to repent for himself.

No one can repent on your behalf

    Acts 8:25 NKJV

So when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, they returned to Jerusalem, preaching the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.

    Acts 7:1 NKJV

Then the high priest said, “Are these things so?“

    God of Glory

    Acts 7:2 NKJV

And he(Stephen) said, “Brethren and fathers, listen: The God of glory appeared to our father Abraham when he was in Mesopotamia, before he dwelt in Haran,

Abraham saw the glory of God before he saw the promise.

    Waymaker

    Acts 7:3 NKJV

“and said to him, ‘Get out of your country and from your relatives, and come to a land that I will show you.’

Abraham had to leave what he was familiar.

He had to walk into the unknown in order to receive where God was taking him.

    Acts 7:4 NKJV

“Then he came out of the land of the Chaldeans and dwelt in Haran. And from there, when his father was dead, He moved him to this land in which you now dwell.

Once Abraham’s father was dead, God moved him to the land where he dwelt.

    Terah was an idol maker.

He had to detach himself from the idolatry to be able to go where God was taking him.

Where do you need to leave the familiar to go where God is taking you?

    Acts 7:5 NKJV

“And [God] gave him no inheritance in it, not even [enough] to set his foot on. But even when [Abraham] had no child, He promised to give it to him for a possession, and to his descendants after him.

    Acts 7:6 NKJV

“But God spoke in this way: that his descendants would dwell in a foreign land, and that they would bring them into bondage and oppress [them] four hundred years.

God knew that they would be in bondage and oppressed for 400 years.

    Bondage Breaker

    Acts 7:7 NKJV

‘And the nation to whom they will be in bondage I will judge,’ said God, ‘and after that they shall come out and serve Me in this place.’

God will judge the nation that bond them.

After the bondage, they would serve God in the place we he told them.

    Covenant Keeping God

    Acts 7:8 NKJV

“Then He gave him the covenant of circumcision; and so [Abraham] begot Isaac and circumcised him on the eighth day; and Isaac [begot] Jacob, and Jacob [begot] the twelve patriarchs.

    Deliverer

    Acts 7:9 NKJV

“And the patriarchs, becoming envious, sold Joseph into Egypt. But God was with him

    Acts 7:10 NKJV

“and delivered him out of all his troubles, and gave him favor and wisdom in the presence of Pharaoh, king of Egypt; and he made him governor over Egypt and all his house.

    Jireh-Provider

    Acts 7:11 NKJV

“Now a famine and great trouble came over all the land of Egypt and Canaan, and our fathers found no sustenance.

    Acts 7:12 NKJV

“But when Jacob heard that there was grain in Egypt, he sent out our fathers first.

    Acts 7:13 NKJV

“And the second [time] Joseph was made known to his brothers, and Joseph’s family became known to the Pharaoh.

    Acts 7:14 NKJV

“Then Joseph sent and called his father Jacob and all his relatives to [him], seventy-five people.

    Acts 7:15 NKJV

“So Jacob went down to Egypt; and he died, he and our fathers.

    Acts 7:16 NKJV

“And they were carried back to Shechem and laid in the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money from the sons of Hamor, [the father] of Shechem.

    Promise Keeper

    Acts 7:17 NKJV

“But when the time of the promise drew near which God had sworn to Abraham, the people grew and multiplied in Egypt

    Acts 7:18 NKJV

“till another king arose who did not know Joseph.

    Acts 7:19 NKJV

“This man dealt treacherously with our people, and oppressed our forefathers, making them expose their babies, so that they might not live.

    Acts 7:20 NKJV

“At this time Moses was born, and was well pleasing to God; and he was brought up in his father’s house for three months.

    Acts 7:21 NKJV

“But when he was set out, Pharaoh’s daughter took him away and brought him up as her own son.

    Acts 7:22 NKJV

“And Moses was learned in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in words and deeds.

    Acts 7:23 NKJV

“Now when he was forty years old, it came into his heart to visit his brethren, the children of Israel.

    Defender/Avenger

    Acts 7:24 NKJV

“And seeing one of [them] suffer wrong, he defended and avenged him who was oppressed, and struck down the Egyptian.

    Acts 7:25 NKJV

“For he supposed that his brethren would have understood that God would deliver them by his hand, but they did not understand.

    Reconcile

    Acts 7:26 NKJV

“And the next day he appeared to [two of] them as they were fighting, and [tried to] reconcile them, saying, ‘Men, you are brethren; why do you wrong one another?’

    Acts 7:27 NKJV

“But he who did his neighbor wrong pushed him away, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge over us?

    Acts 7:28 NKJV

‘Do you want to kill me as you did the Egyptian yesterday?’

    Acts 7:29 NKJV

“Then, at this saying, Moses fled and became a dweller in the land of Midian, where he had two sons.

    Consuming Fire

    Acts 7:30 NKJV

“And when forty years had passed, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a flame of fire in a bush, in the wilderness of Mount Sinai.

Moses was 80 when God called him.

You still have time to do the work God has called to do.

    Fire displayed his presence .

    Exodus 24:17 NKJV

The sight of the glory of the LORD [was] like a consuming fire on the top of the mountain in the eyes of the children of Israel.

    Deuteronomy 4:24 NKJV

“For the LORD your God [is] a consuming fire, a jealous God.

    Deuteronomy 9:3 NKJV

“Therefore understand today that the LORD your God [is] He who goes over before you [as] a consuming fire. He will destroy them and bring them down before you; so you shall drive them out and destroy them quickly, as the LORD has said to you.

    Hebrews 12:29 NKJV

For our God [is] a consuming fire.

He will consume all his enemies.

    Acts 7:31 NKJV

    God communicated directly with moses.

    Holy

    Acts 7:32 NKJV

    Acts 7:33 NKJV

‘Then the LORD said to him, “Take your sandals off your feet, for the place where you stand is holy ground.

We can’t just approach a Holy God without reverence.

Jesus gave us access to Him.

We are to still revere Him

    Psalm 24:3-4

    El Roi

    Acts 7:34 NKJV

    Ruler and Judge

    Acts 7:35 NKJV

“This Moses whom they rejected, saying, ‘Who made you a ruler and a judge?‘ is the one God sent [to be] a ruler and a deliverer by the hand of the Angel who appeared to him in the bush.

The God of Signs and Wonders

    Acts 7:36 NKJV

“He brought them out, after he had shown wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red Sea, and in the wilderness forty years.

    Acts 7:37 NKJV

“This is that Moses who said to the children of Israel, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear.’

    Jesus become the prophet.

    Acts 7:38 NKJV

“This is he who was in the congregation in the wilderness with the Angel who spoke to him on Mount Sinai, and [with] our fathers, the one who received the living oracles to give to us,

    Acts 7:39 NKJV

“whom our fathers would not obey, but rejected. And in their hearts they turned back to Egypt,

    Acts 7:40 NKJV

“saying to Aaron, ‘Make us gods to go before us; [as for] this Moses who brought us out of the land of Egypt, we do not know what has become of him.’

    Acts 7:41 NKJV

“And they made a calf in those days, offered sacrifices to the idol, and rejoiced in the works of their own hands.

    Acts 7:42 NKJV

“Then God turned and gave them up to worship the host of heaven, as it is written in the book of the Prophets: ‘Did you offer Me slaughtered animals and sacrifices [during] forty years in the wilderness, O house of Israel?

    Romans 1:24-26

4Therefore God also gave them up to uncleanness, in the lusts of their hearts, to dishonor their bodies among themselves, 25who exchanged the truth of God for the lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever. Amen. 26For this reason God gave them up to vile passions.

    Just

    Acts 7:43 NKJV

You also took up the tabernacle of Moloch, And the star of your god Remphan, Images which you made to worship; And I will carry you away beyond Babylon.’

    Acts 7:44 NKJV

“Our fathers had the tabernacle of witness in the wilderness, as He appointed, instructing Moses to make it according to the pattern that he had seen,

    Acts 7:45 NKJV

“which our fathers, having received it in turn, also brought with Joshua into the land possessed by the Gentiles, whom God drove out before the face of our fathers until the days of David,

    Acts 7:46 NKJV

“who found favor before God and asked to find a dwelling for the God of Jacob.

    Acts 7:47 NKJV

“But Solomon built Him a house.

    Most High

    Acts 7:48 NKJV

“However, the Most High does not dwell in temples made with hands, as the prophet says:

    Acts 7:49 NKJV

‘Heaven [is] My throne, And earth [is] My footstool. What house will you build for Me? says the LORD, Or what [is] the place of My rest?

    Maker of ALL things

    Acts 7:50 NKJV

Has My hand not made all these things?’

    Acts 7:51 NKJV

“[You] stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears! You always resist the Holy Spirit; as your fathers [did], so [do] you.

    Acts 7:52 NKJV

“Which of the prophets did your fathers not persecute? And they killed those who foretold the coming of the Just One, of whom you now have become the betrayers and murderers,

    Acts 7:53 NKJV

“who have received the law by the direction of angels and have not kept [it].”

    Acts 7:54 NKJV

When they heard these things they were cut to the heart, and they gnashed at him with [their] teeth.

    Acts 7:55 NKJV

But he, being full of the Holy Spirit, gazed into heaven and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God,

    Acts 7:56 NKJV

and said, “Look! I see the heavens opened and the Son of Man standing at the right hand of God!”

    Acts 7:57 NKJV

    Then they cried out with a loud voice, stopped their ears, and ran at him with one accord;

    Acts 7:58 NKJV

and they cast [him] out of the city and stoned [him]. And the witnesses laid down their clothes at the feet of a young man named Saul.

    Acts 7:59 NKJV

And they stoned Stephen as he was calling on [God] and saying, “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.”

    Acts 7:60 NKJV

Then he knelt down and cried out with a loud voice, “Lord, do not charge them with this sin.” And when he had said this, he fell asleep.

A Spoken Word recap based on Acts 7

Jesus, like Abraham, had a divine call on his life to free us from our bondage.

He left the familiar of heaven and came down to dwell among us.

Jesus was circumcised on the 8th day under the circumcision covenant.

Jesus, like Joseph, was the outcast in his family.

But favored by His father. He had to come against Satan like Pharaoh.

Jesus became the bread of Life for times of our times famine.

God made his son the manna of our lives to be substance daily with no shortage or no spoilage.

Jesus, like Moses, had a call on his life from infancy.

Like Moses, who escaped the killing of the baby was drawn out of the water into the Kings palace.

Jesus escaped Herod’s threat on his infant life.

Jesus, like Moses was called the defender, avenged and reconciled the people and they could not understand.

Jesus, like Moses, became ruler and judge over those who came against him.

Jesus, like Moses had direct communication with the Father, and heard his voice say Well pleased.

Jesus, Like Moses, did many signs and wonders in the sight of the people.

Jesus, become the prophet that Moses prophesied

We, like the fathers do not obey and rejected him in our heart.

We, like the fathers, make little gods

We, like the fathers, offered sacrifices to our idols and rejoiced in our work.

But God will turn us over to our devices, like the fathers.

The fathers had tabernacle that they made a idol.

Solomon build a house that they made a idol.

But The most High does not dwell in temples made with hands

    He now dwells in man.

We like the the fathers, are stiff necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears.

We resist His Spirit. And receive not his prophets and law.

But Jesus, like Stephen, became the Word to cut to our heart so that we don’t have to go to the place of weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Jesus, like Stephen, gazed into heaven and said it is finished and took a seat.

Jesus, like Stephen endured the suffering to receive the glory

Jesus, like Stephen, cried from the cross. God please save the lost.

    Jesus, like Stephen fell asleep.

But Jesus, unlike Stephen the grave couldn’t keep.

    Complaining

    Acts 6:1 NKJV

Now in those days, when [the number of] the disciples was multiplying, there arose a complaint against the Hebrews by the Hellenists, because their widows were neglected in the daily distribution.

With growth, there would be conflict, order will be needed.

Complaint from the Hellenist(Greek culture) vs Hebrews(Jewish)

The Greek speaking Jews vs the Native Jews. Both sets of people are believers

    Galatians 3:28

There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus.

They were complaining because the widows were neglected in daily distribution.

Remember they had the distribution for those who were in need

This Old Testament… spirit of complaining was starting to arise as the numbers rise.

With multiplication, the disunity would become a threat.

Satan went from intimidation(prison) to causing division.

    Commission

    Acts 6:2 NKJV

Then the twelve summoned the multitude of the disciples and said, “It is not desirable that we should leave the word of God and serve tables.

With multiplication, there would need to be order. So the apostles were going to have delegate .

So the Twelve called a meeting of all the believers. They said, “We apostles should spend our time teaching the word of God, not running a food program. NLT

The twelve disciples told the multitude yall are capable of serving.

We can’t leave the word of God.

It was their mission to preach the word.

    2 Timothy 4:2 NKJV

Preach the word! Be ready in season [and] out of season. Convince, rebuke, exhort, with all longsuffering and teaching.

    1 Timothy 4:13

Until I come, devote yourself to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation, and to teaching.

    Acts 6:3 NKJV

    “Therefore, brethren, seek out from among you seven men of [good] reputation, full of the Holy Spirit and wisdom, whom we may appoint over this business;

    Seek out 7(completion) men:

    * Good reputation

    * Full of the Holy Spirit

    * Wise

God never meant for us to carry anything alone. Not in our faith, family or friendship.

Elevate what you are carrying and look for ways to delegate.

    Moses had to get delegation.

    Exodus 18:17-26

But Moses’ father-in-law said to him, “What you are doing is not good. / Surely you and these people with you will wear yourselves out, because the task is too heavy for you. You cannot handle it alone.

    Numbers 11:14-17

I cannot carry all these people by myself; it is too burdensome for me.

This also why we have gifts in the church.

    1 Corinthians 12:28

And in the church God has appointed first of all apostles, second prophets, third teachers, then workers of miracles, and those with gifts of healing, helping, administration, and various tongues.

    Continue

    Acts 6:4 NKJV

“but we will give ourselves continually to prayer and to the ministry of the word.“

Their mission remained to continue in prayer and minister the word

    Colossians 4:2 NKJV

    Continue earnestly in prayer, being vigilant in it with thanksgiving;

Prayer is the pre-requisite of the ministry of the word.

From the beginning, they are in prayer.

They couldn’t do their ministry effectively if they were feeding the folk, praying and teaching.

There had to be something off their plate.

They were called to spiritually feed the people.

    Acts 6:5 NKJV

And the saying pleased the whole multitude. And they chose Stephen, a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit, and Philip, Prochorus, Nicanor, Timon, Parmenas, and Nicolas, a proselyte from Antioch,

Everyone was pleased with them saying that.

We see unity again. They could make a decison together.

Stephen was noted in the Scripture to be a man full of faith and the Holy Spirit

    Acts 6:6 NKJV

whom they set before the apostles; and when they had prayed, they laid hands on them.

They had the the blessing and covering of the apostles.

The apostles took all the matters to the Lord in prayer.

Jesus prayed before picking the disciples.

    Luke 6:12-13

In those days Jesus went out to the mountain to pray, and He spent the night in prayer to God. When daylight came, He called His disciples to Him and chose twelve of them, whom He also designated as apostles:

    Acts 6:7 NKJV

Then the word of God spread, and the number of the disciples multiplied greatly in Jerusalem, and a great many of the priests were obedient to the faith.

They go back to the mission field and it takes off. The Word spreads.

    Disciples multiplied greatly.

Priests were obedient to the faith. Getting saved

    2 Thessalonians 3:1

Finally, brothers, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may spread quickly and be held in honor, just as it was with you.

    Acts 6:8 NKJV

And Stephen, full of faith and power, did great wonders and signs among the people.

Stephen full of faith. This is the second time, this is noted. He had the Holy Spirit and now this verse, he has power.

    Stephen means crown.

1st public minister of the Word after the apostles.

He did wonders and sign among the people.

    Council

    Acts 6:9 NKJV

Then there arose some from what is called the Synagogue of the Freedmen (Cyrenians, Alexandrians, and those from Cilicia and Asia), disputing with Stephen.

These people were from every region

The warfare is spiritual; it just shows up in people.

    Acts 6:10 NKJV

And they were not able to resist the wisdom and the Spirit by which he spoke.

When you have the wisdom of the Word and the Holy Spirit,

it is hard for any opposition to come up against you.

    Luke 21:15 NKJV

“for I will give you a mouth and wisdom which all your adversaries will not be able to contradict or resist.

    Isaiah 54:17 NKJV

No weapon formed against you shall prosper, And every tongue [which] rises against you in judgment You shall condemn. This [is] the heritage of the servants of the LORD, And their righteousness [is] from Me,” Says the LORD.

    Matthew 10:20 NKJV

“for it is not you who speak, but the Spirit of your Father who speaks in you.

    Acts 6:11 NKJV

Then they secretly induced men to say, “We have heard him speak blasphemous words against Moses and God.”

Secret induced men, these men had to be workers of iniquity if you can be induced to speak a lie.

    Proverbs 6:19 NKJV

A false witness [who] speaks lies, And one who sows discord among brethren.

    Acts 6:12 NKJV

And they stirred up the people, the elders, and the scribes; and they came upon [him], seized him, and brought [him] to the council.

They have stirred up the people, and the council. They seized Stephen and bought him into the council.

Same strategy against Jesus when he was before Pointus Pilate.

    Acts 6:13 NKJV

    They also set up false witnesses who said, “This man does not cease to speak blasphemous words against this holy place and the law;

They were accusing him speaking blasphemy non stop against the holy place and the law

    Acts 6:14 NKJV

“for we have heard him say that this Jesus of Nazareth will destroy this place and change the customs which Moses delivered to us.”

    We heard him say…

    Acts 6:15 NKJV

And all who sat in the council, looking steadfastly at him, saw his face as the face of an angel.

Those who were in the council, was staring at him because his face was like an angel.

    Exodus 34:29 NKJV

Now it was so, when Moses came down from Mount Sinai (and the two tablets of the Testimony [were] in Moses’ hand when he came down from the mountain), that Moses did not know that the skin of his face shone while he talked with Him.

*my notes are very raw, see transcipt for more.

Thank you for coming to the table. I hope that you have been fed and encouraged by today’s message. It is my prayer that you have encountered the presence of God through His Word.

I would love to connect with you. Let’s digest today’s message in the comments to help encourage each other.

Where can you delegate to better serve the Lord?

When we get together, I want to encourage you in your faith, but I also want to be encouraged by yours.
