ON TRIAL FOR TEACHING Acts 5:12-42
Acts 5:12 NKJV
And through the hands of the apostles many signs and wonders were done among the people. And they were all with one accord in Solomon’s Porch.
The are doing many sign and wonder in front the people
They are still in this unity
Solomon’s Porch was the place to be.
Acts 5:13 NKJV
Yet none of the rest dared join them, but the people esteemed them highly.
But none of the rest [of the people, the non-believers] dared to associate with them; however, the people were holding them in high esteem and were speaking highly of them.
You know how people are like. I can respect your faith and your relationship with God but I don’t want to join with what you got going on .
Even though they have witnessed lame walk, and a couple fall dead they still wasn’t convinced
Acts 5:14 NKJV[7l believers were increasingly added to the Lord, multitudes of both men and women,
While the unbelievers were looking with high esteem.
God was bringing multitudes of men and women.
The gospel is universal. All faces, races, age and both male and female.
Added to the lord-not membership of a church
Acts 5:15 NKJV
so that they brought the sick out into the streets and laid [them] on beds and couches, that at least the shadow of Peter passing by might fall on some of them.
They (the believers) were bringing the sick folk out in the streets all laid out waiting for people to walk by so that could catch the shadow of Peter.
They wasn’t on Solomon’s porch they were in the streets
This faith and expectation touching the outsiders
They bought the sick friends and family
It wasn’t the shadow of Peter it was the shadow of the Almighty God
Psalm 91:1 NKJV
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.
Acts 5:16 NKJV
Also a multitude gathered from the surrounding cities to Jerusalem, bringing sick people and those who were tormented by unclean spirits, and they were all healed.
This is a different multitude from other areas coming to Jerusalem with expectancy to be healed.
Bringing sick folks.
Vexed and tormented, possessed people with unclean spirits -demons
They were ALL HEALED
That means the demons were cast out and the sick were made well.
Matthew 8:16 NKJV
When evening had come, they brought to Him many who were demon-possessed. And He cast out the spirits with a word, and healed all who were sick,
Matthew 8:17 NKJV
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying: “He Himself took our infirmities And bore [our] sicknesses.”
Luke 9:1 NKJV
Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases.
Ephesians 6:12 NKJV
For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual [hosts] of wickedness in the heavenly [places].
Acts 5:17 NKJV
Then the high priest rose up, and all those who [were] with him (which is the sect of the Sadducees), and they were filled with indignation,
They are Jealous
Acts 5:18 NKJV
and laid their hands on the apostles and put them in the common prison.
Acts 5:19 NKJV
But at night an angel of the Lord opened the prison doors and brought them out, and said,
You can’t lock down what God has opened up.
The angel opened the prison doors
Brought them out and then instructed them to speak LIFE
Acts 5:20 NKJV
“Go, stand in the temple and speak to the people all the words of this life.”
John 6:35 NKJV
And Jesus said to them, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst.
John 11:25 NKJV
Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me, though he may die, he shall live.
John 14:6 NKJV
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
There are no bondage every chain is broken
Where the spirit of the Lord is freedom
Acts 5:21 NKJV
And when they heard [that], they entered the temple early in the morning and taught. But the high priest and those with him came and called the council together, with all the elders of the children of Israel, and sent them to the prison to have them brought.
Hearing the angel and being released they know have the confidence to continue
Bright and early.
But here come the high priest and his council with elders who sent to check on them in prison.
Acts 5:22 NKJV
But when the officers came and did not find them in the prison, they returned and reported,
They get the realization they are not here. And the door was still lock
Everything and everyone is in position except them.
Acts 5:23 NKJV
saying, “Indeed we found the prison shut securely, and the guards standing outside before the doors; but when we opened them, we found no one inside!”
Acts 5:24 NKJV
Now when the high priest, the captain of the temple, and the chief priests heard these things, they wondered what the outcome would be.
They have to reconsider what is really going to be the outcome.
Acts 5:25 NKJV
So one came and told them, saying, “Look, the men whom you put in prison are standing in the temple and teaching the people!”
The men you are looking for are still doing what you told them not to do.
Acts 5:26 NKJV
Then the captain went with the officers and brought them without violence, for they feared the people, lest they should be stoned.
They started out with no violence.
They fear the people not the God that just released the ones you locked up.
Acts 5:27 NKJV
And when they had brought them, they set [them] before the council. And the high priest asked them,
They are bought back in for intimidation.
There authority was slipping.
Acts 5:28 NKJV
saying, “Did we not strictly command you not to teach in this name? And look, you have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and intend to bring this Man’s blood on us!”
We told yall to stop.
Now the area is being filled with the doctrine of Christ that means its working its filling the people
And you blaming us for his death.
Acts 5:29 NKJV
But Peter and the [other] apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men.
Peter again is letting them know. I answer to God not yall.
God told us to preach his word
You told me to not preach his word
I have to go with God
Acts 5:30 NKJV
“The God of our fathers raised up Jesus whom you murdered by hanging on a tree.
Peter again is accusing them of murder
The took the curse of our transgression on the tree
We nailed him to the cross
Acts 5:31 NKJV
“Him God has exalted to His right hand [to be] Prince and Savior, to give repentance to Israel and forgiveness of sins.
We see that God exalted Jesus to his right hand Resurrection
Jesus is the Prince and Savior
He offers repentance and forgives for our salvation
Acts 5:32 NKJV
“And we are His witnesses to these things, and [so] also [is] the Holy Spirit whom God has given to those who obey Him.”
They witnessed all the things
The Holy is given to the obedient
Acts 5:33 NKJV
When they heard [this], they were furious and plotted to kill them.
Okay so now yall have to be shut up permanently
Acts 5:34 NKJV
Then one in the council stood up, a Pharisee named Gamaliel, a teacher of the law held in respect by all the people, and commanded them to put the apostles outside for a little while.
Everyone respected this man and he told the council to get off them apostles bc you dont even now what is going on.
Acts 5:35 NKJV
And he said to them: “Men of Israel, take heed to yourselves what you intend to do regarding these men.
Job 42:2
“I know that You can do all things and that no plan of Yours can be thwarted.
Then he gives two examples of men who had following but after they died the following died with them
This was different Jesus died and ascended and the growth was going crazy
Acts 5:36 NKJV
“For some time ago Theudas rose up, claiming to be somebody. A number of men, about four hundred, joined him. He was slain, and all who obeyed him were scattered and came to nothing.
Acts 5:37 NKJV
“After this man, Judas of Galilee rose up in the days of the census, and drew away many people after him. He also perished, and all who obeyed him were dispersed.
Acts 5:38 NKJV
“And now I say to you, keep away from these men and let them alone; for if this plan or this work is of men, it will come to nothing;
Acts 5:39 NKJV
“but if it is of God, you cannot overthrow it--lest you even be found to fight against God.”
You fight the wrong enemy if you find out this is God. When it’s God you can’t win this one.
God will scatter his enemies.
Psalm 68:1 NKJV
To the Chief Musician. A Psalm of David. A Song. Let God arise, Let His enemies be scattered; Let those also who hate Him flee before Him.
If God is for them, nothing can stop the plans of God.
Not even a prison door can bind the plan of God.
Romans 8:31
What then shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?
Psalm 33:10-11
The LORD frustrates the plans of the nations; He thwarts the devices of the peoples. / The counsel of the LORD stands forever, the purposes of His heart to all generations.
Acts 5:40 NKJV
And they agreed with him, and when they had called for the apostles and beaten [them], they commanded that they should not speak in the name of Jesus, and let them go.
They agree to the let them go but first lets beat the skin off you.
Matthew 10:17
But beware of men, for they will hand you over to their councils and flog you in their synagogues.
Commanded them again about not speaking in the name of Jesus
Acts 5:41 NKJV
So they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for His name.
1 Peter 4:14
If you are insulted for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the Spirit of glory and of God rests on you.
They rejoiced in the suffering for His name
Acts 5:42 NKJV
And daily in the temple, and in every house, they did not cease teaching and preaching Jesus [as] the Christ.
2 Thessalonians 1:5
All this is clear evidence of God’s righteous judgment. And so you will be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which you are suffering.
Philippians 1:29
For it has been granted to you on behalf of Christ not only to believe in Him, but also to suffer for Him,
John 15:21
But they will treat you like this because of My name, since they do not know the One who sent Me.
“Now, I charge every Christian here to be speaking boldly in Christ’s name, according as he has opportunity, and especially to take care of this tendency of our flesh to be afraid; which leads practically to endeavours to get off easily and to save ourselves from trouble. Fear not; be brave for Christ. Live bravely for him who died lovingly for you.” Spurgeon
“Yet you are a coward. Yes, put it down in English: you are a coward. If anybody called you so you would turn red in the face; and perhaps you are not a coward in reference to any other subject. What a shameful thing it is that while you are bold about everything else you are cowardly about Jesus Christ. Brave for the world and cowardly towards Christ!” Spurgeon

WHAT ARE YOU KEEPING BACK? Acts 5:1-11
Acts 5:1 NKJV
But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession.
Acts 5:2 NKJV
And he kept back [part] of the proceeds, his wife also being aware [of it], and brought a certain part and laid [it] at the apostles’ feet.
We ended yesterday with everyone giving their all now we have this couple who wanted to look like they were giving their all. But they held back.
Pride. Self gain. Look like I am a giver but I’m holding back
Maybe they want to sow a seed for a return.
Some people think God is going to bless them.
Being aware of it- she came in agreement
What are you keeping back?
God you can’t have that part!
The love of money is the root of all evil.
Acts 5:3 NKJV
But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back [part] of the price of the land for yourself?
Peter begins to interrogate.
Satan filled his heart so that:
He lied to the Holy Spirit
Keep back part of the price
For yourself-selfish
Acts 5:4 NKJV
“While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.“
Not your own, you could have given what you wanted.
It was your choice to choose the amount and because Satan and selfishness was in his heart.
He lied to the Holy Spirit and God.
This was a heart issue
Proverbs 17:20 NKJV
He who has a deceitful heart finds no good, And he who has a perverse tongue falls into evil.
Jeremiah 17:9 NKJV
“The heart [is] deceitful above all [things], And desperately wicked; Who can know it?
God loves cheerful giver
2 Corinthians 9:7 NKJV
[So let] each one [give] as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity; for God loves a cheerful giver.
Decide in your heart to give.
2 Corinthians 9:7 NLT
You must each decide in your heart how much to give. And don’t give reluctantly or in response to pressure. “For God loves a person who gives cheerfully.”
Acts 5:5 NKJV
Then Ananias, hearing these words, fell down and breathed his last. So great fear came upon all those who heard these things.
He hears these words and dropped dead
God’s word pierced his heart literally.
We know God holds the breath. He is the author and finisher of life.
God took care of it. He didn’t want this level of deception to grow in the church.
Those who heard about it. They were fearful
The fear of the Lord was now in position.
Acts 5:6 NKJV
And the young men arose and wrapped him up, carried [him] out, and buried [him].
The wages of sin is death.
Acts 5:7 NKJV
Now it was about three hours later when his wife came in, not knowing what had happened.
She doesn't know that she is a widow.
She was probably wondering why he not back yet and went to check on him.
Acts 5:8 NKJV
And Peter answered her, “Tell me whether you sold the land for so much?” She said, “Yes, for so much.”
She was prepared yes this much.
Maybe the Holy Spirit told Peter the amount. Or maybe her husband said
They had made a plan and she stuck with her husband.
There is power in agreement rather its good or evil.
Acts 5:9 NKJV
Then Peter said to her, “How is it that you have agreed together to test the Spirit of the Lord? Look, the feet of those who have buried your husband [are] at the door, and they will carry you out.”
Agreed together
Amos 3:3 “Can two walk together without agreeing to meet?”
Some translation say appointment which one of the mean betrothed (who you married to)
That’s is also why it matters who you link and yoke yourself to.
What fellowship to Satan and The lord
Be not unequally yoked
“What harmony can there be between Christ and Belial [the devil]? Or what has a believer in common with an unbeliever? What agreement [can there be between] a temple of God and idols? For we are the temple of the living God; even as God said, I will dwell in and with and among them and will walk in and with and among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be My people. [Exod. 25:8; 29:45; Lev. 26:12; Jer. 31:1; Ezek. 37:27.] So, come out from among [unbelievers], and separate (sever) yourselves from them, says the Lord, and touch not [any] unclean thing; then I will receive you kindly and treat you with favor, [Isa. 52:11.]”
2 Corinthians 6:15-17 AMPC
Being in submission to sin in not biblical.
We are called to submit as to the Lord.
The lord will not tell you to sin or lie against his Spirit.
My favorite saying I ain’t going to hell or jail for nothing.
If the man tell you to sin. It’s a no for me.
I always think of this story.
“BELOVED, DO not put faith in every spirit, but prove (test) the spirits to discover whether they proceed from God; for many false prophets have gone forth into the world.”
1 John 4:1 AMPC
Acts 5:10 NKJV
Then immediately she fell down at his feet and breathed her last. And the young men came in and found her dead, and carrying [her] out, buried [her] by her husband.
Deception is deadly.
Acts 5:11 NKJV
So great fear came upon all the church and upon all who heard these things.
The fear was great. The fear of God was in position.
All the church
All those who heard.
Thank you for coming to the table. I hope that you have been fed and encouraged by today’s message. It is my prayer that you have encountered the presence of God through His Word.
I would love to connect with you. Let’s digest today’s message in the comments to help encourage each other.

Release & Report
Acts 4:23 NKJV
And being let go, they went to their own [companions] and reported all that the chief priests and elders had said to them.
So because they could keep them in prison they were let go and now are telling all the other companions (disciples) what had been said to them.
Response
Acts 4:24 NKJV
So when they heard that, they raised their voice to God with one accord and said: “Lord, You [are] God, who made heaven and earth and the sea, and all that is in them,
Their first line of defense is prayer. So they raise their voice in one accord. They are unified.
They acknowledged that God made heaven, earth and sea and everything and everyone in the earth.
The kingdom of God is voice activated.
The text said voice so its one person doing the praying according to commentary
They prayed Scripture Psalm 2
We should pray Scripture:
to fight the enemy, to praise God and proclaim His promises over us.
Acts 4:25 NKJV
“who by the mouth of Your servant David have said: ‘Why did the nations rage, And the people plot vain things?
David said do nations rage and people plot against the Almighty God. TLB
Acts 4:26 NKJV
The kings of the earth took their stand, And the rulers were gathered together Against the LORD and against His Christ.’
God they took their stand now Lord you take yours,
They are against you Almighty God and against your son Jesus.
Acts 4:27 NKJV
“For truly against Your holy Servant Jesus, whom You anointed, both Herod and Pontius Pilate, with the Gentiles and the people of Israel, were gathered together
Revelation 17:14 NKJV
“These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb will overcome them, for He is Lord of lords and King of kings; and those [who are] with Him [are] called, chosen, and faithful.”
Revelation 19:16 NKJV
And He has on [His] robe and on His thigh a name written: KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.
Revelation 12:10 NKJV
Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, “Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.
Acts 4:28 NKJV
“to do whatever Your hand and Your purpose determined before to be done.
God has predetermined everything that needed to be done then and what needs to be done now.
The enemy can only move in accordance
to what the hand of God has determined.
Request
Acts 4:29 NKJV
“Now, Lord, look on their threats, and grant to Your servants that with all boldness they may speak Your word,
Acts 4:30 NKJV
“by stretching out Your hand to heal, and that signs and wonders may be done through the name of Your holy Servant Jesus.”
Their prayer request list and how we can apply to our lives:
* Look at their threats (prayer for our enemies)
* Grant your servants boldness (pray for boldness and servanthood)
* Let them speak your Word (pray for understanding of the Word)
* Let your hand do the healing(pray for healing)
* Allow signs and wonders to be done through the name of Jesus (pray for God to move by Jesus)
Results
Acts 4:31 NKJV
And when they had prayed, the place where they were assembled together was shaken; and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and they spoke the word of God with boldness.
God heard their prayer.
The place was shaking.
We need some room and building shaken prayer meetings.
Filled with the Holy Spirit
Like yesterday. The needed to be continuously filled by the Holy Spirit. This is the 3rd time on the challenge, we see the filling of the Holy Spirit.
We need the Holy Spirit to fill us up so that
we can speak the word effectively and with boldness.
Acts 4:32 NKJV
Now the multitude of those who believed were of one heart and one soul; neither did anyone say that any of the things he possessed was his own, but they had all things in common.
They are fully one. One heart. One soul. One band.
Nothing was kept safe for self.
Everything and everyone surrendered.
Acts 4:33 NKJV
And with great power the apostles gave witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And great grace was upon them all.
They became a powerful witness to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus.
Grace was upon them. The favor of God was upon them.
They preached the resurrection of Jesus.
If the resurrection didn’t exist, our faith is void.
Acts 4:34 NKJV
Nor was there anyone among them who lacked; for all who were possessors of lands or houses sold them, and brought the proceeds of the things that were sold,
There was no lack or no poverty.
They didn’t hold their possessions they sold them and used the proceeds to help those in need.
Acts 4:35 NKJV
and laid [them] at the apostles’ feet; and they distributed to each as anyone had need.
Acts 4:36 NKJV
And Joses, who was also named Barnabas by the apostles (which is translated Son of Encouragement), a Levite of the country of Cyprus,
Acts 4:37 NKJV
having land, sold [it], and brought the money and laid [it] at the apostles’ feet.
Honorable mention of Barnabas who have some land and sold it and he brung his proceed.
They were all bringing in their supply of the mission.
Thank you for coming to the table. I hope that you have been fed and encouraged by today’s message. It is my prayer that you have encountered the presence of God through His Word.
I would love to connect with you. Let’s digest today’s message in the comments to help encourage each other.
How are you putting your supply in to the Kingdom?

THE GOSPEL IS UNCHAINED BECAUSE OF THE NAME
Acts 4:1-22
“Sad You Sees”
Acts 4:1 NKJV
Now as they spoke to the people, the priests, the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them,
This is still Peter and John speaking to people and now the priest, captains and sadducees came up on them.
Acts 4:2 NKJV
being greatly disturbed that they taught the people and preached in Jesus the resurrection from the dead.
KJV- being grieved that they were teaching and preaching about the resurrection of Jesus from the dead
The Sadducees were SAD YOU SEE because they did not believe in the resurrection.
Acts 4:3 NKJV
And they laid hands on them, and put [them] in custody until the next day, for it was already evening.
They might have been put into custody but the gospel was unchained because of the name. As a result, the word they spoke caused many to believe and now up to about 5,000 men have given their life to Christ.
You can not lock up the Word of God.
Save the Men. Save the Family
Acts 4:4 NKJV
However, many of those who heard the word believed; and the number of the men came to be about five thousand.
The number of men….This is not counting the women and children
The men were getting saved
We need the men of families getting saved.
Statistics show that the men getting saved first
There is a 93% chance of the family getting saved.
If these men are leaving this experience with Jesus and taking it back to their homes and community. Imagine the impact it had then and imagine the impact it could have now.
I don’t teach men, but ladies pray for the men in your left to get in the WORD now!
Acts 4:5 NKJV
And it came to pass, on the next day, that their rulers, elders, and scribes,
Acts 4:6 NKJV
as well as Annas the high priest, Caiaphas, John, and Alexander, and as many as were of the family of the high priest, were gathered together at Jerusalem.
The next day…the whole squad coming against them
Acts 4:7 NKJV
And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, “By what power or by what name have you done this?”
The question of the hour: where this power comes from or who name you doing this in?
Acts 4:8 NKJV
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “Rulers of the people and elders of Israel:
Peter filled with the Holy Spirit,
Refill me Holy Spirit!!!!!
Ruler of the people and the elders
Notice that Peter did not say rulers over us
You might rule them but you don’t rule us.
You rule the people. I am filled by the Spirit.
Acts 4:9 NKJV
“If we this day are judged for a good deed [done] to a helpless man, by what means he has been made well,
You are judging us for doing a good deed to help a man
Why should it matter how he got well?
This man needed healing and got it.
Acts 4:10 NKJV
“let it be known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised from the dead, by Him this man stands here before you whole.
Since you want to know so bad by what name… The name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth
Peter reminds him again. The one you crucified but God raised
It’s Him that made this man whole.
Acts 4:11 NKJV
“This is the ‘stone which was rejected by you builders, which has become the chief cornerstone.’
The most necessary stone for any building is the cornerstone
You rejected the one piece to build your life.
If Christ is not your cornerstone then you are building a faulty life.
Acts 4:12 NKJV
“Nor is there salvation in any other, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
No other name has the power on this earth to save
We must be saved.
At that name every knee is going to bow and every tongue confess.
You can do it now or later but it’s going to get done.
Seeing Is Believing
Acts 4:13 NKJV
Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were uneducated and untrained men, they marveled. And they realized that they had been with Jesus.
They had a boldness that was visual.
Their perception was that Peter and John were uneducated and untrained ignorant
because they didn’t have formal training.
But they marveled at and took knowledge of them.
They had been with Jesus and that was all the knowledge they needed. They had the relationship and the experience of Jesus the living Word with them
Do you have enough evidence that you been with Jesus?
Acts 4:14 NKJV
And seeing the man who had been healed standing with them, they could say nothing against it.
The evidence of the healing was speaking louder than anything.
This grown man was standing with Peter and John healed. He was lame and now healed
There was nothing they could say against it.
The proof was in the pudding.
Acts 4:15 NKJV
But when they had commanded them to go aside out of the council, they conferred among themselves,
The council was counseling themselves.
2 Corinthians 10:12
When they measure themselves by themselves and compare themselves with themselves, they lack wisdom and behave like fools.
What happens when you seek counsel with those who think like you.
Many counsel there is safety.
Rehobam sought the counsel of what he wanted to hear.
When the counsel is not wise, there will be a demise.
Acts 4:16 NKJV
saying, “What shall we do to these men? For, indeed, that a notable miracle has been done through them [is] evident to all who dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny [it].
The council didn’t know what to do because this was a notable miracle done THROUGH them with evidence to all.
There was no denying what happened with this miracle and they needed to stop it and make them shut up.
Stop the Spread
Acts 4:17 Acts 4:18 NKJV
“But so that it spreads no further among the people, let us severely threaten them, that from now on they speak to no man in this name.“
So they called them and commanded them not to speak at all nor teach in the name of Jesus.
They wanted the ball to stop there. One healing down and they were intimidated already.
Severely threaten them
Don’t speak the name to no man.
Don’t speak the name at all.
Don’t teach the name of Jesus.
Speak The Name
Acts 4:19 NKJV
But Peter and John answered and said to them, “Whether it is right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God, you judge.
Is it right in the sight of God to listen to you more than to God?
Whose voice are you listening to more in your life?
Acts 4:20 NKJV
“For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and heard.“
We have to speak and testify of what we have experienced.
Acts 4:21 NKJV
So when they had further threatened them, they let them go, finding no way of punishing them, because of the people, since they all glorified God for what had been done.
The threats continued but so did the glory of God.
They had to be let go because the gospel is unchained because of the name
There is no punishment for the people of God because Christ took the punishment for our transgression.
The glory of God was being told by the people from the healing.
Acts 4:22 NKJV
For the man was over forty years old on whom this miracle of healing had been performed.
This man waited forty years of his life for healing
The miracle was indeed performed

Begging to a Blessing
Acts 3:1 NKJV
Now Peter and John went up together to the temple at the hour of prayer, the ninth [hour].
The hour of prayer -9th hour -3 pm our time.
Do you have set prayer times?
Acts 3:2 NKJV
And a certain man lame from his mother’s womb was carried, whom they laid daily at the gate of the temple which is called Beautiful, to ask alms from those who entered the temple;
Lame from birth
Laid daily
The temple was called Beautiful
Begging for alms asking for money
Acts 3:3 NKJV
who, seeing Peter and John about to go into the temple, asked for alms.
Acts 3:4 NKJV
And fixing his eyes on him, with John, Peter said, “Look at us.”
Acts 3:5 NKJV
So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.
Acts 3:6 NKJV
Then Peter said, “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I do have I give you: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk.”
What he needed money couldn’t buy .
Peter and John didn't have any money but they had deliverance.
The Beggar got more than he asked for.
Ephesians 3:20 KJV
Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
In the Name, healing came.
What do you have that you can offer someone?
Matthew 10:9 NKJV
“Provide neither gold nor silver nor copper in your money belts,
Acts 3:7 NKJV
And he took him by the right hand and lifted [him] up, and immediately his feet and ankle bones received strength.
He went from weak to strong.
Acts 3:8 NKJV
So he, leaping up, stood and walked and entered the temple with them--walking, leaping, and praising God.
He went from laying to leaping
Begging to praising
Isaiah 35:6 NKJV
Then the lame shall leap like a deer, And the tongue of the dumb sing. For waters shall burst forth in the wilderness, And streams in the desert.
Matthew 11:4 Jesus said the lame will walk
Acts 3:9 NKJV
And all the people saw him walking and praising God.
Acts 3:10 NKJV
Then they knew that it was he who sat begging alms at the Beautiful Gate of the temple; and they were filled with wonder and amazement at what had happened to him.
They saw him and knew he was beggar and lame. And now they want to know what happened, how he is now walking and praising God.
Acts 3:11 NKJV
Now as the lame man who was healed held on to Peter and John, all the people ran together to them in the porch which is called Solomon’s, greatly amazed.
Everyone wants to see what happened and get a closer look.
Acts 3:12 NKJV
So when Peter saw [it], he responded to the people: “Men of Israel, why do you marvel at this? Or why look so intently at us, as though by our own power or godliness we had made this man walk?
Peter is ready to check them and let know.
Don’t look at us look at God.
The God you denied and the Jesus you killed.
Acts 3:13 NKJV
“The God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, glorified His Servant Jesus, whom you delivered up and denied in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to let [Him] go.
Acts 3:14 NKJV
“But you denied the Holy One and the Just, and asked for a murderer to be granted to you,
Acts 3:15 NKJV
“and killed the Prince of life, whom God raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.
Acts 3:16 NKJV
“And His name, through faith in His name, has made this man strong, whom you see and know. Yes, the faith which [comes] through Him has given him this perfect soundness in the presence of you all.
Faith in His name makes one strong.
Faith comes through Jesus.
Faith made the lame man receive perfect soundness.
Faith was made known in the presence of all.
Acts 3:17 NKJV
“Yet now, brethren, I know that you did [it] in ignorance, as [did] also your rulers.
We say and do things in our own ignorance.
Acts 3:18 NKJV
“But those things which God foretold by the mouth of all His prophets, that the Christ would suffer, He has thus fulfilled.
God told it beforehand that Jesus would suffer and it was fulfilled.
Refreshment or Rejection
Acts 3:19 NKJV
“Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord,
Peter gives the invitation again.
Repent
Be converted
Two reasons:
Sins may be blotted out
Times of refreshing from being in the presence of the Lord.
Are you refreshed after being in the Word and sitting with the Lord?
Lamentations 5:21 NKJV
Turn us back to You, O LORD, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old,
Ezekiel 18:32 NKJV
“For I have no pleasure in the death of one who dies,” says the Lord GOD. “Therefore turn and live!”
Joel 2:13 NKJV
So rend your heart, and not your garments; Return to the LORD your God, For He [is] gracious and merciful, Slow to anger, and of great kindness; And He relents from doing harm.
Matthew 18:3 NKJV
and said, “Assuredly, I say to you, unless you are converted and become as little children, you will by no means enter the kingdom of heaven.
Psalm 32:5 NKJV
I acknowledged my sin to You, And my iniquity I have not hidden. I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the LORD,” And You forgave the iniquity of my sin. Selah
Acts 3:20 NKJV
“and that He may send Jesus Christ, who was preached to you before,
Acts 3:21 NKJV
“whom heaven must receive until the times of restoration of all things, which God has spoken by the mouth of all His holy prophets since the world began.
Acts 3:22 NKJV
“For Moses truly said to the fathers, ‘The LORD your God will raise up for you a Prophet like me from your brethren. Him you shall hear in all things, whatever He says to you.
Acts 3:23 NKJV
‘And it shall be [that] every soul who will not hear that Prophet shall be utterly destroyed from among the people.’
Mark 16:16 NKJV
“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
John 3:18 NKJV
“He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:20 NKJV
“For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed.
John 8:24 NKJV
“Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I am [He], you will die in your sins.”
John 12:48 NKJV
“He who rejects Me, and does not receive My words, has that which judges him--the word that I have spoken will judge him in the last day.
2 Thessalonians 1:7 NKJV
and to [give] you who are troubled rest with us when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with His mighty angels,
2 Thessalonians 1:8 NKJV
in flaming fire taking vengeance on those who do not know God, and on those who do not obey the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ.
2 Thessalonians 1:9 NKJV
These shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord and from the glory of His power,
Hebrews 2:3 NKJV
how shall we escape if we neglect so great a salvation, which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed to us by those who heard [Him],
Revelation 20:15 NKJV
And anyone not found written in the Book of Life was cast into the lake of fire.
Acts 3:24 NKJV
“Yes, and all the prophets, from Samuel and those who follow, as many as have spoken, have also foretold these days.
Acts 3:25 NKJV
“You are sons of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying to Abraham, ‘And in your seed all the families of the earth shall be blessed.’
Acts 3:26 NKJV
“To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, sent Him to bless you, in turning away every one [of you] from your iniquities.”
God is a covenant keeping God and said all the families on earth will be blessed and the biggest blessing he could give was Jesus so the we could turn from our iniquities.

Acts 2:14 NKJV
But Peter, standing up with the eleven, raised his voice and said to them, “Men of Judea and all who dwell in Jerusalem, let this be known to you, and heed my words.
He has the backing of the other disciples.
He is standing and raised his voice. Like, listen up!
A posture and position of authority.
Acts 2:15 NKJV
“For these are not drunk, as you suppose, since it is [only] the third hour of the day.
They are not drunk; it’s 9 am
There is no scripture about being drunk in the Spirit.
Ephesians 5:18 KJV
And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
Acts 2:16 NKJV
“But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
Peter starts his witness with the Word.
Whenever we witness, let the Word do the teaching.
Scripture has the power and authority to lead someone to the truth of Christ.
2 Timothy 3:16 KJV
All scripture [is] given by inspiration of God, and [is] profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:
Acts 2:17 NKJV
‘And it shall come to pass in the last days, says God, That I will pour out of My Spirit on all flesh; Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, Your young men shall see visions, Your old men shall dream dreams.
In the last days, there will be a pouring out of the Holy Spirit on all flesh
There will be prophecy, visions, and dreams about the young and the old.
Acts 2:18 NKJV
And on My menservants and on My maidservants I will pour out My Spirit in those days; And they shall prophesy.
God repeats that He will pour out His Spirit, and people will prophesy.
There were no gender boundaries. Both men and women.
Acts 2:19 NKJV
I will show wonders in heaven above And signs in the earth beneath: Blood and fire and vapor of smoke.
Acts 2:20 NKJV
The sun shall be turned into darkness, And the moon into blood, Before the coming of the great and awesome day of the LORD.
These signs and wonders can only be done by the hand of God.
Acts 2:21 NKJV
And it shall come to pass [That] whoever calls on the name of the LORD Shall be saved.’
Whoever-the universal call that anyone can be saved.
There is salvation in the name of Jesus.
Acts 4:12 KJV
Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.
Romans 10:13 KJV
For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
Isaiah 45:22 KJV
Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth: for I [am] God, and [there is] none else.
Acts 2:22 NKJV
“Men of Israel, hear these words: Jesus of Nazareth, a Man attested by God to you by miracles, wonders, and signs which God did through Him in your midst, as you yourselves also know--
God gave Jesus the ability to perform all the miracle signs and wonders in front of them. They knew who He was.
Acts 2:23 NKJV
“Him, being delivered by the determined purpose and foreknowledge of God, you have taken by lawless hands, have crucified, and put to death;
God foreknew his plan and purpose. He used the hands of the wicked to have Jesus slain for our sins
For the Scriptures say that God told Pharaoh, “I have appointed you for the very purpose of displaying my power in you and to spread my fame throughout the earth.”Romans 9:17 NLT
Resurrection
Acts 2:24 NKJV
“whom God raised up, having loosed the pains of death, because it was not possible that He should be held by it.
God raised Jesus, loosed all the pains of death
Jesus can’t be held by death.
How can something bind you when you have the keys to it?
Revelation 1:18 NKJV“I [am] He who lives, and was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore. Amen. And I have the keys of Hades and of Death.
Death, come not hold him!
Isaiah foretold :
Isaiah 25:8 NKJVHe will swallow up death forever, And the Lord GOD will wipe away tears from all faces; The rebuke of His people He will take away from all the earth; For the LORD has spoken.
Acts 2:25 NKJV
“For David says concerning Him: ‘I foresaw the LORD always before my face, For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
David foresaw the Lord, and he knew Jesus was at the right hand of God and unshakeable
Acts 2:26 NKJV
Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad; Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
Because he knew this truth. He could rejoice, praise, and have hope.
Acts 2:27 NKJV
For You will not leave my soul in Hades, Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
David is saying that Jesus was not going to be left in Hell or his body to be decayed.
Acts 2:28 NKJV
You have made known to me the ways of life; You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’
And because of this truth... we should be like David in the fullness of Joy because the grave couldn’t hold him. O death, where is your sting?
Acts 2:29 NKJV
“Men [and] brethren, let [me] speak freely to you of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his tomb is with us to this day.
In other words, David was not talking about himself. He was referring to the coming Messiah.
Acts 2:30 NKJV
“Therefore, being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that of the fruit of his body, according to the flesh, He would raise up the Christ to sit on his throne,
David knew that his fruit..his bloodline in the flesh. The Messiah was coming from the house of David according to the Word of the Lord.
Acts 2:31 NKJV
“he, foreseeing this, spoke concerning the resurrection of the Christ, that His soul was not left in Hades, nor did His flesh see corruption.
What David foresaw concerning the resurrection was fulfilled. His soul was not left in Hades and he did see corruption but was resurrected.
Acts 2:32 NKJV
“This Jesus God has raised up, of which we are all witnesses.
Peter reminds them they all saw the resurrected Jesus.
Acts 2:33 NKJV
“Therefore being exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He poured out this which you now see and hear.
Now He is at the right hand of God. We have received the promise of the Father. Jesus poured out. Peter directs them to the senses of what they had not only seen just happen and hear the sounds.
Acts 2:34 NKJV
“For David did not ascend into the heavens, but he says himself: ‘The LORD said to my Lord, “Sit at My right hand,
Acts 2:35 NKJV
Till I make Your enemies Your footstool.” ‘
Acts 2:36 NKJV
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly that God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Christ.”
Basically Y’all did this?
Response
Acts 2:37 NKJV
Now when they heard [this], they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles, “Men [and] brethren, what shall we do?”
The heart has to be the first thing that is cut to respond.
They had a teachable spirit and were receptive.
They had the experience of the Holy Spirit pouring, and now they were having the experience of the Holy Spirit cutting and doing the conviction.
Hebrews 4:12For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it pierces even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow. It judges the thoughts and intentions of the heart.
John 16:8 NKJV
“And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment:
They wanted to respond: What do we do now? They did not ignore the invitation.
Hebrews 3:15 NKJV
while it is said: “Today, if you will hear His voice, Do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion.”
Repentance
Acts 2:38 NKJV
Then Peter said to them, “Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Peter gives the guidelines for salvation:
* Repent. Turn away from your sin to your Savior
* Be baptized in the name of Jesus, no other name
* For remission of sin.
For God presented Jesus as the sacrifice for sin. People are made right with God when they believe that Jesus sacrificed his life, shedding his blood. This sacrifice shows that God was being fair when he held back and did not punish those who sinned in times past. Romans 3:25 NLT
* Receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Acts 2:39 NKJV
“For the promise is to you and to your children, and to all who are afar off, as many as the Lord our God will call.”
Universal call again, ALLLL!!!
God’s will call. The ticket has been paid; you just have to pick it up!
Acts 2:40 NKJV
And with many other words he testified and exhorted them, saying, “Be saved from this perverse generation.”
Peter said more things that we don’t have documented. Summed up Be saved from this perverse generation.
Revival
Acts 2:41 NKJV
Then those who gladly received his word were baptized; and that day about three thousand souls were added [to them].
Those who gladly received…responded, and there was revival.
120 is multiplied to 3,120: God’s math
Recipe
Acts 2:42 NKJV
And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.
They continued the work steadfastly; they didn’t let anything move them. Preserved, immovable.
They had the recipe for the church:
* right doctrine
* fellowship
* food
* prayer
Acts 2:43 NKJV
Then fear came upon every soul, and many wonders and signs were done through the apostles.
Respect from everyone set the foundation for the signs and wonders to be done and received; they have influence now because of how they carry themselves
Acts 2:44 NKJV
Now all who believed were together, and had all things in common,
It’s important to have all things in common and be in a spirit of agreement
2 Corinthians 6:14 NKJV
Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?
Amos 3:3 NKJV
Can two walk together, unless they are agreed?
Acts 2:45 NKJV
and sold their possessions and goods, and divided them among all, as anyone had need.
Acts 2:46 NKJV
So continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart,
Acts 2:47 NKJV
praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.

Acts 2:5 NKJV
And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven.
Those were living there at this time or visiting
They were in town for Pentecost already in position at the right time right place
Devout men - men who truly about have a heart towards God
Can it be said of you….She is a devout woman of God?
Acts 2:6 NKJV
And when this sound occurred, the multitude came together, and were confused, because everyone heard them speak in his own language.
The sound draws them.
The sound of the wind or the sound of all that languages from the 120 people speaking in a supernatural tongue.
Can you imagine how loud and confusing that would have sounded?
God draws his own audience.
Acts 2:7 NKJV
Then they were all amazed and marveled, saying to one another, “Look, are not all these who speak Galileans?
Galileans couldn’t speak well in their own language.
And now somehow, they are speaking fluently in languages they have not learned and in languages of the people surrounding them.
Acts 2:8 NKJV
“And how [is it that] we hear, each in our own language in which we were born?
The people cannot understand how it is possible for them to be speaking in a language?
God will reach his people by any means necessary and break all barriers.
God allowed is people by his Holy Spirit to get the attention of the locals and the visitors to expand his kingdom immediately
The disciples were told to go, and now the people have come and are hearing in their own language.
Heard-The heard because they was listening
“He that have ears let him hear”
Acts 2:9 NKJV
“Parthians and Medes and Elamites, those dwelling in Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
Acts 2:10 NKJV
“Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya adjoining Cyrene, visitors from Rome, both Jews and proselytes,
We see only 15 Places of origin mentioned, but they were 120 people said to be in the upper room.
Those 15 backgrounds heard what they needed to hear to get the mission field started.
Acts 2:11 NKJV
“Cretans and Arabs--we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.”
They were speaking about the wonderful works of God.
Reversal of the curse of Tower of babel Genesis 11.
God confused the language of the people and now God is releasing multiple languages out at the same time.
The people were not preaching or teaching in tongues or having a conversation with each other.
They were speaking the wonderful works of God
They were talking to God.
1 Corinthians 14:2 NKJV
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands [him]; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
When it was time to preach Peter spoke in Greek which we will cover tomorrow.
Acts 2:12 NKJV
So they were all amazed and perplexed, saying to one another, “Whatever could this mean?”
When we are studying and don’t understand the text. Ask the Holy Spirit what could this mean?
Seeking answers to the questions and experiences we don’t understand.
This is the repeated phrae. Marvel and amazed. What is going on?
The Galileans talking like us, the sound of wind, 120 speaking at the same time.
There was a lot to unpack.
They were walking into a revival and didn’t know it.
Acts 2:13 NKJV
Others mocking said, “They are full of new wine.”
With anything when someone lacks knowledge and understanding, they will mock it.
Paul says in 1 Corinthians the uniformed or unbelievers will say you are out of your mind when they don’t have the understanding and revelation of tongues.
1 Corinthians 14:23 AMP
So then, if the whole church gathers together and all of you speak in [unknown] tongues, and outsiders or those who are not gifted [in spiritual matters] or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are out of your mind?
In my testimony, I was told I was I filled with emotionalism and confusion, that was I was doing was not in scripture and unbiblical. I was told I not in line with Southern Baptist. I was humiliated and crushed for something God gave me.
I found myself repenting for quenching the holy spirit because of what I was being told.
I was torn between what I experienced vs complying with man for the sake of staying in my familiar worship environment and being able to use my gifts.
I could no longer show up to a place of worship that made me feel that I was wrong or confused for a fire that God placed in me in my bathroom.
I could no longer downplay what was happening in my daily prayer life and smile and show up and pretend that the fire in my life didn’t exist.
Mark 7:7 AMP
‘THEY WORSHIP ME IN VAIN [their worship is meaningless and worthless, a pretense], TEACHING THE PRECEPTS OF MEN AS DOCTRINES [giving their traditions equal weight with the Scriptures].’
In the end:
I chose God and His infallible word
I chose God and His fire in me
I chose God and His sovereign plan that He would take me to a new place of worship
I chose God that my gift would make room for me to teach again.
And now I still have my fire.
I have a new church and my gift of teaching is still going forth.
I lost nothing but gained everything.
The freedom to not hold to the religious tradition of men.
The freedom to yield to his Spirit and let the Spirit give me utterance daily.
Thank you for coming to the table. I hope that you have been fed and encouraged by today’s message. It is my prayer that you have encountered the presence of God through His Word.

Today’s Reading: Acts 2:1-4
The Posture
Acts 2:1 NKJV: When the Day of Pentecost had fully come, they were all with one accord in one place.
Pentecost takes place 50 days after the resurrection.
10 days after he told them to wait for the promise of the Holy Spirit.
They were waiting as instructed.
They remained in agreement in one place.
They were not scattered. They were not divided on worldly matters.
According to Acts 1:15, there were about 120 people.
They were waiting with expectancy.
The Presence
Acts 2:2 NKJV: And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Suddenly -the Spirit came on suddenly, on God’s timetable.
Some translations say violent rushing wind, windstorm.
This was heard and felt throughout the whole house.
The wind filled the house.
There was a presence in the room, not a wind blowing by.
This was the wind of the Holy Spirit
The Glory of the Lord filled this place.
John 3:8 NKJV
“The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear the sound of it, but cannot tell where it comes from and where it goes. So is everyone who is born of the Spirit.”
This is the wind of Ezekiel’s dry bones.
Ezekiel 37:9 NKJV
Also He said to me, “Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, son of man, and say to the breath, ‘Thus says the Lord GOD: “Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe on these slain, that they may live.”
God was putting his wind into the church.
He was putting life into the beginning of the church.
The wind into the church’s lungs
We see they are sitting. This is the original church.
One accord, one place, dependent on the Spirit of God to move with expectancy.
The church has become a show of sounds, lights, and no spirit move.
No wind and no fire, no unity, just “Church”.
It’s not the buildings that are the problem. It’s the believers in the building that don’t realize they are the church before they get to church.
We are a bunch of little churches, temples coming together as one universal church.
The presence of God in the believer should fill your whole life.
How are these people living life however they want?
The Holy Spirit does not lie dormant while you do whatever you.
God is showing his tangible presence again, like the dove in Jesus ‘ baptism
We have the wind, and now we have the fire
Where else do we see the fire?
The Power
Acts 2:3 NKJV: Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and [one] sat upon each of them.
ALL 120 got fire!
cloven tongues- divided; cut in part
Everyone present got their part of fire.
Sat upon- again, that tangible presence.
appeared to them- they all saw with their own eyes
Acts 2:4 NKJV: And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.
The word utterance in this text is not the same Greek word used in Romans 8:26
Strong G669
* to speak out, speak forth, pronounce
* not a word of everyday speech but one “belonging to dignified and elevated discourse”
Romans 8:26 KJV
Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
This is not uttered in words. Only in the Bible, this one time, with this Strong’s
Strong G215
* not to be uttered, not expressed in words
It’s the Holy Spirit doing the filling and the speaking.
The Proof
Mark 16:15 NKJV
And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature.
Mark 16:16 NKJV
“He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Mark 16:17 NKJV
“And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues;
Mark 16:18 NKJV
“they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.”
Would it make any sense for the church age to be birthed with this level of power? And now that is no longer needed, according to certain denominations.
For this reason, I can no longer believe the traditions of religious thinking as it pertains to this topic, because I was baptized with this fire 7 months ago, on my face in my bathroom.
I was baking cookies and ending a 3-day fast. I felt led to go to the bathroom and pray. So I went to my upstairs bathroom and lay prostrate on the rug, and I began to call on Jesus by his names and attributes, and I had been wanting to know about tongues. I prayed James 1:5 because I lacked wisdom about this topic and asked to be baptized in his Holy Spirit.
The prior month, on 1/10, I was asked Do I believe in tongues? I answered according to what my denomination and church believed. But five days later, the Lord led me to Joel 2, and at that time it wasn’t clicking. On 2/3/26 around 5:30 ish. The Lord answered my prayer about tongues by allowing me to speak it.
My experience was so powerful. I felt the fire. My clothing was soaked with sweat. Because I had been told that this had ceased. I was wrestling with my answer. I was crying hysterically, and I screamed bc it scared me at first.
I still didn’t know if this was a one-time experience until I woke up and the tongues continued while I was cooking pancakes.
I finally yielded and let God have his way. The beginning days were filled with so many tears and overwhelming presence and lots of wet clothing… literally fire
The other thing, when I ask for interpretation about something I am saying. Sometimes He will give. I get prophetic dreams. Things have shifted. And with that, warfare has increased.
For example, I was praying in the shower in tongues, and I heard one word: Freedom. I got in my car, and Freedom was playing on the radio. I was on my way to a new church that he was leading me to, and there was a billboard with one word: Freedom. I walked into the new church, and they were singing, “ Thank God I am free.
I’m not here to convince anyone, but we can’t keep telling people that this baptism does not exist anymore.
I thank God for giving me this power and redeeming me from a religious doctrine that doesn’t line up with his word.
A doctrine that takes one scripture out of context.
1 Corinthians 13:8-12 NKJV
Love never fails. But whether [there are] prophecies, they will fail; whether [there are] tongues, they will cease; whether [there is] knowledge, it will vanish away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part. But when that which is perfect has come, then that which is in part will be done away. When I was a child, I spoke as a child, I understood as a child, I thought as a child; but when I became a man, I put away childish things. For now we see in a mirror, dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part, but then I shall know just as I also am known.
This is the text that is used by both “cessistat”
This is the Love Chapter.
How is it that only this snippet of scripture is the basis of cessist theology?
How can that which is perfect come to be the Word?
Wouldn’t the only perfect one to come be Jesus?
Face to Face, would that have to be a person with a face?
If this had ceased, why would Paul then continue to write a whole other chapter in 14 about tongues?
1 Corinthians 14:2 NKJV
For he who speaks in a tongue does not speak to men but to God, for no one understands [him]; however, in the spirit he speaks mysteries.
1 Corinthians 14:4 NKJV
He who speaks in a tongue edifies himself, but he who prophesies edifies the church.
1 Corinthians 14:5 NKJV
I wish you all spoke with tongues, but even more that you prophesied; for he who prophesies [is] greater than he who speaks with tongues, unless indeed he interprets, that the church may receive edification.
1 Corinthians 14:14 NKJV
For if I pray in a tongue, my spirit prays, but my understanding is unfruitful.
1 Corinthians 14:15 NKJV
What is [the conclusion] then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding.
1 Corinthians 14:18 NKJV
I thank my God I speak with tongues more than you all;
1 Corinthians 14:21 NKJV
In the law it is written: “With [men of] other tongues and other lips I will speak to this people; And yet, for all that, they will not hear Me,” says the Lord.
I had to study this in depth after receiving the baptism because of the faulty teaching of men.
I am thankful for the teacher of the Holy Spirit for opening my eyes and enlightening my understanding.
Tongues obviously have not ceased. I am living proof. I didn’t go to any crusade or go to get someone to lay hands on me. I asked the Father if this was true and real. And what better answer than to show me himself on my bathroom floor.
Even how it has changed the trajectory of my prayer life and my children witnessing this power in our home.

Todd was a Southern Baptist preacher who mocked tongues until He experienced it. Powerful for those of us who were taught in the Southern Baptist Background.

Today’s Reading: Acts 1:9-26
UP, UP, AWAY!
Verse 9 Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight.
The Shekinah glory, like in the Old Testament when God would be represented by the cloud
Verse 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel,
Verse 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This [same] Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.”
The disciples are watching Jesus be received up into heaven. They look steadfastly, and the angels appear and ask, “Why are you standing there looking like that?”
They tell us something very important:
The same manner you saw Him go up is the same way He is to return.
So as they saw Him going up, He will come down.
Where is your focus? Are you busy looking up or looking out?
It’s easy to be like the Thessalonians who basically wanted to just stop doing everything and wait for Jesus to return.
We needed Jesus to go UP so that the Helper could come down.
John 16:7 NKJV
“Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.
The Holy Spirit helps us endure the wait for Jesus ‘ return.
UP WHERE?
Mar 16:19 NKJV - 19 So then, after the Lord had spoken to them, He was received up into heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God.
Luk 24:50-53 NKJV - 50 And He led them out as far as Bethany, and He lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 Now it came to pass, while He blessed them, that He was parted from them and carried up into heaven. 52And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy, 53 and were continually in the temple praising and[fn] blessing God. Amen.
Jesus seated down at the right hand of God in Heaven.
God is in the driver’s seat, and Jesus is in the passenger seat, ready to jump out and get us!
Verse 12: Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey.
About 3/4 mile
They obeyed His instruction from yesterday’s reading. “Do not leave Jerusalem”
PRAYED UP
Verse 13: And when they had entered, they went up into the upper room where they were staying: Peter, James, John, and Andrew; Philip and Thomas; Bartholomew and Matthew; James [the son] of Alphaeus and Simon the Zealot; and Judas [the son] of James.
They are in the upper room
They are staying there. The AMP says indefinitely
Verse 14: These all continued with one accord in prayer and supplication, with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.
What are they doing?
* Spending time in one accord, in the spirit of unity.
* In prayer
* Supplication
Who is all there?
It’s the disciples, women (possibly the disciples’ wives), Mary, Jesus ‘ mother, and Jesus’ brothers.
Verse 15: And in those days Peter stood up in the midst of the disciples (altogether the number of names was about a hundred and twenty), and said,
Peter the Leader. Throughout Scripture, you see Peter being this stand-up guy. He desired to fulfill the will of God.
Verse 16: “Men [and] brethren, this Scripture had to be fulfilled, which the Holy Spirit spoke before by the mouth of David concerning Judas, who became a guide to those who arrested Jesus;
Scripture was the basis of making the decision then
and should be for us now.
He goes on to say that the manner in which Judas died fulfilled Scripture, and that shows us that God’s plan is always sovereign. Judas needed to be at the table so that we could have our Risen Savior
Verse 17: “for he was numbered with us and obtained a part in this ministry.”
People can be in ministry for the wrong reasons.
Judas was part of the ministry, but his motives represented darkness. There are many wolves in sheep’s clothing today.
Verse 18: (Now this man purchased a field with the wages of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst open in the middle and all his entrails gushed out.
Verse 19: And it became known to all those dwelling in Jerusalem; so that field is called in their own language, Akel Dama, that is, Field of Blood.)
Verse 20: “For it is written in the Book of Psalms: ‘Let his dwelling place be desolate, and let no one live in it’; and, ‘Let another take his office.’
God will always put someone in office to accomplish his purposes.
Verse 21: “Therefore, of these men who have accompanied us all the time that the Lord Jesus went in and out among us,
Verse 22: “beginning from the baptism of John to that day when He was taken up from us, one of these must become a witness with us of His resurrection.”
The person needed to understand the risen Jesus and had witnessed him. To testify, he would have had to experience Jesus for himself.
Verse 23: And they proposed two: Joseph called Barsabas, who was surnamed Justus, and Matthias.
Verse 24: And they prayed and said, “You, O Lord, who know the hearts of all, show which of these two You have chosen
Verse 25: “to take part in this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.”
Although they had two choices. They didn’t just choose. They sought the Lord on the matter. Even Jesus sought the Father before deciding on the disciples.
Luke 6:12-13 KJV And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God. And when it was day, he called [unto him] his disciples: and of them he chose twelve, whom also he named apostles;
Verse 26: And they cast their lots, and the lot fell on Matthias. And he was numbered with the eleven apostles.
Proverbs 16:33 NKJV The lot is cast into the lap, But its every decision [is] from the LORD.
Thank you for coming to the table. I hope that you have been fed and encouraged by today’s message. It is my prayer that you have encountered the presence of God through His Word.
I would love to connect with you. Let’s digest today’s message in the comments to help encourage each other.

Every fire needs wood and ignition source to start and continue the flames.
Fire produce warmth and heat.
Fire is known to purify.
When the flames of fire began to die down, you have two choices: put another log in or to let the fire burn out.
The same is true for your walk with Christ. You have to choose to stay hot or you can choose to remain lukewarm.
Christ has something to say about lukewarmness.
‘So because you are lukewarm (spiritually useless), and neither hot nor cold, I will vomit you out of My mouth [rejecting you with disgust]. - Revelation 3:16 AMP
Safe to say that being lukewarm is disgusting to our Savior..if he wants to vomit.
No one would choose lukewarm food or drink. So why choose to stay in that temperature spiritually?
I have this revelation the other day. September means Sept(Seven) ember (fragment from the fire)
Seven means completion in the Word.
Let this be the month you receive the complete fire of God to help save the lost and dying world.
If we all put a log in the fire, then the church will burn again with the presence of the Holy Spirit, and illuminate the light of Christ.
“You are the light of [Christ to] the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden; - Matthew 5:14 AMP
