Yesterday west-northwest wind was 15-25 mph with gusts of 40-50 mph. This morning wind decreased to 5-15 mph and temperatures are single digits to low teens F. Today temperatures will reach mid-teens to low 20s F under mostly sunny skies. Wind will be north-northwest at 5-15 mph and increase to 15-25 mph this afternoon. February 07, 2020GNFAC Avalanche Forecast for Fri Feb 7, 2020Our largest storm of the year continues. At 6 a.m., 24-hour snowfall totals are 10-14” near Bozeman and West Yellowstone, with 14-24” near Big Sky, and 4” in Cooke City. The bulk of that snow fell yesterday during the day and it is snowing again this morning. Winds are 10-20 mph out of the west with gusts of 40 mph. Temperatures are in the teens to low 20s. Snowfall will continue today with a brief break this evening before another pulse hits overnight. February 06, 2020GNFAC Avalanche Forecast for Thu Feb 6, 2020We are in the midst of a nice winter storm. At 6 a.m., the 24-hour snowfall is 10-15” from West Yellowstone to the Bridger Range, and 6” in Cooke City. Most of it fell last night. Wind has picked up and is blowing strong out of the W-NW at 20 mph with gusts of 40 mph. Snow will continue into Friday afternoon. Ridgetop wind is blowing westerly at 15-20 mph with gusts of 30-40 mph. Mountain temperatures this morning range from a few degrees below zero to single digits. Overnight, wind shifted east-northeast at 5-15 mph with gusts of 20-30 mph. In the Bridger Range east wind is 15-25 mph with gusts to 50 mph. For the last 24 hours throughout the forecast area southwest winds averaged 15-50 mph with gusts of 50-80+ mph. This morning snow is starting to fall and there is 2-3” in the Bridger Range and zero to a trace elsewhere. Temperatures are high teens to low 30s F. Today temperatures will drop to teens to mid-20s F with wind shifting northwest-north at 5-25 mph. This morning temperatures are in the 20s and 30s F. Winds are 15-35 mph out of the southwest and west with gusts as high as 60 mph. Temperatures will be unseasonably warm today, rising into the 30s and even the high-40s F in spots. Winds will be southwesterly at 30-40 mph with strong gusts.
