After taking a winter break, we're back with a new season of the GNODCAST and who better to kick it off than longtime friend and Gnod member Mark Wagner.

We've known Mark since the early days and we have crossed paths with him multiple times over the years. Anyway, listen to this it's a good one...

Next up....

Cecilia de Fatima dos Santos is a multidisciplinary artist from Oporto City in Portugal. She is known mostly for her documentary photography and for her surrealist , chaotic performer alter ego, Mc Sissi. What to say about the infamous DJ Uraino & Mc Sissi performances that rocked Oporto for a few years prior to Covid shite?? absolute chaos, good vibes, slapstick, bangin tunes. It has to be seen to be be realised   / 210667226529221

   • Dj Urânio & Mc Sissi - Eurotika! Maus...

   • DJ Urânio e MC Sissi Extended Trailer

Her photography work can be seen via her social media pages

An her most recent exhibition documenting Portuguese emigrant culture can be visited in Oporto until November 4th 2024

Last year Mc Sissi & Gnod did a bunch of off the cuff recordings together which have been brought to life as the album INNER FUCKING PEACE , soon to be released on Rocket Recordings. Her impact upon the process of making the album can not be overstated. Her stream of conciousness vocals, menstrual blood painting for the front cover and album title alone are a work of art. Sissi is honest, up front and no bullshit as you will hear in this chat. Shes got a lot of stories to tell so there will definitely be a part 2. We thought it a good idea to put this up to coincide with the album so people can get to know a little of her story.

Next up, Slomo

Slomo are responsible for one of the most listened to pieces of music in my (paddy) collection. These 2 absolute gents bonded over a mutual love of antiquarianism and heavy music. They were also responsible for a lot of behind the scenes stuff at Julian Cope's Head Heritage site, which at its peak was the coolest spot on the Internet for people into heavy out there sounds and out door activity.

We chat to Slomo, ahead of a rare live appearance with Gnod at the Golden Lion in Todmorden on Sept 1st 2024, about their glacial work ethic, Stephen O'Malley and future plans.

We cannot recommend checking these guys out enough... start with The Creep which is a masterpiece ..

Rhys has been around the UK underground for a minute or two, we first met him in the mid 2000s and it's an understatement to say he had a big part to play in Gnod getting teamed up with Rocket and the making of the much beloved Dropout album.

You may know him from his work as Acidliner, Drumcunt or with The Notorious Hi-Fi Killers, Hey Colossus and most recently Thee Alcoholics.

He is partly responsible alongside long term collaborator and pal Tony Mountford, for one of the greatest Shit & Shine records to be released, via their now defunct label, Noisestar.

Next up on the Gnodcast is , Musician, Writer, Public Speaker and Grass roots Psychedelic Advocate .... Oli Genn-Bash.

Oli is a super smart sweet heart and we had a great if at times somewhat tricky conversation about Psychedelics.

Oli is a bad ass saxophinist, check his work with the excellent phuture-proto-prog........Codex Serafini

We chat to our good friend, forest goblin, fungi forager and absolute diamond geezer, Sven Kruppa.

Sven runs the label Svensk Psych Aften, a proper underground label with (purposely) very little online presence and has deep connections to the Danish scene and Swedish scenes recent groups, Hills, Goat, Centrum etc. Sven's ethos and approach is highly regarded here at Gnod HQ.

Hey yall

2024 will see us continue the Gnodcasts, will be trying a new format of talking to people we dig about their music and editing some music into the show. Theres many folks lined up, it takes a bit longer to edit etc but will be worth it .

First up for this is The inimitable, Aonghus Reidy from Galway in Ireland.

Aonghus has released loads of music on his own bandcamp under his own name and as Ocean Floor. His Ocean Floor material is absolutely one of my go to playlists when im at home reading or chilling. Hes a lovely lad to boot. Its all covered pretty well in this chat. Hes a man of few words and a bit of an enigma but we had a nice chat and got into his story a bit.

Introducing Manchester Legend .....Michael O' Neill. Gnod fans will know him from his amazing vocals on Bulletproof awareness, others will know him from The Sonar Yen ,the band that spawned a hundred others in Manchester.

Most recently he collaborated with parallel_action

and released an absolutely sick solo album on rwdfwd. We chat about all of it in the podcast.

Mike has always dissected & questioned belief systems, modern culture & superficial society structures in his lyrics. He's super smart and a sound head to boot. He seems happy enough to operate under the radar but we are glad as hell to know him and his work.

As always our Patreon subscribers get first listens and other exclusive content..

Come join for as little as £1 per month if yer skint

Mike is a legend in Manchester. Way ahead of his time. Inspired a lot of us and continues to do so. Without Mike there would be no Gnod. Representing North Manchester and Ireland, no better man for the job.
