Scriptures Reviewed: Acts 4:32-37; Ephesians 4:1-5, 24-28

Discipleship Points: There is one Body, one church and we are to maintain its unity. Early believers had all things in common; we can have s form of that today supplying the needs of others as we are able. Character matters are important: put on the new man, the new you; put away lying; put off anger but if angry, do not sin nor let it go past the day; put off stealing, work for a living but mainly work so we can give to others.

Scriptures Reviewed: Acts 4:19-31

Discipleship Points: Peter and John spoke to the rulers and then met with other brethren. Believers can learn from these discussions. A key point is that Peter and John spoke of what they had seen and heard. They saw Jesus, the miracles and more from His ministry. Believer's today can speak of what they have seen and heard from the Bible.

Scriptures Reviewed: Many from Acts 3 and 4, Romans 10:1-3 and Proverbs 19:2

Discipleship Points: As believers, we are to desire and gain knowledge but not via haste; zeal without knowledge is wrong so aim for a balance. RT reads Peter & John were not educated nor trained but he notes what they did: lame man healed, preached to townspeople and Jewish rulers, expounded on healing and the Gospel. Peter and John are examples! We, too, can be like them; let's seek God's wisdom, let's know our Bibles and let's pray to be bold.

Scriptures reviewed: Psalm 127:1-2 and portions of Acts 4 (verse 13, etc.)

Discipleship Points: Combating lies and legalism, including stay up late or get up early to read Bible; if you don't, maybe you will break fellowship with God, or your prayers will not get answered or, worse, you will lose your salvation. All are lies but can be used against us unless we know are identity.

RT has 5-6 degrees beyond college. However, he suggests young believers DO NOT go to Seminary. He recommends know your Bible well and to pray a lot.

Scriptures Reviewed: Col. 4:3-4; Matthew 13:18-23; Acts 18:24-28; Col. 4:5-6.

Discipleship Points: Paul wanted to clearly and accurately portray the Gospel; all believers should desire the same! When we/believers hear and understand the Word, then we can bear fruit. We need to study the Word to understand it. Aquila and Priscilla helped Apollos be a better teacher by helping him know the Word better; we can do that for others. Around unbelievers, we need to redeem the time, speak with grace, and have answers to their questions about the Bible and the Gospel.

Scriptures Reviewed: Col. 3:22 to 4:4

Discipleship Points: Work hard and care from our heart, reverencing & fearing God as we work; Masters/Bosses are to treat workers and servants justly & fairly, knowing they have a Master in heaven; Paul asked for prayer to preach the Gospel while in prison; let us all preach the Gospel like Paul did; when we pray, we are to be grateful for answers - and thank the Lord - and be vigilant when answers come as they make give us direction & wisdom.

Scriptures reviewed: Colossians 3:18-21, I Tim. 3:2

Discipleship Points: The Christian marriage model: husband is leader, husband loves wife, and wife submits as is fitting in the Lord. Children are to obey their parents, which pleases the Lord. Fathers must NOT provoke their children, lest they become discouraged. Two testimonies were shared, one from Dog the Bounty Hunter and one about the Manson family. The Bounty Hunter noted that every violent offender in jail had been beaten by their father. The fathers went beyond regular, healthy discipline.

Children are to obey their parents, which brings blessings. Fathers must NOT provoke their children, which can cause them to be discouraged.

Scriptures reviewed: I Cor. 11:31-34 (and portions of verses 27-30 from previous week)

Discipleship points: (1) The Holy Spirit does not cut off a believer, especially if a believer does not understand a scripture or principle. He works with believers. (2) Most believers do not know what many of the statements in verses 27-30 mean; the program addresses this point. (3) Multiple Bible verses say God heals us, delivers us from destructions, gives us strength and long life. Verse 30 says many are weak, sick, and die early; Verse 30 cannot refer to believers since they contradict dozens of other verses. (4) The conclusion is those who need to discern the Lord's body and refrain from Communion are unbelievers!

Scriptures reviewed: I Cor. 11:27-30

Discipleship Points: Various parts of these verses may cause concern to a believer, like unworthy manner, examine oneself, drinks judgement. The best understanding is these refer to an unsaved person taking communion. Believers are not made right with God by their performance. If we have a sin, we confess, He forgives and cleanses us from ALL unrighteousness (I John 1:9.) Our New Covenant/New Testament relationship shows the verses as well as others refer to unbelievers who are not possessors of salvation but only professors.

Testimony: Manny and Gary taped a program on a Wednesday about 1pm. At Bible study that night, Gary quoted verses from the program to a hurting believer.

Scriptures reviewed: I Cor. 11: 1-7 (summary) and 17-26.

Discipleship Points: Groups took the teaching on head coverings and made incorrect practices/doctrines. Factions/heresies may exist in churches, to lead the immature astray; Paul chastised the Corinthians for poor conduct re: Lord's Supper; Jesus gave His body and blood for us; His blood brought us near, cleanses us, redeems us, justified us and more. We are to avoid making the act of communion more important than remembering His death and sacrifice.
