Erling Haaland is a beast of a player. That has already been established. The 2020 Golden Boy just moved back to England where he was born and is having a good start to life at Manchester City where his father played some 20 years ago. Erling comes from a very athletic family, and that sort of explains why he seems to be built like a machine.
As you know, his father played professional football for Premier League teams including Manchester City and Leeds United. His mother, on the other hand, was a really successful track athlete in Norway. She was a national champion back in her day. So, it is not very surprising that a mixture of the genes from those two produced a sports machine.
As a child, Erling played golf, handball, tennis, did track and field, and of course, played football, which he eventually chose for his career path. When he was just 5 years old, he set a world record for standing long jump. He recorded a staggering distance of 1.63 meters which immediately became a world record for kids in that age category. Knowing all these things about Erling Haaland, would it be so shocking to find out that his cousins are just as good as him? Okay, maybe not just as good, those standards are so high, but good regardless.
So, when we said Haaland belongs in a very athletic family, we meant the extended family. His cousins from his mother’s side are also really good footballers in their own rights.
Erling Haaland kicked off life in the Premier League with a brace against West Ham on his debut. But oh come on. You already knew that, didn't you? So that's not news anymore, is it? Now here's something you probably didn't know. Haaland may be an expert at kicking balls, but that didn't stop him from getting kicked out of a club. Hehe, and no, it was not a football club. The type of club we're talking about was in fact, a nightclub. Yep, you heard right. Haaland may look like he was made in a lab, but he wasn't. He's fully human, so he knows how to have some fun too. And yes, he was once kicked out of a nightclub.
It is sort of an unspoken rule that anybody associated with Real Madrid must loathe Barcelona and vice versa. So we understand it might be a little shocking to you that Cristiano Ronaldo, one of the biggest Real Madrid legends, nearly signed for Barcelona not once but twice. To be fair, though, the first time happened way before he was even linked with Real Madrid. In fact, even before he first moved to Manchester United. So, the year was 2003, Ronaldo was still in Sporting CP and FC Barcelona’s president, Joan Laporta, had just resumed his first tenure as president. Immediately he was elected, he set in motion a reconstruction process and started making big signings, you know, sort of like he is doing now.
There are so many special things about the FIFA World Cup: the trophy, the fans, the coming together of different cultures, the national teams, the different styles, the pure love of the beautiful game, and one last thing many people seem to disregard most times; the match balls. Match balls are so special and have a huge influence on the game; if you ask football players, they’ll tell you. Perhaps the Jabulani ball used at the 2010 World Cup in South Africa is the most influential we have had in recent times. Also, the recent match balls - Brazuca and Al Rihla. And of course, we’ll talk about it at some point in this video. Let us dive right into 7 things you didn’t know about World Cup match balls.
Just blink and it’s like the Premier League never went on a break for Manchester United. After their result at the opening game of the new 2022-23 season, it means that United have now lost 2 of their last 4 Premier League games to mid-table Brighton with an aggregate scoreline of 6-1. That right there sums up Manchester United over the past few years. So, even after signing a new manager, releasing close to half of the squad, signing new players, and a pretty decent preseason run, it seems like absolutely nothing might have changed at Old Trafford. Man United may just be continuing on the same path that they were on last season. And that is surely not a good thing considering how very disastrous the 2021-22 season was for them. So, all these really beg the question; what the hell is going on at Manchester United? The truth is, the disaster we are seeing at Old Trafford right now did not just happen all of a sudden. It has been building up over the years and we are now getting to see the full repercussions of certain decisions that were made years ago.
You know that feeling when you get newly appointed into a role and you feel the urge to change things and do better than the person before you? Well, it turns out most coaches feel that way too. And Christophe Galtier is one of them. This summer, he was appointed as the new PSG coach. Now, it's not that the previous coach Pochettino was bad or anything - after all, they won the league. But with the amount of money the club spends, winning the league alone doesn't cut it. They demand European dominance, and Uhm, that's not something Pochettino seemed to be able to deliver. So in comes a new coach Galtier. And well, let's say he has no interest in getting fired like Pochettino. So he knows he has to get better results. And to get better results, he has to make a few changes at the club, including a few new signings.
FIFA 23 will be out in September, and we are already anticipating what will be the last FIFA football video game as we know it. Oh yes, the last. EA Sports and FIFA, the partners who have given us the legendary FIFA video game series over the last 3 decades, are finally splitting up, and FIFA 23 is their last offering to us.
Why are they splitting up? It’s simple, money. FIFA are asking for more money from EA. And not just more money, twice the amount they were originally getting, so it made EA begin to reevaluate their partnership with FIFA and that ultimately led to both parties going their separate ways.
If you want to know more about why FIFA and EA split and what it means for us gamers, then check out this video where we answer your every question.
Today, however, we are examining the last video game of an era and the improvements in FIFA 23 that will blow your mind. Here are 5 upgrades we will be seeing in FIFA 23 that could make the game a whole different experience.
Darwin Nunez is off to a good start at Liverpool. He came off the bench in the Community Shield game against Manchester City and helped his team to clinch the trophy by winning a penalty and scoring the last goal of the game. If he keeps producing that kind of performance, he could go on to be a huge addition to that Liverpool squad. But did you know that, many years ago, before he even moved to Europe, he very nearly quit football due to an injury he sustained on his knee?
