We’re all writers, crafting a lengthy narrative with the best chapters possible. But often, we create loopholes in our story of success ourselves. Do you know how? By letting our limiting beliefs hold us back from achieving what is within our grasp.
Limiting beliefs are misconstrued thoughts, with no foundation or reality. They stem from certain bad experiences from the past, hereditary experiences, or from societal and cultural restrictions. But the fact is that limiting beliefs hold us back. They don’t allow us the grand and successful ending your truly deserve.
If you are in a quest to overcome any limiting beliefs you might have, keep listening in. I’m here to tell you how self-talk is the key to overcoming them and finding your freedom.
Overcome Limiting Beliefs - Here’s How
Many of us consciously or unconsciously tend to develop limiting beliefs in childhood or teenage years. They may stem from a devastating personal experience or by seeing the experiences of others in our circle. Fact is that these become a permanent part of our personality by the time we have matured.
The unfortunate consequence of failing to overcome our limiting beliefs is that we fail to play big and shine like we could have. We let the limiting mindset pull us back from our calling, such as our business venture, for example.
When you shift from your limiting beliefs, you begin experiencing greater victories, start feeling happier, and more fulfilled. Let’s explore how you can shift from limiting beliefs to having an empowering mindset.
1. Pause to Think
Whenever you plan a new venture, a new break, or a new change and fears erupt, then pause and reflect on your fears. Remind yourself that you are simply in a low-mood and thinking about your upcoming activity is not the right thing to do at the moment.
2. Address each Limiting Belief
The best way to do this is to write down each limiting belief. For example, if you are planning to launch a vegan food line, some of the limiting beliefs you could have are:
• I might not be able to make the food taste good
• My vegan food will not appeal to the food lovers
• Meat eaters will not come to my business and my venture will fail
• I am too old to experiment with this new venture
Now while all these may be valid concerns, you cannot however, allow these to be your limiting beliefs. It is true that meat lovers can take time or have difficulty adjusting to an all plant-based diet. However, there is no way to ascertain beforehand hand that they will downright dislike it.
Therefore, don’t let doubts or fear of failure, or not pleasing the crowd stop you from trying. When fears arise from your limiting beliefs, replace them quickly with thoughts like the following:
• Consumers will love the idea of not hurting the animals.
• People will love a more healthy and nutritious food plan.
• Red meat can cause cholesterol and our vegan imagined meats will give them an equally tasty and healthy option.
• People will feel better from eating healthy food.
3. Have a Positive Self-Talk
You know, nothing helps you break out of limiting beliefs better than yourself, your own voice in your head. Use positive self-talk to transform your limiting beliefs into a powerful mindset. Empower your convictions with confidence in your abilities.
Let’s discuss this in more detail….
The Power of Self-Talk
Self-talk refers to the act of holding an internal dialogue. There can be no better way than this to influence your subconscious mind, to boost your ideas, your belief, and your confidence. Self-talk also helps you question, develop logical and powerful thoughts, and find the courage to push forward no matter what.
The problem with many people, including business owners, is that they often hold self-talk and they’re usually negative. This practice does more harm than good. The entire purpose behind self-talk is to define and strengthen your personality and mindset.
