This week on Goalie Hugs:
The Columbus Blue Jackets exist. The San Jose Sharks are going topless. Brad Marchand is the latest thief. Oh and we spent a surprising amount of time talking about goal scorers from just one game in the last week out of the many that occurred. Jeff Petry and Justin Faulk hit 1,000 games. Connor Bedard and Macklin Celebrini are trying to one-up each other. The Edmonton Oilers kind of suck again. Plus, we spent some time diving into goaltending stats leaders so far, whether the Minnesota Wild can do something cool and if Devin Cooley is the real deal or not, as well as a helpful dose of 2026 Winter Classic jersey takes.
It's November and you know what that means for the Buffalo Sabres. We also talk about the ethics of stealing, sweaters, Alex Ovechkin's actual total goal totals, Nazem Kadri at 1,000 games, what's up with the Tampa Bay Lightning, Marcus Johansson at 1,000 games and much more-- like the PWHL's Seattle Torrent and Vancouver Goldeneyes' branding, the 2025-26 Takeover Tour plans and where we'd like to see the next round of PWHL expansion.
Jake Wallinger joins the show to talk about the "CinnaBEC," Toronto's multi-sport curse, a look around the NHL, the future (and the now) of the Boston Bruins, Sidney Crosby, Alex Ovechkin, Jim Montgomery, Jack Eichel's Hart campaign and Pod on Lansdowne. He also suffered through "Off the Cuff" as the first victim of the game show segment's debut on Goalie Hugs. Meanwhile, our Jake's per 60 is rising with a 100% increase in guests named "Jake."
Court Lalonde joins the show to talk about all things Boston Bruins, Vegas Golden Knights, alternate jersey desires and more! 2026 Free Agency took another hit as Jack Eichel signed an extension in Vegas and Mattias Ekholm signed an extension in Edmonton. Lane Hutson got paid too in Montréal, then Kent Hughes and Jeff Gorton signed extensions in the front office as well.
Follow Bruins Diehards on YouTube.
Connor McDavid signed a two-year extension that'll keep him in an Edmonton Oilers uniform through the 2027-28 season, unless he wants out before then. Plus, Jackson LaCombe reset the market (kind of), the Boston Bruins are going to retire Zdeno Chára's No. 33 and the Battle of Florida got a little out of hand in their final preseason meeting. All that and more!
The Edmonton Oilers released a new alternate jersey and the Internet hates it! The Minnesota Wild and San José Sharks brought old looks back and the Internet loves it! Anze Kop11ar plans on retiring after this season, while the Florida Panthers are set to put the new LTIR rules to the test.
The Calgary Flames want to host the 2028 World Cup of Hockey and the PWHL eyes more expansion. Meanwhile, Kirill Kaprizov is going to be a lot richer and the Toronto Maple Leafs did something smart (kind of). Finally, the Goalie Hugs crew previews the Atlantic Division ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Alex Ovechkin has a new cereal and the Washington Capitals have a cool new alternate jersey. Not to be outdone, the Detroit Red Wings unveiled their centennial threads to commemorate their 100th season and we tried to guess what the New York Rangers have in mind for their centennial look. Also, Ivan Fedotov was traded, some RFAs are still unsigned– until Wyatt Kaiser signed his new deal between this recording and when this episode was actually released– and a bunch of players have PTOs.
Finally, the Goalie Hugs crew previews the Pacific Division ahead of the 2025-26 season.
Leftover thoughts from CBA talk last week mixed with a little fun future trivia answers. Remembering Ken Dryden and Rick Kuraly. Dustin Wolf has a new contract. Sidney Crosby and Kirill Kaprizov talk and the Goalie Hugs crew previews the Central Division ahead of the 2025-26 season.
After not getting around to doing any episodes this summer, the Goalie Hugs crew returns for the 2025-26 NHL season with a bunch of excuses. Also, the Ottawa Senators, Carolina Hurricanes and Seattle Kraken introduced new threads and we have several thoughts.
Come for the Metropolitan Division preview, stay for the Jack Edwardsian dictionary definitions, historical references and more!
