King David lived a life of devotion to God from a young age (remember Goliath and Saul?), but by no means did he live a perfect life. Parts of his life read like a TV soap opera. Psalm 51 allows us to listen in as David confesses his sin and broken heart to God. We also hear David’s solemn promise to turn back, by faith, to the God of second chances. When the prophet Nathan came to him after David had committed adultery with Bathsheba. Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions. Wash away all my iniquity and cleanse me from my sin.

We serve a God who is merciful and who allows His children many chances to learn His ways and be obedient to them. Jonah was a good man and a likely associate of the prophet Amos. he was not happy with this assignment and “fled from the presence of the Lord” (Jonah 1:10)Jonah quickly fled in the opposite direction from Nineveh, toward the seaport of Joppa, where he boarded a ship headed for what is probably present-day Spain. But the Lord gave Jonah a second chance.

God is not only the God of second chances; He is the God of another chance!

"The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance." 2 Peter 3:9

The Bible is full of people who received second chances, and even third and fourth chances: Peter, Jonah, Mark, Samson, David, and others. All trophies of God’s grace.

Why did Jesus ask Peter three times if he loved Him? Why was Peter grieved? How would you rate your relationship with Jesus? Is there anything you need to confess to Him? Confession is the healing answer to crippled walk. You don't have to live with a huge load of guilt and shame in your life. Christ is reaching out to you with open arms--go to Him in prayer. The Holy Spirit will help you also! Understand this: The Lord won't give up on you--even if it's the same sin you confessed yesterday. In Jesus, you'll find acceptance, love, and freedom--despite your shortcomings.

The crowd wanted to condemn the adulterous woman. The scribes and the Pharisees who accused her had already pronounced the sentence of death upon her.In the natural, her situation was hopeless. But with God, this woman got a 2nd chance. Did Jesus give this woman another chance so she could go out and repeat her mistakes and fall into sin again? No, he told her “Go and sin no more. Your future is not determined by your past. Your future is not determined by what you used to be. Your future is not determined by what you used to do, but your future and my future is determined by who Jesus Christ is and what he can and will do. Jesus Christ is the same today and yesterday. There is no secret, what God can do, what he’s done for others he’ll do for you

Abraham is blessed - He will have a great name (reputation) and that he would become a great nation (have many descendants).

"The Lord had said to Abram, ‘Go from your country, your people and your father’s household to the land I will show you I will make you into a great nation,and I will bless you;I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all peoples on earth will be blessed through you.’”Genesis 12:1–3

God called his people to bring the first yield—the first fruits—from their harvest to him as an offering.When you honor God with the firstfruits of all your income God promises to bless you to a place of overflow. Honoring God includes giving financially.

"Honor the Lord with your capital and sufficiency [from righteous labors] and with the firstfruits of all your income; So shall your storage places be filled with plenty, and your vats shall be overflowing with new wine." Proverbs 3:9-10

God wants to abundantly supply...

For you are becoming progressively acquainted with and recognizing more strongly and clearly the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ (His kindness, His gracious generosity, His undeserved favor and spiritual blessing), [in] that though He was [so very] rich, yet for your sakes He became [so very] poor, in order that by His poverty you might become enriched (abundantly supplied).” 2 Corinthians 8:9
