Greg Dempster of Christ Life Ministries teams up with Perry and Shawna to remind us that it’s God who does the heavy lifting for us. It’s on his shoulders, not ours to save us, to heal us, to change us. Christ Life helps leaders heal from life-long wounds so they can really live in the freedom that Christ has for us. (ChristLifeUsa.org). First a conversation about the condition for God doing a new thing in us. Here it is: In spite of ourselves and our failures, God will do the new thing. Healing, restoring, mending. Because that’s what God does!
Then because of the finished work of Jesus, because our sin debt is paid in full, God is committed to transforming us. He’s in our mess, cleaning us up! Next, stepping out of our messes, and sins and junk happens when we look away from ourselves and look to the beauty of Jesus, who he is, what he’s done for us. Surrendering to him to set us free. Then we talk about how God gifts us our identity. In the story of Gideon from Judges, he was cowering and fearful in the face of his enemies, but God in grace called him, “Mighty Warrior.” And that’s who he became.
