In Matthew 14, we see several characters that can be categorized by the following traits: Integrity, Friendship, People-Pleasing, Selfishness, Used & Abused. John showed great integrity, but he was ultimately killed because of it. John's disciples showed great friendship by honoring him by retrieving his beheaded body for a proper burial. Herodias portrayed Selfishness to the point of putting her daughter in a position to be Used and Abused. Herod's decisions was dictated by the people. But there is hope. This message all points to Jesus.
