The Apostle Paul writes in 1 Corinthians 6
You say, “I am allowed to do anything”—but not everything is good for you. And even though “I am allowed to do anything,” I must not become a slave to anything. You say, “Food was made for the stomach, and the stomach for food.” But you can’t say that our bodies were made for sexual immorality. They were made for the Lord, and the Lord cares about our bodies.
There’s an evil attitude that permeates our culture today. It takes on various forms but goes something like this - “it’s my body, it’s my life, and I can do with it anything that I want.”
This statement is true if you have not accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. However, if you have - if you call yourself a Christian, then scripture is clear about whose body you are using and whose life you are living.
1 Corinthians 6:20—“For God bought you with a high price. So you must honor God with your body.”
Jeremiah 10:23—“I know, Lord, that our lives are not our own. We are not able to plan our own course.”
So when it comes to planning our life (aka - plotting and scheming to get our way), we are to be reminded that the Lord cares much more about your life and your body than you ever could. That’s why we’re talking about the importance of waiting to have sex until the honeymoon night today with author and pastor Deon Thomas from The King’s Sanctuary in Kingston, Jamaica.
He has a new devotional workbook titled, “21 Days to Sexual Purity: A Biblical Devotional For Overcoming Sexual Temptations”. He has a great story of being married in his early thirties as a virgin and the blessings that have brought to his life.
On today’s episode of God, Sex and You, we’ll discuss:
1) The benefits of waiting to have sex until your married.
2) How one godly person can change your life forever.
3) The importance of reading the Bible from cover to cover, over and over.
