For the month of December I’m going to do something that I’ve never done before, and that is to ask you for help.

I believe that God has a lot more to say about sexuality. Hollywood and our government surely have something to say about it. So if that’s the case, we must ask ourselves, as Christians...what does God say about sexuality and gender?

During this Thanksgiving weekend we want to discuss a Biblical theology of joy. There seems to be a disconnect between the world’s definition of being thankful or joyful and a Biblical definition of thankfulness and joyfulness. For a lot of us it’s really easy to let the world’s definition slip on in and start corrupting our thinking.

In this show we discuss the following:

Is being thankful or joyful built around circumstances? What about events in our life?

Joy is a gift from God.

Joy is granted to those who believe in the Gospel.

Joy is produced by the Holy Spirit.

The believer’s joy is experienced most fully as we receive and obey God’s Word.

The believer’s joy is deepened through trials.

The Believer’s joy is made complete when they set their hope on the glory of heaven.

Lastly, no one can be joyful when their trying to manage habitual sin on your own.

Our country is changing so fast and our laws are also changing due to the new morals that have developed over the past several decades especially when it comes to sexuality.

What am I talking about? Your beliefs as a Bible Believing Christian are being challenged. Your beliefs are being squashed and silenced because of the new moral code in our country. And that new moral code is not coming from an all powerful everlasting and eternal God, but rather from an organization like the LGBT and its supporters. The LGBT is the lesbian gay bisexual and transgender community.

The topic of homosexuality is such a firestorm of discussion that we could do a whole show on this, but let me make a clarification here. There is a huge difference between 1) a radical organization like the LGBT 2) people who are gay, and 3) people who struggle with same sex attraction.

Now, I am not lumping every single person who says their gay into the LGBT. That’s ridiculous, and as church leaders we need to do a better job of recognizing that. People who say they’re gay are as different as any other community. Lumping all gay people together would be like lumping all Christians into the same Church. I mean can you imagine?! Do you want to be known as members of the Westboro Baptist church? I think not.

Today we are talking about the radical side of the gay agenda. And I wanted to do a follow up to my interview last week with Darren Doane and his new film “The Free Speech Apocalypse”. I wanted to speak to one of the unexpected stars in the film. His name is Doug Wilson, he is a pastor and author. And I wanted to get his perspective to what happened on April 13 2012 on the Indiana University campus when he tried to give a lecture on the traditional views of marriage and the family.

The First Amendment of the United States Constitution states that:

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

That means that The First Amendment forbids Congress from both promoting one religion over others and also restricting a person’s religious practices. It guarantees freedom of expression by prohibiting Congress from restricting the press or the rights of people to speak freely.

Today we are discussing one of the most pressing issues in the life of Church and culture today. And that is your free speech. Your constitutional and God given right to believe that:

God is the creator of the Universe, the right to believe that that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of the world, the right to believe that The Holy Spirit lives inside of you and changes you to look and behave more like Jesus Christ over time, the right to believe that there is ultimate truth that comes from the Ultimate Lawgiver (God) and the right to believe that there is this thing called “sin” and that sin has separated all of mankind from God.

Our culture doesn’t like to talk about sin. In fact, sin is barely even acknowledged anymore. But even though the world, even though the government, and even though your neighbors may scoff and laugh at your beliefs as a Bible Believing Christian, does that give them the right to silence you?

The LGBT thinks it does. We have this movement in America called the “Homosexual Agenda” and it has a few beliefs of it’s own. Make no doubt about it, The homosexual agenda is very powerful. They have lots of money and lots of attorneys.

In fact, they are so powerful the Supreme Court of the United States of America stepped outside the Constitution to legalize same sex marriages back in June of this year. So what does that mean for you and your beliefs as a Christian?

Well, filmmaker Darren Doane knows what it means. He is the director of the ground-breaking documentary titled 
“Collision” along with the box-office smash-hit “Unstoppable” with Kirk Cameron. Darren returns with his most bold, uncensored, and provocative film to date and it is titled “The Free Speech Apocalypse”.

“The Free Speech Apocalypse” exposes the strategies of the anti-God, anti-traditional, hyper-liberal elite and offers perspective on the decay or our culture when it comes to homosexuality.

Josh McDowell is on a mission to do something about the pornography epidemic within our churches. He says that pornography is the greatest threat to the cause of Christ in the history of the world. Pastor Chuck Swindoll states that pornography is the greatest cancer in the church.

When it comes to moral law, nothing has changed since the time Moses gave the law to the Israelites. In our knowledge and technology addicted culture however, we tend to think a lot has changed. But morality never changes because God never changes.

Temptation and trials are a part of our journey in dealing with God's standard of morality. A lot of us tend to think that being tempted is sin, and that is simply not true. If temptation were sin, then Jesus would be guilty of sin. We learn from our Lord how to deal with temptations in Matthew Chapter 4.

We often confuse Satan’s temptations and God’s testing as the same thing. They are not, and for the church to live a victorious Christ centered life we must understand the difference. Satan’s temptations are used to arouse, encourage and incite us to sin. God’s testing on the other hand is to prove His righteousness in our lives. This is explained in James Chapter 1.

In part two of this show, Aubrey asks why God hasn't given her a husband yet.

The Lord’s command in Deuteronomy 7 is to destroy.  He tells the Israelites that they must destroy seven nations – all of which are bigger and badder than than they are!  However, they must completely destroy them.  They must not show any mercy.

Wow!…Why do you think that the Lord would command such complete and utter destruction?  There’s no need to guess because He tells us in Deuteronomy 7:4  – for they will lead your children away from Me to worship other gods. Then the anger of the LORD will burn against you, and He will quickly destroy you.

Destruction is going to happen regardless.  It’s either the pagan nations or the Israelites, but God chose the Israelites and because He is faithful and a Loving Father, He is protecting them from themselves.  He is protecting the purity of His worship.  Unbelievable isn’t it?

We (just like the Israelites) have allowed our sinful sexual desires to lead us astray from the true worship of our Lord. We have selfishly decided to create an idol out of  the created instead of worshiping the Creator.

Romans 1:24-25 – God gave them up in the lusts of their hearts to impurity, to the dishonoring of their bodies among themselves, because they exchanged the truth about God for a lie and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, who is blessed forever! Amen.

The United States of America has officially exchanged the truth about God for a lie. We have a Supreme Court that continues to act like “supreme beings” in legalizing sin. In 1972 it was murder and in 2015 its sexual sin. They have said God is wrong and they are right. Soon, very very soon….our religious freedom will be at stake, and lot’s not forget the consequences that our nation will bear as a result of these decisions.

We as the Church must repent and seek the Lord’s face.  2 Chronicles 7:14 reads – if my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sins and restore their land.

In part two of this weeks radio show, Gary from Phoenix asks, “Can you help me understand why I’m so angry?  I’m 44 years old, committed my life to Jesus when I was 22.  I’m a closet homosexual.  I want to embrace my homosexuality and let my friends and family know that I’m a gay Christian.  But I just can’t do it. I carry this intense anger around with me.  The more I think about telling people the angrier I get.  What is going on?”

In Deuteronomy Chapter 6 Moses is calling the Israelite's to make a wholehearted commitment to the Lord. A call for obedience to the Living God...a call to love the Lord with all of your heart. Obedience also requires patience...something most of us need a serious dose of, right?

On your purity journey towards the Promised Land, how often are you doubting that the Lord is with you? Why? Is it because you have become impatient...impatient that He hasn’t taken away your struggle with sexual sin?

We've all seen the two year old child kicking and screaming in the grocery store check out line because his parents won't allow him to have another piece of candy. Children have no sense of time or patience, so their parents must teach them.

Just as our earthly parents teach us patience with earthly things, our Heavenly Father teaches us patience with eternal things. Is it possible that the Lord won't take away your struggle because He knows that it's the struggle that will bring you closer to Him? Is it possible that your sexual temptation's are the thorn in your flesh to trust and rely on His strength...not yours?

In part two of today's show we an answer an email asking what it looks like to deny yourself.

Have you ever wondered how God could be a "jealous God"? (Deuteronomy 4:24) Once we meditate on this question, then we can move forward with asking two more: 1) How is God jealous over your moral purity? 2) How are you jealous for God?

I'm reminded of Luke 13:34 - ”O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the city that kills the prophets and stones God's messengers! How often I have wanted to gather your children together as a hen protects her chicks beneath her wings, but you wouldn't let me. Luke 19:41 also reads, But as he came closer to Jerusalem and saw the city ahead, Jesus began to weep.

Godly jealousy is Godly protection. Your focus is completely on the other person. It's like this feeling you get in your gut when you see a strange creepy man speaking to your wife or your child.

However, when it comes to human jealousy I'm reminded of James 3:16 - For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. James 4:2-3 also reads - You desire and do not have, so you murder. You covet and cannot obtain, so you fight and quarrel. You do not have, because you do not ask. You ask and do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions.
