Why does lying offend us so deeply? In Episode 25 of God’s Image in Man, Duane Sheriff reveals that truth itself is part of God’s image embedded in humanity. Lying assaults both God’s character and His image in man. Though sin fractures and distorts that image, a residue of truth remains in every person—and when they’re lied to, that image is violated.

Satan's primary weapon is suppressing truth through lies and deception. Jesus declared in John 18:37 that He came into the world to bear witness to the truth, and those who are of the truth hear His voice. When we embrace Jesus as the Truth, we gain the discernment needed to recognize the lies saturating our media, education, and culture. Freedom begins when we embrace absolute truth and allow God's Word to open our eyes to the darkness around us.
