Paul wants us to understand in Ephesians 5:21 that walking in light, love, and wisdom includes “submitting to one another in the fear of Christ.” It’s also a transition into his discussion on gospel-centered relationships, where he shows us three ordinary relationships—in marriage, family, and work—where we can practice submission and, in doing so, grow in love and as a disciple.
