On the final episode of Going Deutsch in 2024/25, Alex takes over two hours to review the 2. Bundesliga! I honestly never thought that was possible. Köln and HSV are promoted back to the Bundesliga, one at the first attempt, the other not so, whilst Ulm and Jahn Regensburg go back to the 3. Liga. Also on the pod: many managerial changes, some transfers for the new season, and some horribly wrong predictions.

Going Deutsch is back! For at least two episodes anyway. Alex reviews the 2024/25 Bundesliga season, once again breaking his record for doing so. Bayern Munich are back on top of the pile in the first season under Vincent Kompany, Bayer Leverkusen falter in their defence as Xabi Alonso says goodbye, St. Pauli manage to stay up under Alexander Blessin, whilst Kiel and Bochum say goodbye. Also on the pod: wondering what the point of Leipzig is, being annoyed at Dortmund (again), and some other stuff I can't remember as this was recorded a week ago.

In the Zweite: Elversberg go top following a 3-0 win against Braunschweig, Köln are in second after a win against Nürnberg and Jahn Regensburg manage to score two goals … whilst conceding four against Karlsruher. Also on the pod: the lighter incident, some less classic Christmas lyrics, and a budget version of the iconic line from The Three Musketeers.

Wolfsburg win a seven-goal thriller in added time against Mainz whilst Stuttgart come from 2-0 to beat Union Berlin 3-2 and Kevin Trapp slips up in Frankfurt's 2-2 draw with Augsburg. In the Zweite: Paderborn are still in first despite a 4-2 loss to Schalke, Elversberg return to winning ways against Nürnberg, and Jan Siewert's Fürth win their first game. Also on the pod: the good and the bad of Upamecano, Morgan Guilavogui becomes Messi, and which Stuttgart player was compared to a hard-to-spot literary character.

On the third day of Christmas, my true love gave to me, an episode of the Going Deutsch podcast! (Lucky you) Dortmund and Bayern draw 1-1 in the first Klassiker of the season, St. Pauli finally score a goal at home as they win in the bottom of the table clash against Holstein Kiel, and Frankfurt continue to be the most entertaining side in the league as they put four past a hapless Heidenheim. In the Zweite: Paderborn hold on to top spot after beating Elversberg 3-1, HSV start the post-Baumgart era with a win against Karlsruher, and Kaiserslautern are the league's surprise package as they demolish Schalke 3-0. Also on the pod, a Leipzig demolition, no room at the inn for Ralf Fährmann, and Julian Justvan having the worst day.

Going Deutsch returns following the final international break of 2024, leading to celebrations everywhere (more for the end of the international break but I'll take it.) Bayer Leverkusen come from 2-0 down to beat Heidenheim 5-2, Borussia Dortmund remain perfect at home with a 4-0 win over Freiburg, and El Plastico is one of the most interesting games of the weekend as Hoffenheim get the Christian Ilzer era off to a perfect start. In the Zweite, the seeded batch at the top sees Paderborn race into pole position, Steffen Baumgart is sacked following HSV's 2-2 draw with Schalke, and Elversberg look like they're mounting a serious promotion push following a 2-0 win away at Düsseldorf. Also on the pod: early goal music, an ejector seat, a 37-year-old debutant, a two-year banana supply, and the x-odus from Twitter.
