Today I left home at 5am for a five-hour drive to Blackpool because sometimes you have to put yourself directly in front of a problem to get it solved. After weeks of automated email responses and phone calls that led nowhere, I decided to sit in the council office until someone who could actually help came to speak to me. Day 1963 of my 40,075km world lap mission reminded me that consistency isn't just about showing up every day - it's about recognising when something matters enough to warrant extraordinary effort. Whether it's bureaucracy, business challenges, or simply getting out for your daily run when everything else is going wrong, there are moments when going the extra mile literally makes the difference between progress and stagnation. With 19,630km completed and £1million still to raise for Great Ormond Street and BBC Children in Need, I know there will be many more days when persistence trumps patience.
