Check out Ryder Donovan's Season Highlights at GoldenKnightsWatch.com
The Golden Knights Watch Podcast is pleased to welcome Vegas Golden Knights Prospect, Ryder Donovan to the show. Jack Manning spoke at length with this intriguing player about being drafted by the Golden Knights, what it will take for him to reach the NHL, and how he plays the game.
Donovan was picked 110th overall by the Vegas Golden Knights and is a 6'4" power forward with excellent speed, great hands, and a high hockey IQ. Beyond his raw skills, Donovan is a highly likable and coachable prospect with a toolkit that all coaches will love.
Donovan was the top American high school draft prospect in 2019, and will only continue to improve as he plays against more difficult competition in the NCAA. Although his 2019-20 point totals didn't lead the league, he continues to show his ability to create scoring chances for his teammates and to finish the chances he's given. He uses his high-end speed to make impressive plays on both the forecheck and the backcheck. Relying on his physical tools alone, Donovan projects as at least a bottom-6 forward in the NHL, However, with enough hard work and the right development path, he has a real chance to develop into a dangerous top-6 power forward.
Donovan is heading into his sophomore year at the University of Wisconsin and could be as close as one or two seasons from turning pro with the Golden Knights organization.
