Good morning everyone! It's official: Buenos Días Aurora is here! As you already know we've been doing bi-lingual news, in spanish, for our latino residents & community partners. Today we had our very first episode with a local business! We were joined today by the Parra family, owners of Cinco De Mayo Bakery in studio and it was fun! We got to speak with the family, eat conchas, sip coffee and learn the story of a great team. With 2 locations (102 N. Lake St. & 215 Jackson St.) be sure to check them out! And stay tuned for what ELSE we have cooking!   Buenos Días Aurora is the official name of our Wednesday show; you can still call us Noticias Frescas as well! Check it out and stay tuned!

It was a delight to get to know Deeprut Music and be graced with some good music. What a great way to start the week! As you know, last week we shared with you “Absence Of Initiative” on our Facebook page & we played it this morning on the live news! Check out this interview and another track by Mr. Dan Roman and support this talented local artist. We wish Deeprut Music much success in 2021!

We made it ya'll, the weekend is upon us. So today we riffed just a TAD bit, but we represented for the turtles and chopped up the state losing a congressional seat. Once again, our dear friend Jenette broke it all down over coffee and water. Don't forget, Wine On The Fox is coming up on Sunday. If you want to drink wine outdoors, an otherwise illegal activity, swing by the Village of Oswego! Enjoy this episode and have a great weekend.

A funny thing happened to us once on a 1st Friday. We walked into Cotton Seed Creative Exchange (8 N. Broadway) & met Mr. Lou Gabriel, better known as Thalo Halo. And that, as they say, was fate! While familiar with his artwork we finally got a chance to sit down with the man whose art we’ve come across and marveled over before. Born into a working class, blue-collar background Lou shared his early years before becoming an artist, and since. We’ve been impressed with his artistic, bold graffiti style and it was great to listen to him wax artistically on his craft. Safe, socially distanced pop ups have become a useful addition to local entertainment. Cotton Seed Creat has become the epicenter of what is a local art renaissance. Check out Thalo Halo’s work in Cotton Seed and support local art. We look forward to seeing more of our friend Lou on the scene!

Yesterday we had a great interview! April is Financial Literacy Month and we had a friend of the show return! Mr. Michael Rayford came to visit the show to check in and update us on new initiatives. Their goal is to teach everyone “How Money Works”. Michael shared with us literary works, some basic best practices & what’s to come going forward. Student loan debt is a key challenge for many young people. The NFLC does continuous work with many community partners to provide training, information and resources. With faith we can all accomplish so much. With motivation and Moxie; we can consistently achieve and help others for a greater good. Yesterday we were joined by Nicole Astra, owner and creator of Moxie Vox (bold voice). Nicole is a talented and experienced voice over actress with an impressive professional catalog. An Aurora native, we speak of the Aurora of her childhood and what it is today. Nicole is an alumni of Aurora Christian, Covenant Christian School & Judson University. But wait, there’s more! How many actual four leaf clovers have you seen, touched and held? Nicole started an initiative titled: Clovered In Prayer. What started as a way to positively engage others for prayer requests has grown into a movement for community. Lastly, we spoke of miracles in this episode. Nicole is all about the story being told; she shared with us her personal miracle and we appreciate her for it. Recently, Nicole was the lead talent in Mayor Richard Irvin’s 2021 State Of The City address “Talking Cities”. Nicole is part of the team at Bureau Gravity (56 S. LaSalle St.), a dynamic media hub in the heart of downtown Aurora. Stay tuned for more fantastic work from herself & the team. And keep your eyes peeled for Moxie Vox. Nicole can help you harness your bold voice!
