Brian Burgundo is the development manager for economic development and housing for the city of Santa Cruz. He was pretty excited about the new library. It has been in the planning stages since 2014, and we're getting close to breaking ground now. The whole project should be finished in 2028.

In good news we heard of a girl named Georgia who petitioned a clothing maker, Sainsbury, to put pockets in girls' trousers. She got her schoolmates to do the same. Sainsbury did not respond, but the following year they released just for what Georgia had asked. Was she responsible?

We also heard about a man who had had an essential hand tremor for thirty years. With one ultrasound treatment, he was cured.

Lynn Robinson of Valley Churches United Missions let us know they are missing much of the money they used to get to buy food for hungry people. They are trying to make up the difference through their Bucks for Hunger program.

Assemblymember Gail Pellerin had lots to talk about.

Rachael Shelton was in for the absent Rosemary this day.

Dr. Pete described mares rejecting their newborn foals. It is not that uncommon. He has had to intervene to prevent a new mother horse from kicking and injuring or killing the baby. He also told us about very well-behaved animals, some even working as therapy animals for people. There is also a mini-horse he met in Sonoma who would only visit with a person if he got to share their beer.

Alex's pick of the week is the movie The Luckiest Man In America. It is the true story of a man who figured out how to beat the TV gameshow Press Your Luck. He also wants to see the documentary The Hermit of Treig.

Gary Shapiro taught us that the place to go when you have worn out your welcome here is France. 

Ginger Shulick Porcella is the new director of the Museum of Art and History. Her dogs Maya Papaya and Radio McGriddles have made lots of art. There will be an opportunity for local folks to have their own dogs make art, April 7 at the MAH, beginning at 9:00 and going to 1:00.

Jaime told us that although tritip used to be unheard of in Florida, one can find it there now. Asparagus and artichoke are in season now.

Gary Shapiro answered the question "Did Yoko Ono break up The Beatles?" He is excited about the release of old Donald Duck comic strips in a compilation book series. It is titled Frozen Gold.

We had Jill Troderman on. She is a new addition to the family of Santa Cruz Voice hosts. Her show, Feeding the Family with Jill Troderman, debuts today. It will be on every Wednesday at 3:00. Her guest today will be Dr. Katie Reed, and her topic will be ADHD.

Rachael told more stories of her grandmother, and how she could go from sweet and seemingly harmless to a roaring lion in an instant. We heard about good friends and bad neighbors.

John Laird has amended a bill to make Battery Energy Storage Systems safer. He also talked about a bill authored by Assemblymember David Tangipa of Fresno. It involves labeling syringes to identify from where they come, to enable the monitoring of sources of found needles.

We establish in this episode that '80's music is much more memorable than '90's music. Rosemary could not manage to be inthused by any of the '90's tunes I played. I can find ones I like here and there.

Michael Olson's guest, Thomas Wittman, owner/operator of Gophers Unlimited made listeners knowledgeable about ways to protect areas from the little critters, or to do away with them all together.

Dr. Pete is a good story teller. Today's story involved a cow with a completely prolapsed uterus. He described it as an inside-out suitcase. A pair of teenagers were pressed into service to assist him in stuffing it back in the cow. One bore up well under the challenge. The other found it a challenge. He also discussed just how risky it is for a dog to swallow chicken bones.

Charlie had a wealth of information on how to tackle weeds, now that spring is upon us.
