In good news we heard of a young man in Australia who found a fairly large sum of money, returned it and was rewarded for it. We also learned that zipper design has had a major change, for the first time in 100years.

It was a blustery day, as evidenced by the rapidly changing traffic reports.

Dr. Pete heard the story of Jack running off with a couple other dogs during a walk. Naughty boy. He then told us about cloning dogs. That results in an animal that probably looks like the original, but will likely not act the same. We heard of a dognapping. The time change we go through twice a year does have an impact on our dogs.

Speaking of dogs, in the good news we heard of a dog trained to track people by scent, who helped rescue a lost toddler.

Charlie Keutman told us ALL about camellias.

Used car salesman have a reputation for being somewhat slimy, but it is not so, at least not always, and in the good news segment we heard that demonstrated. We also heard of a Portland coffee shop raising a great deal of money to assist people undergoing hardship due to SNAP delays.

Gary Shapiro knows lots about singers who also acted in movies. If you listen, you will too.

Lynn Robinson is the former Executive Director of Valley Churches United Ministries. She reminisced about her time there, and reminded us of the gift boutique at 9400 Highway 9. Through it they raise funds for the food pantry, which this year will likely be needed more than ever.

In good news we heard more about the fellow who saved people during the mass stabbing on a train in England. We now know who he is, and a bit more about just what happened. We heard of two more heroes as well. They spotted a fire at the back end of a school bus. They alerted the driver and assisted in evacuating the bus just moments before the whole thing caught flame.

Rachael Shelton talked of Halloween and how fortunate she is to have access to the mind of a 24-year-old, so she can stay in the know.

In good news we heard of a stabbing on an English train, and the heroes who arranged to use the emergency stop to stop the train in a station, so police could board and medical personnel could treat the wounded. We also heard of the Dodgers win over the Blue Jays, making them the first team in 25 years to win back-to-back world series.

Gail Pellerin was with us. She weighed in on getting out the vote tomorrow, passing prop 50, whether affordable housing being built really will be, and oil drilling off the coast, of which she is not in favor.

In the Ag report Michael Olson discussed the ending of SNAP due to the government shutdown. He suggests letting SNAP funds be redeemable at local farmers' markets, in conjunction with the Market Match program.

Rocky Snyder filled in for Rosemary. We learned what were the best and the worst Halloween costumes he has worn.

Jaime Smith made things simple for us. Chicken and broccoli. He also let us know how to make food sweet without sugar.

Dr. Pete talked about cats and the noises they make, sunburn in cats, skin cancer in cats and cattle, and finally all about something of which he is a fan, registered vet techs.

In good news we heard of the photo of a sea otter taken by Shmuel Thaler, and about Francine the wayward cat that was found.

Alex did not make it for the movie reviews, but we heard them anyway. The pick of the week was Good Fortune, with Keanu Reeves as an inept Angel Gabriel.

Charlie Keutman, after a bit of chat about the Homeless Garden Project, told us what can be planted this time of year to add some Halloween colors to our garden. They included these.

We heard of Mr. T, the runaway tortoise, who was rescued from train tracks and reunited with his family. Then there was a tale of a stained glass window purchased for 25 dollars, which turned out to likely have belonged to King Robert the first, of England.

One of us, before today, had never heard of Overly Attached Girlfriend.

In Good News we heard of John Lodge, leader of the Moody Blues who just died. We learned of a taco hero who saved the day and then got his own reward.

Jeff Manke saw cackling geese in Alameda. He returned recently from a four-day field trip to the eastern Sierras, where the trees are turning color. We learned why there are so few birds in a redwood forest.
