  • How to Create and Use Podcast Chapters
Glen, (@StinkyDad87 on Twitter) drops by to ask about podcast chapters. I provide a few options for how to create them, and then opine a bit on why you should probably start using them. If you're using a podcast player that support podcast chapters, you should see a few chapters in this episode.

  • Lights, Camera, SAAS Products! (#FANTF)
Found A New Thing Fridays might be my favorite regular segment. It's way better than "I don't have much to talk about Wednesdays." This week I share a camera, some lighting, and a few cool SAAS products. First is the Elgato Facecam, then these cool LED lighting strips that are less than $20, then TidyCal, Formaloo, and Patchstack!

  • My Two-Cents on De-Platforming Joe Rogan Over Misinformation
Joe Rogan has been taking a pounding in the media as of late. Does he deserve it? Some say no, others say yes. Either way, many are demanding that Spotify do something - either censor him or kick him off the platform all together. Since I've opened the floodgates of political discussion with my last episode, I suppose it was only a matter of *looks at watch* 24-hours before someone asked me another politically charged question. What was it? "Tanner, where do you stand on the Joe Rogan/Spotify/misinformation issue?

  • Is Podcasting the Last Bastion of Free Speech?
Podcasting is often referred to as "the last bastion of free speech" - commonly by many old school podcasters - but I think that's ridiculous. Motivating Jeff's question is, no doubt, the recent goings on with Joe Rogan. In this episode I'll share my take on this, as a Centrist, which everyone is bound to hate, and I only ask that you don't give me a 1-star review for this single episode or this single opinion. Please do me that favor. Thanks!

  • Audiochuck's Latest Scandal, and Listen Notes' Lack of Utility
Audiochuck, the production house behind quite a number of popular True Crime podcasts, has been accused of stealing the concept for their newest podcast (The Deck) from the independent podcast "Dealing Justice." To be honest, it looks pretty grim for and paints them in a very poor light. I'll discuss it in this episode. I'll also discuss Listen Notes, and how I think it's causing more problems than it's helping podcasters - at least relative to data and rankings.

  • I Cannot Pronounce "C'est La Me" (#PodAudit)
Amelia from the C'est La Me podcast submits her podcast for a good old fashioned #PodAudit. I'm surprised to find that she's a Top 5% podcaster who probably doesn't need any advice from me but, I offer it anyway. Let's see how it goes!

  • How to prepare un-savvy guests
If you're a podcast with guests, every now and then you're going to run into one who knows less about technology than your great grandmother. In those instances, what can you do to ensure that the recording process goes as smooth as possible? In today's episode Matthew Bliss of the Game N' Watch podcast asks exactly this question and I try to give him, and you, the best advice I can muster.

  • Local podcasting with the Fuzz, featuring Fuzz Martin (#MAPT)
Fuzz Martin runs the Five Minutes with Fuzz podcast out of Washington County Wisconsin. Five Minutes with Fuzz is a weekly local podcast, and one that Fuzz has been producing for about 6-months now. Driven by a desire to bring more positivity to his local community specifically, Fuzz has found himself gaining no small amount of notoriety in his town of less than 40,000. Fuzz and I talk about the benefits of local podcasting, about his motivation behind creating one, and about a few other things you might find interesting.

  • How do I get more podcast reviews?
John of the EmoDojo podcast asks, "How do I get more podcast reviews?" He adds:
"Over the years I’ve tried making a good podcast, asking, begging, nothing, and merch bribes."
I have a few ideas, but most of all I have a reality check for all of us. I'm a practical advice guy, after all, so you shouldn't be surprised that my answers, my ideas, are going to be in line with the traditional wisdom of relationship building. It's not what you ask, it's how and when - and it's how easy you make it. There aren't any shortcuts, no magic bullets, there are just best practices. In this episode I'll share my version of those practices.
