Jesus continually called people to follow him as Lord and Savior. Some responded to his call and became true disciples; others, however, rejected Him when his demands became too hard.
Christ’s approach was very different from today’s evangelism. He did not want a quick decision to trust Christ, or for one to pray a prayer in order to be saved. He did not want the emotions of the moment’s feeling of guilt, fear, or desire for a better life, but a carefully thought out commitment to Him as Lord.
